I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I had a moment of excitement/interest about the 10x UR deal... and then I realized, I'm still probably better off with Hotels.com with gift cards at a discount, free night credit, and a shopping portal. I always value my free night credit at 10% before taxes/fees since that's essentially what it is.

When you use the hotels.com gift cards, do you have to pay in full in advance? I would be fine with purchasing the gift cards, but horse shows can be very up in the air for us so I don't like having to pay in full if it's nonrefundable. If it's refundable to the gift card, that would be fine since I'll use them eventually.

You have to pay in full in advance but it follows the refund policy.... so if you book one that is refundable until 2 day out and you have to cancel, you are emailed a new gift card for that amount from cashstar. Usually within an hour.

@Haley R you inspired me to get a print of a painting. I think this is going to be our new souvenir to collect. SO is trying to find one of Tomorrowland.

We got a print of this. I feel like I had to because we are getting married at the wedding pavilion in December. I couldn’t afford the $500 painting tho lol
We were trying to find a good print of Italy Isola/Epcot on our anniversary trip. I swear there were a bunch on our honeymoon, but not for our anniversary :( we were trying to do a sort of scavenger hunt for things/souvenirs from the day to put in a shadow box. Basically I ended up with a Soarin' pin lol.

Are you saying that you would still get the 2 UR/$1 dollar spent through the Chase UR shopping portal even if you don't pay with a Chase card? In your example, you pay the entire purchase with an eGC?

Shop Through Chase credits for me when I use an eGC.

I hesitate to confirm it works in all cases because Shop Through Chase has been somewhat inconsistent with tracking, and my shopping dollars are too precious to risk using a portal that doesn't track correctly because maybe I didn't follow all the rules, like not use a Chase UR card specific to that portal, or a promo code, or whatever.

Maybe I'll go be Office Max and see if they have any. I could at least get 5x on it since we have a couple of middle of nowhere horse shows come up with no good hotel options.

Super sad that Luke Perry died. I grew up watching 90210 starting in 5th grade when it first started. Used to have to record them on our vcr for the neighbor girl who worked at night so I'd watch it and then take it over when it was done. They didn't have an extra tv to record with.

I didn't get to ask the starbucks ladies about the points cause there was a lady talking with them, which is fine, but she was standing at the register and my drink was done but I needed to pay. No problem with people chatting but at least move away from the register, she already had her drink too.

Wow, that is super sad. It was one of my favorite show growing up also.

Ok, I need some advice on what card to get next and which ones I should keep on the near horizon. The myriad of rules that are ever changing is hard for me to keep track of. I have a lot of summer camp fees that I am going to be paying for soon and I'd like to use those to knock off some MSR's.

Here's what we have:

DH:

10/16 - CSR
04/17 - Hilton AmEx Surpass
12/17 - AmEx Delta Gold Personal - Cancelled 12/18 when the AF posted
07/17 - Chase Freedom UL
11/17 - Chase IHG
07/18 - Chase Hyatt

He also has a Freedom, Hilton AmEx and Chase Marriott that he has had for over 24+ months. We took the upgrade on the Marriott so that knocks out that card.

Me:

02/17 - Chase Marriott - Took the upgrade on this one as well
04/17 - Chase SP - product changed it to Freedom 5/18
05/17 - Chase Freedom
11/16 - AmEx Hilton
02/15 - Am Ex Delta Gold - Thinking about product changing this to the Everyday Blue no fee card
04/18 - CIC
07/18 - Chase IHG Premier
09/18 - Chase Hyatt
11/18 - Am Ex Delta Plat Personal - Which is why I want to get rid of the Delta Gold, no need for 2.

I closed a AmEx SPG card I had 04/18. We are not opposed to Biz cards or AF's I just need them to make sense for us. We currently have around 350k of UR's and then various amount of Hilton, IHG, Hyatt, Marriott, Delta and SW points. The past two years DH had the CP for SW so we have been flying primarily SW although to take them we have to drive to an airport about 2 hours away. Locally we are limited to Delta and American. I've toyed with the idea of trying to get the CP for one of us next year.

