...speaking of shows, since ya'll got me watching them with your talk of Maisel...I need a new one to start.

I did maisel, call the midwife, the crown, and just caught up the new season of this is us.

I loved all those. I don't do scary or violent, or anything resembling the local 6pm news crimes....any suggestions?
Timeless (on Hulu). Only 2 seasons but NBC gave them 2 episodes to wrap the story up and it was one of the best finales I’ve ever seen. Answered all the q’s and turned it into a limited series basically. Family friendly.

Are there other gift cards you can get that would maximize the bonus? Im planning on a CF so that I can buy amazon gift cards and save some money on Christmas that way. Or actually, I just need to see what card has bonuses on categories where I can get gift cards for things I need anyways.

I do use a lot of other gift cards but typically I buy them at Kroger during 4x fuel points and I use my BCP for 6% back. That works out to 20% for me because we totally maximize the fuel points, especially during mowing season. We have four (soon to be five, yikes!) drivers and 7 acres so it works.

Well I just chatted with Amex AGAIN about the airline credits on my Plat and Gold cards. They still hadn't posted and the bill for the plat is due soon. The only thing on that card was the seat upgrades I bought. And the only reason I upgraded was because they were "free."

Well I made my displeasure known and the lady doing the chat went ahead and forced through the credit on both cards so that is resolved. I bought my upgrades on Jan. 1. In the past I've always used my airline credits on the first day of the new year. Now I might way a day or two.

I'm still reading in the old thread. Thanks guys! It really flipping hurts. The pain comes and goes. The anger comes and goes. The sadness comes and goes. The worst was last night my 9yo facetimed with me (was at his dads) and with tears in his eyes asked, who will play nerf guns with me? That made me want to call the jerk and make him see what this knee jerk move did. But I'm doing the whole no contact, and trying to just work through it all and make me a better me.

In credit card news....I think I'm about to hit the spend on the Aspire. I'm actually SCARED at my balances right now. Damn you Christmas! My 9yo has a hockey tournament in Nashville over President's Weekend. Between the ex's URs and mine we're flying down for free :) (35k URs). I'll get free luggage (Thank you Delta Gold Card). I have a rental SUV for $80 that my CSR credit will cover. Too bad I can't chose the hotel and get points, LOL. Then when I get back I'm flipping around the next day and heading down to Myrtle Beach to meet up with a friend and drink it up, LOL. So I'm wasting no time I guess on traveling w/o him.

When I get the kids back on Sunday I'm going to ask them where they might like to go for Spring Break and start to plan that. I do this game for a reason...I was hoping to travel with him and the kids, but now I guess we'll make memories without him!
:grouphug:

...Unfortunately, the only "side" business I have going on is eBay...
What up fellow eBayer! Fwiw I don’t discuss past sales but I’m always optimistic about the next Holiday season you know? I’ve gotten a few biz cc’s and 3 biz bank accounts (2 of which I did face to face with bankers at Chase & WF) my “biz”.

My business is also about to take off this year...I'm thinking at least $5k of revenue...the past is the past ;)

And “DH” is proud new owner of a WF checking account. I figure it much easier to track, if I have to do DD at the same time. Thank goodness we have been together for almost 25 years. I’ll wait and open his PNC account in Feb since I was supposed only be doing one bank bonus a month and I am now up to 3 :)

Love having a new thread!

Chase Offers: When does the offer disappear? I'm hoping my staples.com purchase triggered the offer, the charge has posted, but the offer is still showing as "added".
Yes, wondering myself if buying VSCG on staples.com would work to trigger the Chase offer?

Welcome to the "I Love Credit Cards" Thread!!

This is a continuation from our Original Thread which generated over 2million views and 70k comments!!

If you are NEW to this thread, please read the first few comments on this page to find out a little bit about us. However, after that don't try to read through every page. If you want to get a feel for us maybe peruse the last 25-50 pages. This thread moves very fast and information may become outdated :)

What is this thread?
  • A positive and drama free place to discuss credit card rewards with fellow DISers
  • A community of contributors who want to help others travel for free (or at very discounted rates)
  • A group of people who are unified in our goal to maximize returns on our purchases but diverse in our goals on what to do with those points
  • We have experts in numerous rewards programs frequenting the thread each day including: Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Citi Thank You Points and virtually every major frequent flyer and hotel rewards program.
  • See comment 2 for how to properly ask for advice. Depending on what your travel goals (or financial goals) are, we can assist in creating a customized strategy to generate THOUSANDS of dollars in free travel or cash on your everyday purchases!
What isn't this thread?
  • This is NOT A place to discuss strategies to pay-down credit card debt, take advantage of balance transfer or 0% interest offers, or anything else related to credit card debt.
  • It is HIGHLY recommended to avoid the "churning" game if you currently have or are susceptible to credit card debt. The cards we will advocate for may have exorbitant interest rates and fees. This does not bother us because we DON'T pay interest EVER and the benefits of the cards outweigh any fees.
  • There are numerous places on the DIS where qualified and helpful people will give you advice on CC debt, this just isn't one of them :)
  • Even if you are a "credit card debt avoider" please be aware of your spending habits. Some of the cards we will advocate will require spending a large amount in the first 90 days, do not allow this to affect your spending patterns. Free travel is only truly free if you earn it from your regular everyday spend!
Also - a huge shout-out to @FairestOfThemAll37 for creating the original thread. I'm sure she never envisioned in July of 2016 that this simply titled thread would become one of the most prolific in DISboards history!

