Just some thoughts.

With the Brilliant, you'd be getting 100k Marriott points. The Plat, 75k to 90k MR, which are transferrable to other partners than just Marriott. Do you need those Marriott points for something, and would you transfer the Plat MRs to Marriott? Or are you just looking for opportunistic bonuses?

The Plat's 75k MR offer via incognito referral is YMMV. You might not be able to pull it up and may only get the regular 60k MR offer. In which case, it's better to just try to pull the 75k incognito offer without trying for a referral because you may have to pay taxes on the referral bonus. (Unless, you really want those 15k MR in your account since Amex makes it hard to combine stashes.) I'd like to say the Plat offer(s) will be around while the enhanced Bonvoy bonuses will end 4/24, but who knows if or when Amex will kill self-referral/universal referrals?

If getting the personal Plat for DH, would that be too duplicative of your Plat benefits to justify another $550 AF?

If another Plat would be duplicative, have DH go for the Bonvoy Brilliant -- however, Marriott/SPG offers seem to go up and down, and I don't doubt the Brilliant will go back up to 100k Marriott points eventually.

What about Amex biz cards to build MR?

Just looking for opportunistic bonuses. I don't see myself transferring MR to Marriott unless it's to top off. We may use it for flights to Europe or Asia, but it probably wouldn't be until 2021.

The 75k offer pulls up for me with my referral links, doesn't even need to be incognito. If didn't pull up before I got my Plat (got that one 75k incognito with no referral). I wonder if referral links from Plat owners are the ones that get the 75k offer? Or maybe it's not predictable like that, haha.

Adding another Plat, I think I can pool the Uber credits and use for UberEats - more food! Airline credits I would get Southwest GCs. I do worry that they'll go the way of AA GCs though. Saks credits, more skin care I guess, haha. We need another Global credit, but both would have that. The $300 Marriott credit, I was thinking I would use at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay we have booked with points advance (will be getting the points with the Bonvoy Biz). Their fancy restaurant looks like a nice place for an anniversary dinner. :)

The AmEx biz cards I've thought about. I have the Gold Biz with the waived first year AF. Thought I'd get it first then refer DH - offer (glitch?) was gone the next day. HA - that's what I get for being greedy. Now the AF is high with nothing to offset it. The Plat Biz, I was really tempted when you offered the contact numbers for the 100k right before the AF was going up. But spend is high (working on a bunch of other MSR), so maybe down the road.

But, the one I had the worst time with was The Grapes of Wrath. I ended up sobbing in the counselor's office after class because I wanted to hug my grandma, and I was 15 years old. You never know what's going to get to you, at any age.

We had to watch the movie in junior high. My english teacher was also a spanish teacher and whenever she showed her spanish classes a movie we had to watch a movie. So we got stuck with the grapes a wrath, so fun watching all the dust, and the old man and the sea. Terrible movie. The only good thing was we didn't have to read the books.

I feel like I missed out on a lot of books when I was in school so I've been trying to read some of them now that I'm older. Friends would read animal farm and we're reading jurassic park (probably not in the same grade but this was the difference).

So Dh and I are watching frozen while we eat dinner. I told him I don’t want to go to Norway because it’s too cold like here and this was his response: “there’s nor-way I’m going there”. What a loser lol

Norway is quite nice in the summer months. It's on my list of places to go so I can see where my great grandparents came from. And Frozen isn't really a very good depiction of the country.

It’s that time! The Masked Singer finale! DS and I think Monster is going to win.

I am watching too. I can't remember the last time I actually watched a tv show as it aired. I started watching after reading a thread on the community board here last week. So I streamed all the others. Helps that DH is not home so I have no one taking over the TV.

I'm watching too. That Monster is T Pain. And I'm certain that Peacock is Donny Osmond!

DS is enthralled by it. He and a friend have been trying to guess who is behind the masks and texting the songs to each other. We have it on DVR to rewatch and he was watching in it on YouTube before we got DVR.

