So excited! Saw the news hit when I was eating breakfast this morning before an important meeting and had two trips booked in about ten minutes. It would have been three if December had been up :)

DD and I will go to Maui for a week during her spring break for $49 each way and family will go for a week in August for $99 each way. Omg!!! I feel like I’m stealing :) DH has a companion pass so one of this August fares is free. Crazy! My mom has a place there so our lodging costs are minimal. Now I guess I’ll have to be vigilant when the holiday calendar goes up.

On a less happy subject ... so sad about Luke Perry. 90210 was my generation so it hits hard.

Go look. Concierge level on one of the Greek Isles sailings is $33k.

We have to get DH a new car next year... which is around the same price as a week-long trip. I am just baffled by this.

We're looking at those cruises, but not at concierge. It's crazy expensive for those. The big suites are running around $100K.

Omg, you guys have me cracking up with all this baby talk, love it! My DD3 loves traveling since she is so used to it. She's been on a plane several times, a ferry several times, and now she asks all the time if we can go on 'cation. Definitely helps to start them young! Her choice of transportation is airplane!

Aww. Our DD was like that, too. I agree they get used to it quickly if you start traveling early. By the time my DD was 3 1/2 she had spent 6 weeks in Hawaii and 4 weeks at WDW (over multiple trips) and would talk about both all the time. When can we go back?

Yes we stayed there for a honeymoon a long time ago (16 years) but it was a great hotel and great location. Loved the little town of Lahaina. The Hyatt is Kauai is even nicer

Totally agree on the Hyatt in Kauai. Our honeymoon was a split between that one and the GWR.

Since you've never been, take BART across the bay and stay in San Francisco. I work in Oakland, don't think there's all that much there that would interest a tourist, especially compared to what SF has. :)

Seconding this. I think there's much more to see in SF.

I've been thinking that Swych and Gyft 5x can't be far from the chopping block.

ETA: When Gyft finally goes... *gasp* I'll actually have to step foot into an office supply store!

as of 3/3, it still works.

My mom would be so upset, 90210 was her very favorite show ever.

But then Dylan left, Valerie ruined things and then Brandon left and it was all just bad. They definitely stayed on longer than they should have. Just watched the ep where Donna gives herself to David last week, Pop shows it.

Me too. I don't think I ever missed an episode of 90210. I'm trying to remember if that was before the days of cordless remote controls; I'm not even 100% sure that we had a VCR -- my dad would bring home the one at his school on weekends back in the day!

It came out in 90 or 91 so we for sure had a remote for the tv and vcr.

So I was brave and applied for the CIP on Friday. It went pending, then went to 2 weeks, and then today it's at 7-10 days. Guess I won't be getting one. :sad2: I had a feeling this wasn't going to work.

But, sadly, the options at the office supply store are slim compared to Gyft :( And it's so convenient. We had dinner at TGF on Sat and I just purchased a gift card on the spot for the bill. Then we went to UnderArmour, purchased one while I was shopping. DH decided he needed something from ThinkGeek for his eBay inventory, bang another GC.

I find MPX generally more convenient because of the ability to purchase GCs in exact amounts for many merchants.

If you fly United or Star Alliance, it's a great way to earn United miles and some URs too. Pass-through coding, which passes the way your MPX GC purchase codes on Chase UR-earning credit cards to the category coding of the merchant for which you're buying the GC, has been a little inconsistent with Chase's cards, but the last I saw it's working again. So that means you can earn 3x UR on the CSR and 2x UR on the CSP for MPX purchases of GCs from dining and travel merchants, 2x UR for dining GCs on the CSP, 5x UR for office supply gift cards on the CIC, in addition to whatever United miles you earn specific to that merchant.

For example, MPX has TGI Friday's (and P.F. Chang's!) at 5 United miles/$1 and you should earn 3x UR if you paid with the CSR. Think Geek and Under Armour are at 3 miles/$1, but don't trigger any bonus category on Chase's UR-earning cards so earn only 1x UR (or 1.5x on the CFU or CIU). Sadly, Target is not on MPX, and Walmart is only 0.5 miles/$1.

For you Hawaii experts, how do you get to Kauai for a reasonable cost? Is SW flying these routes as well?

Looking at the Courtyard on Coconut Beach. Isn't that hotel going up soon??

:faint:

See, that's how my mom got into it... she was home with me on maternity leave when it started! 1990

could be a simple verification...

So do I just wait and see what they say in 7-10 days?

With DH it was because his credit was locked. We definitely unlocked mine. I'm thinking they don't like my "business."

Ah, okay...Well, I was discussing with dh all morning and now everything is sold out for May. Summer is all high so unless more flights are coming, we missed this deal.

Aww, that is so cute. They do remember, even if they may not remember wen they are an adult. My neighbor asked me yesterday if I thought her 4 year old was old enough yet to go to WDW since she won't really remember. :earseek:
Of course I told oh yes most definitely. My DD tells EVERYONE she fell asleep with the Beast (at Be Our Guest), rode the "modarail", etc. She remembers more than me!

Of course the one morning that SW decides to open up Hawaii flights I have a major client meeting... I missed all the fun this morning :( :( Just caught up now though and super excited for all of you with trips booked already!!! :D :D

So in your list of cards I see a 15 and 16, is that a typo or should it look more like this so that you're at 5/24 until April?
Me:
02/15 - Am Ex Delta Gold - Thinking about product changing this to the Everyday Blue no fee card
11/16 - AmEx Hilton
02/17 - Chase Marriott - Took the upgrade on this one as well
---------------------------------------------------------------------
04/17 - Chase SP - product changed it to Freedom 5/18
05/17 - Chase Freedom
04/18 - CIC
07/18 - Chase IHG Premier
09/18 - Chase Hyatt
11/18 - Am Ex Delta Plat Personal

If so, and if I'm counting correctly, it looks like you both get to 4/24 after April.
Also looks like you are both locked out of churning the Sapphires until 2020 and 2021.
While I feel you can never have too many UR, with your current haul it can probably make sense to diverge and keep one player "clean" for Chase and let the other out of the gate.
If it worked having your DH earn the CP, and he's willing to do Biz cards, then probably keep him slow picking up those as things drop off and setup for CP run late in the year. Then you could hop on the train after maybe trying for the Arrival+ or something that's account/inquiry sensitive first. Unless you wanted any of the United cards, I think you have all the Chase cards (at least the ones I'm interested in :p) so you could do a parting shot of a CIP and then a CFU/CIU (depending on the spend you're comfortable with) and go to town elsewhere.

Not sure how much that helped but you have a good diversity of Chase and Amex products, so outside of waiting the 2 years on your Freedoms and going again and with the lifetime language of AmEx, there's not much left to churn there this year. Might be good to branch out.

No, the 15 & 16 are correct. Thank you though! This was my thinking that there wasn't too much to churn now and it's time to branch out. I'll have to talk to DH about trying for the SW CP next year and then make a plan and start applying!