Additional Note: We are like a family here. Some of us have been on the original thread since the beginning and many have been around for well over a year. We know each other's families, travel styles and preferences. The discussion will move fast and furious and you may be lost at first. If you ask for advice, don't worry, we will eventually see it and help you! If you don't get a response ask again. And if you see us having fun with each other or making jokes, know that it is ALL out of love!!

Ugh, I got 20 pages from what I thought was caught up and figured out we have a new thread and I am still 60 pages behind. Haven’t caught up since our DL trip back on the 6th. Think the new thread is a great idea. Now back to read those 20 pages so I can start the new thread.

Spring Break! And I’m not enamored of waiting an hour or more.
Our whole family loves Fantasmic! Really not a bad seat in the house, except near the front if you don't like to get wet. We typically are racing around and get some of the last seats, and it's never been a problem. Someone else mentioned you can burn a FP, but we've never found it necessary.

As a veteran of many Spring Break WDW campaigns, my advice is to book whatever you really want to do (like Fantasmic) so that you can focus on the stuff you can't book in advance. It's a very busy time in the parks, but with the silver linings of fantastic weather and extended park hours (or at least that's how it worked for us). As long as you have a plan (and it sounds like you've already made a good one) it's more than manageable.
They sometimes run the show twice an evening during peak times. The second one is always much easier to get a seat.

What the french, toast? I work for 3 days and come back to a new thread already on page 34! Lol. I guess I should get to reading :surfweb:

I don't have anything exciting to say except for maybe a little venting. Here goes:
Is anyone else the travel and credit card guru with their coworkers/family? I feel like it is a blessing and a curse. From my estimations most people are relatively clueless to travel planning except maybe the handful locations they frequent. Like they don't even know WDW has 4 parks most of the time. Or that it isn't the same as Universal! Every few days I work I get someone that wants me to put together a 'quote' of how much it is going to cost their family to go to WDW/DL/Hawaii/Florida. I spend all this time putting together something for them, education about the parks, etc. and then when they see the price they go :earseek: and ask how I go so often which leads to a mini-lesson in churning and me recommending maybe one or two cards to offset the travel expenses and then NOTHIN'. They don't go. They just sort of fizzle out. UGH! It is so annoying! I guess this is probably the life of a TA--I am just not paid for it :rotfl:. I did have one co-worker that texted me and was like "we just booked a 7 night Expedia package at (insert some obscure hotel) WDW for $8500. Is that a good price?" :scared1: . I made her cancel immediately, we changed her travel dates to leave two days earlier meaning she got a few extra days, switched her to the Swolphin, and still ended up saving her like $1500. She came back and was like 'Ya. That was terrible. We are not theme park people.". She was thankful I saved her money but was very clear they would not be doing that again.

As an aside I met my MSR on my Cap1 Savor ($500!) and DH's SW Biz (60k)....with the assistance of just a couple of MO's:scratchin.

Aaaaaaand I leave for WDW in 3 days for a glorious kid-free trip with our besties, staying at BWV/BLT. Strolling all leisurely to Epcot, DHS, and MK (with no little's to have hangry meltdowns and complain that it's too much walking) and signing our hearts out at Jellyrolls. I don't think I have been this excited about a trip in quite some time. :hyper:

That is all.
I definitely know how you feel with people asking for wdw help. I get the weirdest looks when I get into FPS and dining reservations. My mom still doesn’t understand the whole 180+ and 60+ system.

We’ll be at wdw in 8 days! I can’t wait because it’s absolutelu freezing here now. Our first night at wdw is showing a low of 39 though which seems pretty darn cold for Florida. We were planning on going to jelly rolls and the dance hall for the first time this trip. Do you have any tips about them?

We've found that sitting in different places in Fantasmic may cause you to notice different things. We usually would sit in the top right of theater to make a quick exit but the last couple of times sat elsewhere and that was cool to see a different perspective. I agree that there probably isn't a bad seat for that show - there's so much to see!

I hate when Disney changes menus right before my trip! I've had it happen enough times that I obsessively check the menus multiple times prior to arrival. I understand that there needs to be change, but why after I planned something so perfectly? lol

Tambu Lounge removed some of my favorites and I am still coping with that.
I don’t think I’ve ever mentally recovered from losing my favorite dish (Braised Beef crepe) at Cafe Orleans right before my trip. It’s scaring when that happens at your Happy Place!