I value your opinion. Can you guys give me feedback on what you would do?
I need to get 4 of us to Italy next April.. I have 120,000 AA miles which would get us to Rome from PHl(most convenient) one way.. the one way fares to Europe are insane..
Coming back I’m looking at $2k pp to fly Rome to Phl..scary..

Or we could fly out of jfk to Milan on Emirates for $2,000 total.. jfk is two hours away from home and Milan is a 3 hour train ride from Rome.

What would you do? Burn the miles and pay the one way fee or do the round trip to/from airports that aren’t convenient paying the same for one way with cash?

The other option is to fly into Rome using miles and fly back using cash from Milan. That wouldn’t be that bad since our final leg is Venice. That would be 2k total for all 4 one way on emirates into jfk.

All flights quoted are direct because of my nervous flyer DH.
Advice?
Think I should just book two round trip flights with the miles and pay for 2.

Who do you think the Bee is? Gladys Knight? DS keeps saying Bo Jackson for the Monster. i was thinking Kevin Hart. Online thinks it’s T Pain also.

Make sure you book in pairs that can travel with just the 2 in case one group gets bumped. $2kpp for a one way return from Italy is insane! I can see why you have a dilemma! If you can drop that price by making them round trip while still “saving” money on two of the tickets by using miles it sounds like a good compromise.

DH's family is from there, too! It's always been a place he has wanted to visit, but I wasn't sure how I'd get us there until I saw the DCL trip. His father, on the other hand, did a longer land trip there (including meeting relatives I guess) and then a smaller cruise. It wasn't warm, but it was amazing. I love Hawaii & the beach and the sunshine, but I'd go back to Norway again in a heartbeat. I think it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. :cloud9:

Yep, I do think it is Gladys Knight, Donny Osmond and TPain. Have to admit, I had no idea who TPain is, but after everyone guessed that on the other thread it I had to google and it seems to fit. It also makes sense that he wins because I read the judges were surprised by the winner and they pretty much have guessed the other 2.

We turn our Direct TV streaming on and off. Just happens to still be on from Football season. I figure at this point, might as well leave it on through March Madness. Then it will get turned back off probably until football starts again. We rarely watch it. I do need to catch up on This Is Us before I turn it back off.

March madness is the only reason I would have tv lol.

I've looked at the cruises but considering the amount of time I'd want to spend in Bergen and potentially go up into the mountains from there, it just wouldn't make sense. I'd also love to go up to Tromso up in the arctic circle to see the midnight sun which obviously means I want to go in late June :) It gets warmer in July and August from what I've read. I'd also go over to Oslo just because I'm already there so silly not to. My great grandmother that I'm named after left from Bergen and came to the US through Ellis Island. I've found her info for that. My mom's been able to trace everyone back to Norway but then it gets hard because things are digitized and/or are in Norwegian. The church's have very good records there though. My mom's parents were the first generation born in the US, everyone else came from Norway.

Yeah, it's the smaller denomination gcs that kind of drive me nuts, so that's why I got a Serve card. But @MrPTato 's experience so far does not portend well.

Got an email this morning (less than 24 hours after making the call) that "the disruption on your card has been resolved." I got back access to one of the accounts and the card has been unfrozen. Hoping the other will be following soon.

I am not sure now. Robin Thicke said I got it right.

Amex has gotten feisty with me before on expedite requests. I called after getting approved for the Hilton Biz a couple months ago, and the rep said if I had a big purchase coming up so soon, maybe I should have applied for the card sooner.
Wow someone missed customer service training! I can't believe they had the nerve to say that. I got lucky on my Delta AMEX. Before I even knew if I was approved, the CSR asked if I wanted the card expedited at no cost - Well yes I do! Then she proceeded to check the approval status. It did seem weird. What if I hadn't been approved. Would the conversation been "sorry I asked if you wanted a expedited card but you aren't approved.":rotfl2:
