So how exactly do I go about rebooking a SW flight when the price/points go down? I've only totally changed or cancelled flights.

It's the same, just go into Change the flight, when you select it it'll give you a search for new flights box with your current reservation filled in - just search like that and it'll show the price difference in the results. Then just pick your same flight with the lower rate and it'll refund.

I'm assuming this a flight made after 10/10/18, there's a little warning that pops up to remind you that if you're changing a flight made before then you'll have to cancel and rebook to keep it refundable (if you care).

So DH’s credit card came today from the implement dealer. He’s okay with me calling tomorrow to see if we have to use this card. (Can places really do that?!)

It would be ideal for me to put the charges on my CIP. One trip to the dealer should exceed my MSR.

Question though- if we don’t HAVE to keep this credit card from the implement dealer, can my husband reject the card and not have it go on his credit report? Yes, he did apply for it, but it was under the impression that he must (by the implement dealer).

there may be some discount programs attached to the dealer card that he doesn't know he signed up for. that is the only reason i can think of for them to require it. they also may not accept credit cards for large amounts because it cuts into their profits. ( i work at a dealership)

That is a GREAT point that we haven't necessarily advised recently...

If you have Ultimate Rewards scattered across multiple cards and spouses...it is ALWAYS recommended to consolidate them to your most valuable card: (i.e. CSR would be first priority, otherwise either CSP or CIP). This is recommended because IF Chase ever ended points pooling across spouses OR points pooling between cards, you'd at least have your points where you wanted them. We'd expect Chase to give notice if this change were to occur but it takes 2 minutes to pool points when they post so better safe than sorry.

Thanks for this reminder! Now that I'm doing away with my CSP (downgraded to Freedom) I now 1) actually have some points with 5% back on gas and 2) Need to be more strategic with the little points I do have. DH's card was the only one I've got an unexpected error on for several hours, from 3 different devices. I'm guessing it may be due to having -200+ points coming off next month. DH had some big returns to Home Depot after our remodel.

It's a sock drawer card for me. I used the points for stays in Europe a few years ago, and nowadays it's handy for the odd night near an airport when I'm looking for a place to stay with free airport shuttles (due to early/late flights), usually at a Country Inn and Suites.

It does charge a 3% foreign transaction fee, so you don't actually want to put spend on it when staying at a Radisson internationally!

I had problems finding award space for 1 room with 3 people (us and DD) with the Radisson line, so if it's just 2 of you there probably won't be any issue. Definitely look at the cash price vs points to make sure you're getting a good value. I peeked at a random Radisson on a random date in Oslo and the cash price was just $88 and it cost 44K points.

Also, USBank is not an easy bank to get cards from these days (no rhyme or reason AFAIK), so don't take it personally if you get denied.

Thank you for all this info. Yeah we never stay with them because of the 3 people thing, but in this case if she is living there I guess I only need a room for 2, which makes finding a room so much easier. I noticed that the cash prices don't look bad at all, so that may be the way to go, too. I didn't find anything for $88, but still what I found was under $200, so that was a nice surprise after paying so much for stays in other European cities.

@mmmears , look at Choice Hotels for Norway, and compare points bookings vs cash prices. I recall reading a few articles 2-3 years back from travel bloggers indicating that was the way to go in Norway. If you can get some points in your account, I THINK you can do the book/cancel trick to "buy" more points at a cheap rate. Of course that may have changed by now, but its worth checking.

Will do! Thanks for the info. Since we just found out last night all I've done, research wise, was look at the list up on TA to see what there was after I realized that Hyatt/Hilton/Marriott don't have much of a presence there.

Laissez les bon temps rouler! Translation: my city and neighbors have been partying for weeks! Real translation-Let the good times roll!
Happy Mardi Gras y'all!!

Happy Mardi Gras! :joker:

I can enable you with that :littleangel:

IIRC there something weird you have to do with your credit lines before successfully applying. In a not too distance post @calypso726 described it.

Oh, I know you can! And that's good to know. I'll try to search for that post - I don't have much luck with search here but I will certainly try.

So cool! I would have loved to have been working in the ER when that patient came in.

I bet he had a NASTY infection. I think about all the horse sweat and dirt and literal pooh: that’s all over my spurs... yuck!!!

