I've heard good things about Princess. That should be a lot of fun! I'm not sure when we will do our first cruise. I think it will be an Alaskan one whenever we decide to try it out.

depends on what your looking for... my family and I had a ton of fun flying to Fairbanks and took a train down to Anchorage.

Also, I should of mentioned this. WE NEVER pay interest charges on credit cards, we pay off our cc monthly. We also, rarely pay AF, I call after the first year and they give me another year or two for free. I had my husband as an AU on one of Disney Chase CC that I cancelled him off of a few days ago and I was on one of his Chase cc, which I cancelled myself off a few days ago. I believe we are both now 4/24. I will be 3/24 come this April, 2019.
I would also specifically recommend that you signup for a FREE account at Experian.com and verify the exact list of you cards and approval dates (mind you that any card - open or closed - showing on your credit report counts towards 5/24). This would also let you verify when you get the AU situation resolved. :)

Fun! My extended family is big on Princess. They really enjoy the ships. We have a 4nt DCL one booked to Cabo but I'm hoping to switch it to something longer when they release the Summer 2020 cruises. We took my DM to Alaska with us on DCL, and she had been twice already on Princess out of SF, and she said there were pros and cons of both lines and likes them both.

Preview of snacks to be offered on SW Hawaii flights:

Nothing surprising...no hot meals. I will link to news thread also. :)

That's actually really nice. DD flies the 6 hour flights from college to home on AA and they don't give passengers any snack at all. It's pretty ridiculous. Her friend who flies home to London, so 7 hours, gets 2 full meals.

We took DCL to Alaska the first year they offered it - great cruise! It was my favorite cruise until we took the Norway/Iceland/Scotland one.

I've done lots of cruises on many lines and Princess remains my favorite. My recent DCL is a close second. But I think Princess had better food and the ship was gorgeous. You will love it.

This is great to hear. We want new and interesting itineraries, and DCL is making us look at other lines. Princess is definitely on my radar. My DM didn't have email the last time she cruised with Princess, so I had to do the check in for her and now all the ads and emails still come to my email address, trying to lure me to book.

So now I’ve been perusing that useaamiles website. :rolleyes1
If I do book DLR next year, we may be spending the last 2 nights at GCH. Damn you people and your perverted redemptions.

I guess knowing I can book a $25,000 first class RT flight for less AA miles flying on JAL to go visit Tokyo DL or TDS again is what will prevent me from ever using AA miles for GCH. I will say that using AA miles for GCH is still far more reasonable (even for me) than trying to use Amex MR points

I know it's tough to get a DVC point stay at GCH if it isn't your home resort, unless you are super flexible on dates. The hotel side via DVC points is an option though which I have used before.

All right, you made me look, since you mentioned GCH. I am rather fond of GCH for our DLR visits. I picked 2 nights in June just to see and it is 175k miles! If I didn't use AA miles for international flights up front with @PlanePrincess I could see myself hopping on the grAAvy train and using AA miles for GCH on our DLR trips. But that isn't the case.

I came to the same conclusion. The 3 days in October I looked at was around 250K miles for the lowest level room. I just can't do that when I could use those miles to fly somewhere. I guess it's good we all want different things, since then we aren't all competing for the same redemptions. I was hopeful until I saw the cost - we've been staying at the GCH for years but they are pricing me out these days.

Oooo that one sounds even better!

In CC news, I'm thinking about being brave (finally) and applying for a CIP. I don't have any biz cards at all, and I'm nervous about it all. But I guess a denial isn't really that big of a deal, right? Worth the risk? If anyone has words of advice I'd love to read them. The AA FOMO is real, but I think URs would serve us better at the moment...
We can be brave together. I am also going to apply for a CIP after March 1st. I am nervous too, lol. I already lowered my one Chase CL but not the other. Now it’s probably too late. I also have a citi with a CL that is higher than it needs to be.

I am so excited for these new entrants into the biz card market!! You go guys!! URs here you come :)

uh oh... big news coming out soon...
you AA folks may not like it(maybe)...

edit: posted in news.

At least not a big deal to us using AA miles for Disney LOL! (Sorry to those it would actually affect)

EDIT: Here’s what was posted on r/churning regarding it:

RUMOR: Etihad to join Star Alliance, leave American partnership. As early as the end of March.

Multiple sources leaking this info, seems semi-solid at this point. A lot of ramifications obviously.

Reported on award travel fb group

@amalone1013 - I need to borrow your :badpc::badpc::badpc:

Blasted *&%$@# airline partnerships. That one was next on the list interesting planes to fly. Back to the drawing board to find another way to experience the apartment. #travelhackingproblems

Give yourself to the Dark Side. Join us and we will complete your training. :darth:

Settle down there Kylo Ren  Just because I won't be able to use AA miles to fly the apartment on Etihad doesn't mean I'll use them for a Disney hotel. I plan on visiting the Tokyo parks to see all the new things they are adding down the line. JAL is still an AA partner so that's my ticket back to my favorite Disney park.

I'm with your wife. Our last mattress I would sink into and it felt like I was in a cocoon. I love that. It is in DS11's room now and I often go lay with him to read and miss it so much.

I guess ours casper is original, because there wasn't more than one type when we bought it. In disclosure, DH chose the casper b/c of radio ads and would likely never admit he didn't like it b/c of that. :ssst:

I’m a sixth grade reading teacher, and I just had to post and love on that fact that you read to your 11 year old! I wish all parents would!

View from the Wing is posting about Marriott asking for cash deposits on point award bookings, and high deposits at that. It's not seen unless you read the fine print.

That happened to me when I priced out a points ressie at swolphin a month or two ago. I think I asked about it here and it got pushed upthread before anyone answered.

The cash price for those 2 nights was $729 a night! There's no way I'd pay that. The cost in DVC points for a hotel room during the same time frame is 134 points. If a DVC studio was available it would be 64 points, however, I've only managed getting a DVC room there at the 7 month window once.

Yeah, I'd much rather use AA miles for flights too.
