I just read about Juicy Miles on FM. Sounds like it would be a great tool for those trying to figure out award trips...but very pricey!

I read that! I’m looking forward to the award alert feature that is supposed to roll out by the end of the month.

@Haley R remind of how you're flying to Japan? I'm starting to play with how to book my flights with AA Miles through JAL. I would have to connect through Heathrow most likely. I'm just wondering what your fees and taxes looked like if you used points.

Not Haley but I have flown JAL using AA miles. The taxes and fees structure is different than ANA via Virgin which i believe Haley did. Our RT first flights on ANA booking via Virgin were about $300 per person. Our one way JAL flight in first using AA miles was less than $100 if memory serves. Not sure if you know but AA website doesn’t show JAL availability. You have to search in BA. There are flight that don’t connect in Heathrow but you may need to position from ORD or JFK. Hope this helps.

I can hook you up with a horse if you get the itch, haha! I told DH the only tattoo I would ever get would be Olympic rings if I qualified. I don't think just attending in 2020 is quite the same though, so no tattoos for me!

I have my heart set on a Friesian. I have always been in love with the breed.

Attending is close enough, no? :-)

I start an hour in so I can fast forward through the game and the halftime show and just watch the commercials :rotfl2::rotfl2:

That’s what I was thinking. Lol I do love to watch football, but that was a yawner of a game. And I’m tired of the Patriots. I like to watch halftime, though I’m usually disappointed by it. Another not a fan of Adam’s tatts but I thought it was an improvement over his clothes. Lol. The first thing I said when he came out was what in the heck is he wearing. Both the shirt and jacket were ugly. Twitter agreed with me.

We booked through Virgin Atlantic with United Miles and it's an ANA flight. I just went back to my email and it looks like we paid $680 in taxes and fees which seems like a lot, but I'm not going to complain since that's all we had to pay to fly RT in business class to Japan. We are flying out of LAX nonstop. We then booked our flights to/from LAX through Southwest on points and those flights have 1 stop. We decided we would rather have the 1 stop and get to fly out of our local airport rather than drive 5 1/2 hours to Chicago for a nonstop flight. Does this help? Let me know if you have any other questions

Thanks!

convenient how they can track it so well when it comes to blabbing to the IRS when it suits their own situation but not so much when it comes to actually paying you said money. seems a little like fraud there. while you were away there was a small string of DP's on r/churning for people getting checks for previously missed referrals on closed cards or emails stating an adjustment to current accounts for the same. maybe you are a part of that?

if you're going to pay for it, you should actually have the money first. Don't be me where I paid tax on "interest" income I never actually received from an incredibly ill conceived bank promotion I stupidly allowed to happen. I'd at least contact AmEx and see what's up.
So uhhh called Hilton to verify earnings through the year - they confirmed 30,000 points from 2 separate clicks (15k each).

They transferred me to AMEX where the very kind lady informed me I had 14 clicks on my Hilton card alone last year... I about fell out of my chair! I knew I had missed 1 or 2 from PMs and was like oh well...but 14??? I didn't get any of those letters or anything, but maybe I eventually would've - who knows. So I am missing 52,500 Hilton points (to hit the max of 82,500). They are going to work on that for me! I'd honestly rather not have the points and just have an adjusted 1099 but I don't think that would be their preferred resolution so I just let it go. Hopefully I get my points and I'll pay another $92 in taxes (fed, state & local combined) to receive my 52,500 points, lol.

Yes, last few years the quality has gone down on the commercials. IMHO. Maybe it's because I'm getting older.
I thought it was free to stream on the CBS and NFL apps without any tv provider attached???
Oh maybe that's what we did. I have no idea. Dh was the one that set it up. I mainly played games on my phone during the game lol

Yes, I only skip the lame ones, which this year seemed to be most of them.
My favorite was the Alexa Harrison Ford and Dog.

Yes! That was the only one we enjoyed, too!

Shhhhhhh, spoiler, I haven't seen any yet! :p

I had to work so I missed the game and hubby has it on the DVR for us to watch tonight... so we can see the commercials mostly! I know enough about the game with the score and who won but I can't decide if the low score means it was an exciting defensive battle or a yawning display of ineptitude. But since I know the ultimate outcome I suspect we're in it mostly for the commercials but y'all aren't giving me much confidence there either. This may be the quickest football game we've ever watched.

Thanks! Very helpful. I was playing around with looking from IAD to Tokyo today on JAL and I don't know if it's just me or what but I went through British Airways site to look at availability and I could find almost NOTHING for points availability on JAL. It didn't matter when I looked for, almost no JAL flights ever came up. So of course that got me panicking some, and now I'm wondering if I should do a positioning flight and then just fly out of JFK or LAX or something.
That's kind of weird. Have you contacted JAL directly? I know that when we went through Virgin Atlantic we would sometimes see availability on ANA's website, but VA would tell us they had no availability. I think because ANA saves tickets for people who book directly through them. It's possible JAL is doing that, but I'm not sure. We really would rather have flown all with one airline, but it just worked out to do it this way.

I thought it was an extremely boring game, but I'm not really a football person. I'd much rather watch NCAA basketball or hockey. I'm in the "NFL is rigged" group lol.

 :faint:

Well at least the points are worth more than the cash, can look at it as a discounted night. But OMG, 14 clicks, with up to 12 not credited???

An attorney in my office just booked round trip Newark to Japan (non stop) on United for $620. There is an awesome fare sale right now on many airlines to Japan. He's going in November.

Yeah, I mean total worse case scenario we fly economy on points... boohoo right? I would just prefer to arrive reasonably well-rested and ready to go haha.

I haven't, I thought about calling AA and seeing if they could see anything. I think I have juuuuust enough points to get us business class seats, which I'm totally fine with, but I canceled my Citi biz today and am going to reapply soon so I can top off both our accounts.

I guess that's my other thing. If DH's miles are in his account and mine are obviously in my account, can I book for both of us at the same time? Does he have to call separately to book his?
I would think you would have to book them separately unless there is anyway to combine your points. I know that when we booked our ANA seats we were able to choose our seats on their website after purchasing our tickets through VA. There were tons of open seats to choose from so it wouldn't have been a problem if Dh and I had to book separately (we did book together, though). I'm not sure how JAL does their seat selection.

LOL I'm the opposite, I find nearly any other sport other than football boring, although with all the rule changes and whatnot they are introducing to the game I'm losing my interest in football as well. But I was just thinking the other day it's starting to feel more like Pro Wrestling so I don't think you're entirely wrong :) (says one of the founding members of the tinfoil hat club)

That was kind of our thinking, too. With the business class seats on ANA we get the lay flat seats and those will come in handy because I usually have a hard time sleeping on planes.

Yes, well he's flying in coach for that price..lol 14 hour flight. But yes, he's geeked because he had originally budgeted $1200 so now he has an extra $650 to book tours etc... he's flying into Narita.

I'm hoping for the same for our Italy trip next year..cheap coach tickets for the 8 hour flight...

I've never actually watched Pro Wrestling and I doubt I ever will. It's so fake and that's how I feel the NFl is, too.
