With the costco talk, has any bought tires from there? So the tires I had ordered were back ordered, so I still need tires on my vehicle. Then I'm thinking if I buy tires there I might as well get a membership now to take advantage of the rental cars in a couple weeks and then in May.

I always buy my tires there. Great service and if you have nail in your tire or something wrong with it later, they’ll get you a new tire and pro rate it based on your usage from the old tire.

They sell a lot of Michelin and never seem to have the tires I want. I always buy from tire rack and have Midas install. Tire rack has an okay warranty plus I usually get cash back from top cash back.

Costco is like... the usual places u would go. Unfortunately, they wouldnt sell me any non-premium tires there...

So i just go to America Tires... they treat me a lot better than Costco does.

We've bought tires at Costco twice for my 2002 van and tires for dd's itty Kia. The same tires were much more expensive at Just Tires etc.

I have the executive membership, I upgraded about 6 months into my first year. I have never paid another membership fee, member since 2009. My rebate check every year covers my renewal plus cash in my pocket. Maybe I shouldn't admit how much I spend there lol

I'm right there with you since 2008. I was paying one day and the cashier says, 'Why don't you get executive?' She looked up my spend and told me what I would have already earned (approx.). Then I got the Citi card so between both I got about $600 back last year. This year more like $400, but since retiring I've made a concerted effort not to impulse buy for the whole family, which is basically what I would do. But also, I do tires, milk, and a few things that by themselves pay for the fee.

I used this feature last fall, both on a 3 year old Goodyear company store tire, and a tire I had bought at Costco. The pro for Costco was I could shop and have lunch while I waited. The bad was where am I getting all these nails and screws???

And, I forgot the most important: I switched vehicles with daughter to get a tire fixed for her car and while there they completely replaced a 2nd tire with a bulge in the wall of the tire - I can't remember the term for this but it was a blowout waiting to happen. They found it and showed me when they were also rotating her tires which were pretty new. They fixed the one tire for free and charged a small fee for the bulge tire. Those Michelin tires from Costco were $575ish installed for her Civic.

My DH buys our tires there as well. They can be sticklers about prorating your usage if you don't rotate your tires on their recommended 6,000 miles. Plus getting an appointment to do said rotation can be a real pain depending on how busy your Costco is. YMMV...... I just asked him about this and he said next time he is going to check how close Discount Tire is because Costco is such a hassle.

Have you had to use the warranty and if so, what was your experience? I had a bad experience with a non company Goodyear store - the particular warranty was only good at the store I bought it from or from other stores that sold that particular brand of warranty. Try figuring that out when you have a blowout on 95 south in South Carolina - my TPS blew through the sidewall of the tire.

Thanks to all of the Costco talk here last night and today, I had a sudden realization.

I mentioned that DHs Aunt is now coming on the cruise. Well, I'll admit that I'm a worrier and such. I booked ILs cruise on the first day for non-status people. My understanding is that changing the travel party updates you to the new pricing, so if I add aunt and then she decides not to go and I take her off again, ILs cruise is at least $650 more (change from opening days to today for two people in that room category). So I'm not willing to pay an extra $650 plus if Aunt would back out, so I booked it as a separate reservation.

So all the Costco talk made me realize, I can transfer this reservation to them and get a $570 cash card! Which I missed out on last time.

Yes--I've had to have my tires patched twice recently. For tire patching, they only give you $10 and it costs me about $25 at National Tire and Battery, but it was better than nothing.

My brother is in the tire business but not local so whenever I need tires, I text him and he recommends a few tires. Then I pick one and shop around. Costco seems to have a fairly limited selection in my experience. I always find tire rack + installation cost - cash back < price at any of my local tire places.

Costco is great for travel. I got $680 back on DCL Alaska plus am getting another 2% back from my executive membership.

That’s interesting, I haven’t had to have them fix a tire or pro rate them in a long time (knock on wood). But when I have, I’ve never had them say anything to me. And, uh, I’m not exactly great about rotating my tires... as in I almost never do

@platamama DHs AF posted for CSR yesterday  Along with the $75 AU fee. Canceling that today.

Wait! Did that (upgraded to CSR) CSP get opened in January? If so, that fits with them refunding you $71 in October (equals 9 months of $95 AF). If you haven't canceled the CSR yet, my theory (still just a theory but is supported by dps I'm seeing) is that if instead of canceling, if you downgrade to CSP you'll see a refund of the $525 AF and not see the $95AF until Feb 2020. If you can use the reset $300 travel credit before downgrading then you'd be getting that for free. Still just a theory, so no guarantees from me.

Any chance we could have a touring plans thread on dischurners? I would love to see everyone's plans.

For our last trip (Christmas week so super crowded), I had our mornings pretty well planned because of FPs but had to leave the afternoons up to chance -- I wasn't sure whether the better option would be standby or try for extra FPs.
I’d love to see what others do and what works for them. For anyone who’s willing to share.

I forgot about the executive membership. Is it on the whole amount or before taxes and fees? I wonder how it will play into it transferring since I have already paid the deposit...

It’s just on the fare. I transferred from obb and it should be on full amount and you get it as long as you are an executive member before the cruise. I upgraded a few weeks before.

This sounds awesome! Do you have to pay with the Costco CC? Did you compare this to using Chase Cruise TA? I wonder if it comes out ahead to book through Costco and cash out UR's to pay the bill if you can use a CSR card instead of the Costco card? Hmmm, may need to look into this a little more for our next cruise. Our last cruise I booked direct and then transferred to Chase and paid with CSR 1.5 redemption. It was really nice to have a TOTALLY free cruise!

Flying back from our Disney cruise. Sitting at Skyclub at MCO because there were no good flights from Miami. The drive was 3 hours but not bad. We had lunch at Disney Springs! The cruise was great. I got asked "where are your kids" 978 times. Finally DH was like NO KIDS! Lol. Met some nice couples too. Weather was lovely. Escaped the polar vortex! Bought an overpriced spirit jersey :)

We did the on board DVC presentation and I won the $200 OBC!

I have a million pages to catch up on... I am seeing something about referrals and taxes?