As far as travel plans, we primarily go out west. Very limited travel on the east coast. I'm trying to figure out travel for 2020. Ideas that have been floated are Southern CA/DL trip and then possibly England/Ireland/Scotland. My thought was to use Hyatt and IHG if we went the Great Britain route and possibly try to get enough American points for flying there so I'm not opposed to the GrAAvy train either as we can always use American points locally should we not go overseas.

Thanks!

So in your list of cards I see a 15 and 16, is that a typo or should it look more like this so that you're at 5/24 until April?
Me:
02/15 - Am Ex Delta Gold - Thinking about product changing this to the Everyday Blue no fee card
11/16 - AmEx Hilton
02/17 - Chase Marriott - Took the upgrade on this one as well
---------------------------------------------------------------------
04/17 - Chase SP - product changed it to Freedom 5/18
05/17 - Chase Freedom
04/18 - CIC
07/18 - Chase IHG Premier
09/18 - Chase Hyatt
11/18 - Am Ex Delta Plat Personal

If so, and if I'm counting correctly, it looks like you both get to 4/24 after April.
Also looks like you are both locked out of churning the Sapphires until 2020 and 2021.
While I feel you can never have too many UR, with your current haul it can probably make sense to diverge and keep one player "clean" for Chase and let the other out of the gate.
If it worked having your DH earn the CP, and he's willing to do Biz cards, then probably keep him slow picking up those as things drop off and setup for CP run late in the year. Then you could hop on the train after maybe trying for the Arrival+ or something that's account/inquiry sensitive first. Unless you wanted any of the United cards, I think you have all the Chase cards (at least the ones I'm interested in :p) so you could do a parting shot of a CIP and then a CFU/CIU (depending on the spend you're comfortable with) and go to town elsewhere.

Not sure how much that helped but you have a good diversity of Chase and Amex products, so outside of waiting the 2 years on your Freedoms and going again and with the lifetime language of AmEx, there's not much left to churn there this year. Might be good to branch out.

I really want to book Hawaii now! I priced mid-May rates, after dd18 is done with college, and it's $118 there and $88 back. We have points, of course :)

Also, I am still holding on to a Marriott 7-night cert for cat 1-4. There is a RI or Courtyard on Kauai (think that is what I saw). @disneymagicgirl did you ever see anywhere to use the cert in Hawaii?

I've been thinking that Swych and Gyft 5x can't be far from the chopping block.

ETA: When Gyft finally goes... *gasp* I'll actually have to step foot into an office supply store!
But, sadly, the options at the office supply store are slim compared to Gyft :( And it's so convenient. We had dinner at TGF on Sat and I just purchased a gift card on the spot for the bill. Then we went to UnderArmour, purchased one while I was shopping. DH decided he needed something from ThinkGeek for his eBay inventory, bang another GC.

I'm pretty sure I've seen DP's that people did use biz cards to fund an account so that may not be your issue. I just know the banker told me I could not use a biz card for them (was First bank).
I think I'll try it again. It won't hurt to try I guess since my CA is 0 and I will only be excluded from the bonus if I actually earn it. I don't do that many so not too worried about the chex inquiries.

Not gonna be me. lol I do want kids but I think that is still years away. I want to get a little more settled. Although I’m getting baby fever. SO and I are at the parks and he keeps pointing out these adorable babies. It’s not helping lol.

Travel with your baby! You should check out the bucket list family on YouTube. They had three kids and up until very recently they were a full time traveling family. They have a baby that’s 1 now and he has already been on more flights and been to more countries than me.
Yep I’ve seen the bucket list family. I wouldn’t go that extreme but I’m sure we’ll travel with our baby. I was a beach baby and right now we live too far from one so we will have to travel to one unless we move.

Yeah I really don’t know how they do it with three kids. My SO was like losing it in their Disney video when they let the baby crawl around on Main Street. I think they are more laid back then we would be lol

I am completely crushed by this, it's hit me way harder than it should. So sad.

Me too. I don't think I ever missed an episode of 90210. I'm trying to remember if that was before the days of cordless remote controls; I'm not even 100% sure that we had a VCR -- my dad would bring home the one at his school on weekends back in the day!

LOL, that's how I felt when I saw someone diaper change their kid lying directly on the public bathroom floor. :crazy2: But hey, germs are good to build immunity right?