Same! :scared1:

Sounds like a good thing that HoJo got shut down, so you can't even think about going back after that

Great news- it’s back open :rotfl:We haven’t stayed there since though. Actually, the only reason we ever stayed there is because we volunteer annually for 4-H and that’s where they put all the volunteers up for three nights. They’re booking about 75 rooms and obviously don’t have unlimited funds, so they always had to go with the cheapest option. They’ve stuck with the QI since all this went down in 2017 though.

The HoJo’s also offers these delightful full size figurines in the lobby for reasons that remain unclear. There’s another one (not pictured) of a man wearing a colonial outfit. No idea why. They’ll really scare you if you look down the hotel hallway at night and see one staring back at you.

Ok, I think I’m done with horror stories now :rotfl2:

This is terrible too. Both are awful. I guess for me I just have stuck in my head the last words I said to the unexpected person. My unexpected person and one of my expected people were tied together though, so it was a bad 6 months.

It's all bad but unexpected, while it also has it's challenges notifying people if they are out of town etc, I'd prefer it. Knowing it's going to happen and having to wait, going to bed each night not knowing if you'll get woken up with a phone call. It was worse once he went into hospice care because then you really know the timeline but are just sitting and waiting for the call.

Good call, 4-H :thumbsup2

Those figures are just creepy... oh, yeah, that's gotta go

The cheapest SW fares I see for the rest of the month are the last weekend of the month... supposedly we might have an off site department meeting that Sunday. Which basically means I waste 3 hours of my Sunday afternoon, half of that in driving time, to be fed a sandwich at an in between meal time, for things that could have been talked about at work... and I have to be in at 3am Monday morning, so really that's the last thing I want to do with my afternoon. Based on our previous off site meeting. I feel like sending my boss an email requesting that weekend/mon/fri off and see what she says, and play dumb if she remembers the meeting...

Oh yes, driving to different counties due to the wet/dry laws is a favorite past time lol!

Baylor had so much influence on the town that many restaurants like Chilis that were known as 'Chili's bar and grill' removed the 'bar' from their name. I have no idea what that is like today...Baylor has relaxed a lot...but back when we were there, it was crazy how much they dictated what went on in the town.

Spent teenage years and college in Mississippi, know all about driving to different counties for wet/dry and also damp laws. lol We actually used to drive about an hour to Louisiana because they for awhile had drinking age at 18 still. Though I just checked and it says it changed in 1986, but this was well after that we were driving there. lol I guess the tiny drive through (yes drive through alcohol!!!) place on the border did not care much for the real age limit.

Not that I was a bad kid or anything. :rolleyes1

Question for the experts!
I just applied for the Barclays Aviator Bussiness card and got the “we need more information”. Would it be ok to apply for the AA Citi bussiness today as well? Or is this a bid no-no?

SW kept giving me an error as I tried to add myself as DHs companion, but when I went back to his account page 10 mins later there I am!
Seems common. I got an error as well adding DS. Logged back in and he was on there. They have had some glitchy IT in the last few weeks. Took forever for me to be able to see my actual points activity. I kept getting an error on that as well.

I was always on the fence about this when my father passed away suddenly of a heart attack when I was 21 and didn't get to say goodbye but after watching my father-in-law suffer from brain cancer and my stepfather from bladder cancer for some period before passing, I think I prefer not watching those I love suffer. I like to think my wonderful FIL held on until the 14th so he wouldn't pass away on DS's birthday.

Completely agree. That’s why I specified harder for survivors. Definitely better for the deceased.

Update on the dealership card---

I called and spoke with the lady at the dealership today; DH does not have to use that card. :) They're happy to have us use whatever card we want or to pay by check. :cool1:

I called the credit card company and explained what had happened. I asked if there was a way for us to not have the card, especially because we never activated it and DH had misunderstood the terms at the dealership. The lady said, "Oh that's no problem. I'll just cancel it. Done!"

While she was helpful, and I don't want the card. I'm afraid this will still probably count against DH's 5/24. In other news though, DH's tractor repair should easily meet my MSR on my new CIP. I'll refer him (if he still has an available slot) this fall and he can earn rewards, too.

Can we write off the AF on a business card as an expense?
