Liberty tree tavern or the plaza.
You beat me to it! My exact thoughts for simpler/plainer food in/around MK.

ALTHOUGH the Plaza removed a bunch of stuff from the dinner menu back in December. No more Plaza Club at dinner, just lunch! I cancelled my ADR after contemplating if they would give me something off the lunch menu for a 4:00pm "dinner" prior to MVMCP

Lurker here...I was just telling DH we need to jump on the CC churning bandwagon :)

Regarding taxes...for those of you who do your own taxes online (Turbotax, etc), I would suggest running your information through a couple of different companies to make sure you're getting the best possible refund. For some reason, my refunds are always higher when I use H&R Block. I told my sister this and she went from owing on Turbotax to getting a refund on H&R Block. Never hurts to check.

We've used an accountant for over 25 years. Our taxes have always been very complicated. I'm a non-practicing attorney and I wouldn't dream of attempting them myself. Checking them is difficult enough.

We use an accountant too but DH spends so much time preparing them for the accountant I'm not sure why.

Ditto from me. I wait until last possible second. Last year I was able to us my AMEX platinum business to get 1.5x points on a big tax bill. Silver lining :) We are in the same boat with AMT--been hit by it for last 20 years. Part of the living in CA premium :( I'm hoping the new tax law helps with AMT at least.

I was tallying up my 2018 Amex spend and I did the same-paid the large initial tax bill with the Plat Biz to meet MSR and get 1.5 x MRs. Between 2017 taxes and estimated taxes, 25% of my (too large) spend with Amex went to the IRS. Ugh. At least we don't have state taxes here. Silver lining!

@Haley R - I eat like a 5 year old. The nice thing about CP is that it has kids' food on the buffet so no shame in mac and cheese and chicken fingers as well as "adult" food on your plate. TBH I could just eat mac and cheese and mashed potatoes all day. :D

@linzjane88 - we're freezing here in NW FL. It's in the 40s! Hopefully it will warm up in Orlando for your trip.

@MKTokyo - congrats on the good news-house and a venue! Whoo hoo!

I've never found it necessary to SM about an offer that's a straight up general offer.... is this necessary?(asking for myself) Also I thought I'd read there are negatives to combining perosnal and biz acct pages with Chase? or did I get that wrong?
true, but when someone isnt sure of their sign up bonus, the only way to find out exactly is by SM and ask... Whoever i answered the question to wasnt sure if he did it correctly, i just said if he wasnt sure of his bonus, just SM.
Earlier in the year, when Chasepay started, ppl with combined accounts had some issues getting it to work... it has so far not caused a problem...

We use an accountant too but DH spends so much time preparing them for the accountant I'm not sure why.
My dad has 3 corporations to deal with, he keeps it pretty up to date and such throughout the years so he doesnt need to spend time to prepare them, but its A LOT of stuff to do. Accountant sorta just goes over it.

This year is a big weird for me, since i do have a passive GC resales going on, none of us whom ive learned from really knows what to do... lol.

That's truthfully pretty concerning! To come to a different result, something must be input differently. There should be no difference regardless of who you use. Granted, I am a tax geek and spreadsheet geek so I know not everybody can do this, but I have a spreadsheet where I independently input all my figures and calculate my AGI, itemized deductions, taxable income, and tax burden, etc and verify it against the tax preparing software to make sure it's right.

I also might feel like this when preparing my taxes vs. the major tax software...

Is anyone else the travel and credit card guru with their coworkers/family? I feel like it is a blessing and a curse.
People I work with know I am Disney obsessed. When I come back from vacation they jokingly ask, "when is the next trip?" The real "joke" is that I have the next 3 trips already booked via bounce back or magical deals before I went on the past one! :rotfl:

I always try to gauge what level of knowledge people already have or where they are in the planning stages before I offer assistance. If you've never heard of FP+, I may explain tiers and share the "best" tier 1's based on crowds. If you're at a monorail resort I will explain the different loops. If your child has a favorite character, I will share the meals/areas that feature said character. Really love Star Wars? I will say oh there is a great dessert party! I've also shared magical deals with people if I know they're looking early enough. I try not to give TOO much advice because I feel it will only backfire on me by overwhelming them or making them feel forced to do something and then think oh, Rob told me to do this and I had a horrible time o_O

That is so odd, since the same information entered should = same amount of tax paid
I’m an accountant, have used turbo tax for years...but always know what we should be paying even before entering the info in turbo tax

We've found that sitting in different places in Fantasmic may cause you to notice different things. We usually would sit in the top right of theater to make a quick exit but the last couple of times sat elsewhere and that was cool to see a different perspective. I agree that there probably isn't a bad seat for that show - there's so much to see!

This is what we do too!

I don't have anything exciting to say except for maybe a little venting. Here goes:
Is anyone else the travel and credit card guru with their coworkers/family? I feel like it is a blessing and a curse.

its been quite a curse to me, i sorta no longer tell people how to do it, because at the end, they end up blaming you for their mistakes and expects you to do it for them...

This makes me so happy to hear!! LOL!

I do my sister's taxes, and when she comes over I start by doing a spreadsheet and calculating the expected result. She's always like "why do you do this" and I tell her, I won't know if something is wrong if I don't first know the right answer!

I started checking the weather a week ago and check 3-4...ok like 10 times daily. And yes I agree I wish it would be a little warmer!! Luckily it’s not bad cold though (yet???)
So there are several of us going at the same time, right...

@Haley R , @SouthFayetteFan , myself, and @linzjane88

how exciting. I am super annoyed with the weather situation though. Esp the pm we plan to do DAH at MK. I'm not sure if I want to stick with it now or not. :(

There was a tale recently of somebody on r/churning that I believe was a 15 yr customer or something like that and recently got a pop up so unfortunately that may not keep you safe. I’ll try to find it.

EDIT: Actually it was a customer for a decade, has paid AFs on cards throughout that time period. Was denied a bonus (with no pop up warning) on Schwab Plat...wow, These denials with no pop up to me are way more frustrating than seeing the pop up.

Putting on my tinfoil hat... I don’t believe they have a system for denying bonuses in place beyond the pop up. I think the computer screws up & bonuses don’t track, and Amex just cites this as the reason. Otherwise we wouldn’t have DPs all over the consumer behavior map. Amex bonuses not tracking were not an unusual thing to see before Amex started the pop-ups and “enforcing” this new fine print but we don’t have one DP since this started of someone whose bonus “didn’t track”...

that actually makes alot of sense

I suspect last year 90% of my Amex spend went to the IRS :( I spend a ton of time preparing my taxes as well. It's partly to keep the accountant hours down, and also to make sure we have all the necessary documents. I have multiple investment accounts at numerous companies (institutional diversity!), so that's a big part of it. We've also done Quicken for over 25 years so I usually have to go through that to make sure all the tax relevant things are categorized right before filling out our accountant's tax forms. This year, thanks to downsizing over 75% of our stuff, I have about 15 charitable receipts to go through (we still itemize). Tax prep is a major project!

Sorry my response got caught up in the quote and it won't let me remove it! My response is last paragraph.
