Was checking all my rental cars this weekend. Rates down on two of my trips for a total of $120. Rebooked those.

Looked at some of my hotels which I never really think to do and one of those is down in cost for another $20. Plus I checked the Chase site for John Muir Lodge and it is now on there for my date! So saving $250 for that one night.

Nice savings for the weekend.

I don’t think I’ve ever mentally recovered from losing my favorite dish (Braised Beef crepe) at Cafe Orleans right before my trip. It’s scaring when that happens at your Happy Place!

As a fellow Disneylander, can I share in your misery and pour one over the loss of my ahi poke and avocado with chips and the pupu platter at Trader Sam’s? :drinking1

...speaking of shows, since ya'll got me watching them with your talk of Maisel...I need a new one to start.

I did maisel, call the midwife, the crown, and just caught up the new season of this is us.

I loved all those. I don't do scary or violent, or anything resembling the local 6pm news crimes....any suggestions?

Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.

I’ve been away from the boards because we’re taking the long weekend to do some much needed new year cleaning and purging. Not going full-on KonMari, but definitely decluttering and finding a bunch of new (old) items to list on eBay.

Been doing the same this weekend! Mine is mostly homeschool curriculum but since my youngest is 2nd grade, I can sell all the PreK-2nd I'm not using plus all the older stuff I hated the first time around :) My 'business' is in full swing!

Lol - no upon further review it's a 4 day a week morning program that costs $1,620 annually lol. That's why it only gets me $324 (20% of the cost)

I love how I overthink this stuff. Also - sorry I kinda sent us down a tax discussion today totally off topic. You guys are all awesome though so I love hearing everybody's viewpoints on different stuff!

EDIT: I guess in my tax situation it comes down to my assessment of this statement:

Part-time work: If you work part-time, you generally must figure your expenses for each day. However, if you have to pay for care weekly, monthly, or in another way that includes both days worked and days not worked, you can figure your credit including the expenses you paid for days you didn't work. Any day when you work at least 1 hour is a day of work.

Well - that and the likelihood that somebody with a normal middle class income and standard deduction gets audited LOL (probably miniscule)
wow, that is a bargain of a school! My DD goes 3 days and it is $415/month. It is 9-3 though, but still!

Just the ad for that got me to take an old suitcase full of stuff to my donate place!

:drinking1 Yours is mind boggling tbh. With all the menu updates going out for cooler food items “ahi poke” “avocado” “pupu platter” should be added to menus not taken away!

I sold about $250 worth of DD's outgrown boutique clothes this weekend too. All our businesses are doing so well already this year!:goodvibes

I’m old school and first print out tax forms...do them myself then compare to turbo tax...
This! That's how I learned in college (accounting degree) so I still print them and do them out by hand. I love figuring it out myself!

we're freezing here in NW FL. It's in the 40s! Hopefully it will warm up in Orlando for your trip.
I wish it was in the 40's! I'm suffering in the teens right now, lol.

People I work with know I am Disney obsessed. When I come back from vacation they jokingly ask, "when is the next trip?" The real "joke" is that I have the next 3 trips already booked via bounce back or magical deals before I went on the past one! :rotfl:

I always try to gauge what level of knowledge people already have or where they are in the planning stages before I offer assistance. If you've never heard of FP+, I may explain tiers and share the "best" tier 1's based on crowds. If you're at a monorail resort I will explain the different loops. If your child has a favorite character, I will share the meals/areas that feature said character. Really love Star Wars? I will say oh there is a great dessert party! I've also shared magical deals with people if I know they're looking early enough. I try not to give TOO much advice because I feel it will only backfire on me by overwhelming them or making them feel forced to do something and then think oh, Rob told me to do this and I had a horrible time o_O

So funny. I brought my mom along on our last trip and she kept asking how we were getting on rides and told her we had reservations, haha. It was just easier than trying to explain.

I’m actually happy about eating at crystal palace. I love Mac and cheese too!
Mac and Cheese is my favorite food in the whole world!!

I’m headed to Orlando Thursday for work. Taking a trip to Naples as well. Will be in FL for eight days. Guess I’m packing cashmere sweaters and uggs!

To those of you going to the parks, I hope the forecast improves. But I think if dressed appropriately it will be fine.

I took a trip in Feb one year and my DS refused to leave his winter coat in the car at the airport. It was so cold in Orlando that they were covering the shrubs at Pop from the frost. We were all buying sweatshirts and still freezing while my DS happily walked around in his winter coat!

So you now have me super curious as to how you are going to eat in Japan? I have no interest in going to Asia since DS and I would starve there. Poor DH is Vietnamese and I want nothing to do with it. Way too exotic for me! Heck, when we go to PF Chang’s DS and I special order there. Me- beef and broccoli hold the garlic, onion and ginger (and I give DH the broccoli so I really just eat the beef) and DS- side of lo mein no garlic and meat.
I have told Haley this already but “plain” eaters can still find plenty to eat. You just can’t do any special orders at restaurants, etc. You have to find something you like, as it is, with no alterations. You can find ramen, curry (not spicy Indian curry but a very mild curry with fried pork/chicken & plain white rice), dumplings, shrimp or vegetable tempura, teriyaki chicken & beef, udon with dipping sauce that you can use or not use as you prefer, etc. And, unless you’re going to the most rural area imaginable, just about any Western food you like will be available, up to & including McDonald’s. Yeah, Japanese food is great, but if you don’t like it, then you don’t like it. Why should you suffer? Eat your fries with no judgment from me!
