That works for me!

Yeah it would be pretty tough to have no furnace in Chicago right about now. It’s a tough surprise expense.Thanks. I guess after the weather over the past month, we decided not to wait for a "catastrophic event" lol...carbon monoxide scares me as does having no heat! Supposed to continue to be unseasonably cold. Being that it was 15 yo and we hope to escape IL in <5 years, we decided to pull the trigger. Didn't go top of the line but still $6K.
That being said, DH jumped on the GrAAvy train this morning. Found the $200 gift card via incognito. We won't do a ton of AA but those miles might be nice for flights to the Caribbean.
DH questioned why I felt we needed another card...first time he's questioned it. Dude...chill!
Each card issuer has rules for it. AmEx will refund the full AF if you cancel within 30 days of the statement closing date that has the fee posted. Outside of that, no refunds on cancellations but you get a prorated one if you PC to another card. Chase will fully refund the AF if canceled within 30 days of the AF posting date. Outside of that I think you get nothing, but if you PC a card within 40 days you should get a full refund of the fee, outside of that it will be prorated.
As for the referrals on Chase, the CSP referral link should continue to work after you change the card. And since the card number and everything else about the account stays the same, you'll still receive the referral points. You can only call to PC cards now, so worried or not, that's you're only option. But I'm not worried, I will be doing it in a couple months myself. People had both cards from before the rule was enacted so unless the CSR digs into all your accounts to see the opening/anniversary date on each one, it probably won't even phase them. I haven't heard anything bad about it yet.

So very true. They do get vocabulary alsoAt least the teacher is trying to use an interesting topic. He could sit and do spelling/vocabulary packets like I had to do in junior high. My mom and aunt always helped my cousin and I because they were so hard. Sometimes they didn’t even know the answers!
I think those are horrible choices. I personally would not read them. In 3rd grade the advanced reading class read Romeo and Juliet, which I think is a bit much personally, especially since we have seen suicide in our district. DS reads above grade level but since he has no interest in reading, he was not picked for LEAP. It’s only 10% of the kids which is 6 or 7 kids. Unfortunately we have no advanced math program, which is something he not only excels at but loves. I’m sure we’ll eventually have issues with assigned books. I’ve heard many parents complaining of books which were racially insensitive as well as situationally inappropriate. So sorry for your DS. I wonder what they do for the students when they have to start reading those types of things in school. DS's 7th grade Honors ELA class just did a Survival Unit that them reading The Lottery and watching clips for Divergent and The Hunger Games for they could identify external and internal conflicts and how those conflicts effected the protagonist. He actually ended up watching them at home again so he could take more thorough notes for the essay he is writing today.
I’d say typically about 7-10 days.
Amex is supposed to be replacing the SPG Lux cardstock with the new metal Bonvoy Brilliant cards any day now, and with the elevated 100k bonus running, there’s no telling if there will be delay.
When I applied for the SPG Lux in that 3-day window when I could have my Chase and eat Amex too, my SPG Lux was sent next day mail. But delivery times quickly slipped after that as Amex couldn’t keep up with demand and ran out of Lux cardstock.
Oh no, I wonder if my CU push worked to keep checking fee free. I guess I better check. (The initial deposit did trigger the bonus in Jan.)

In restrospect, I’m a terrible source for a current DP. I’m not sure if Amex is still expediting the SPG Lux/Bonvoy Brilliant (given that it’s a $450 AF card!), or it’s using snail mail these days.
varies. Amex will expedite your card from their end, but the process with connecting/verification with the hotel needs to occur. believe this happens to every cobrand.
Once its verified, then Amex should be able to expedite it(if u get a knowledgeable rep).
if u request for a new card, u could also get it expedited... though i have seen many ppl do this when the card transferred over to the new name and still received a copy of their old card lol.
at least, thats what ive seen and read.
Amex has gotten feisty with me before on expedite requests. I called after getting approved for the Hilton Biz a couple months ago, and the rep said if I had a big purchase coming up so soon, maybe I should have applied for the card sooner.
Well, fine.
LOL that's ridiculous!! I remembered reading your ring story way back when I read your TR! We didn't have any issues purchasing rings, but DH got two different sized titanium rings (one he wore at our wedding, got another one a couple months later in a smaller size) and didn't like either of them. I told him I didn't care if he wore a ring or not, but he ended up ordering one of the silicone ones and likes that.
I appreciate the information. I PC'd DH's Blue Cash preferred to an everyday shortly after the statement closed and did not get the entire $95 fee back, they kept a month's worth. His Gold card fee is much higher, so I don't want that to happen again. I don't think they could claw back the Home Depot GC I used the MRs for but I don't want them to be mad at him even though I doubt he will be applying for any more AmEx cards in the future.
He also did the Sapphire DD in August and we will be doing the referral then PC for the CSP later this year.

I agree. As a teacher I would never choose that for third graders. To really understand Romeo and Juliet I feel like they should be in at least middle school if not high school.Whoa... I mean, I'm all for kids reading above their grade level, but that seems a little advanced.
