What we've done mostly successfully before is find a piece of cardboard, or something else thin and stiff, put that at the edge of the table. Slide the puzzle off the table and onto the cardboard then use another piece of cardboard or foam over top to sandwich and then flip it. Helps to have two people and sometimes works to put the foam on top as you're sliding put a little pressure on it evenly. I like the idea of sliding waxpaper under it first, or maybe parchment paper?, might make it slide better. Then once you flip there usually just a few that need to be flattened back.
We don’t have foam but Dh said we could use the cardboard idea. Is it hard to get the wax paper under the puzzle?

I got an e-mail from AmEx this morning saying that my free weekend night posted (from my Aspire) and that I will receive an e-mail from Hilton within 8-12 weeks with instructions on how to redeem (that seems long!).

Now to source where I can best use it. I saw the Conrad Fort Lauderdale on the list of properties and thought that might be good for a 1 night break! Or maybe I can put it towards the Conrad Maldives next year (spring, 2020). I won't let it go to waste! Does it have to be used in the 2019 calendar year or can I carry it forward to 2020? Anyone know @calypso726 ?!
I actually received the email from Hilton first, then from AMEX the next day. Check your junk/spam/clutter folder to make sure you don't miss that email from Hilton because it will have the reward ID# in that email with instructions on how to redeem. I'm waiting for DH's to come through any day now! We'll be using one of them at the Grand Wailea after Christmas and the other one probably at Hotel Del Coronado for our anniversary.

Ok, so after finding the discussion (which had been downvoted into oblivion and automatically collapsed so I thought @striker1064 was nutz ) it looks like it's mostly around AA gift cards bought recently, like after 2/8 possibly (https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/aps8tw/discussion_thread_february_12_2019/egb0rk3/).

SW seems to be fine again. There seems to be a hold up on GCs purchased exactly on 1/31 but ones bought before and after have been reimbursed from what I can tell. (here's one from that FT thread https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/30748493-post1590.html) But looks like the last few posts on FT are stuck on the 1/31 reimbursement problem so I didn't notice anything after that 2/8 date. For now I'd suspect this is a AA problem until more info comes in.

Argh, just my luck. :crazy2: I think my $200 AA GC on 2/11 is not going to credit. It's still pending though, so I can't see if it says gift cards. The one on 2/7 did post, from the DPs looks like that was the very last day.

And so the game changes.

My friends bought this puzzle. I don't think it will ever get finished, maybe half done and they have lost interest in it.

I am going to buy this puzzle someday -- once I figure out a space in my house that would work for putting together even one of the sections.

Seeing some chatter on today's r/churning DD thread about GCs not triggering Amex reimbursement as of a few days ago, because the charge details are now coding as "gift card". Anyone have any very recent DPs? ,

I got an AA gift card on 2/4 with my rose gold card. Credit posted 2/7. From the sound of things I may have just gotten in under the wire!

I like the puzzles from White Mountain puzzle company. They make some 1000 piece puzzles that are relatively easy and fun if you’re into history/geography/nature. The completed puzzles look like a chart of the 50 state birds or flags etc. There’s a National Parks one, Presidents, Civil War, Birds of the Backyard.

Cancelling cards has no affect on your credit.

That said...I will reiterate that there is no good reason to close a card in the first year! The only thing that can come of that is upsetting the bank. There really is nothing to keep track of - login to Chase (or mint.com) and make sure the card balance is at $0. I’d honestly leave a no AF card open forever (or until I had a good reason to close it) :)

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have quite a few old credit cards open that I never, ever use. I just wanted to close this one quickly so I don't have to keep track of it. It is a fee-free card, so it's not a big deal.

We already both have Chase Visas, but DH is an authorized user on mine. I wanted him to have his own account to earn the bonus. Hopefully it works!

I was planning on cancelling this one and hoping to earn the bonus again in a few years when they offer it.

Holy cow, that's so awesome. But I literally have nowhere to hang it in my house... there is no wall big enough unless we think my garage needs some artwork (and even then I'm not entirely sure I won't have to shave some inches off) However, if I spent that much on a puzzle that sucker is getting finished, mounted, and possible posted online or bringing viewing tours through to marvel at it.
I'm kinda glad they didn't do multiple sizes otherwise I might contemplate it.

I haven't done myself I don't think but I imagine as long as it's wider and longer than the puzzle, should be pretty straight forward. It's been a while since we moved a puzzle so I can't recall if we tried it before or not. We bought one of those roll up mats to do the puzzle on so if we need to move it out of the way we just roll it up and then unroll it when we're ready to go again. It's not perfect but it's easier to move an unfinished puzzle around while you're working on it, and then if we need to flip we put the carboard on top of the mat to sandwich it.

Hi everyone! I posted awhile ago on the original thread. I noticed the new one but for some reason I wasn’t following it. Im posting because I applied the other day for the BoA Cash Rewards card. I figured it would make a good “everyday” card with my CFU. These are the cards I currently have: CF, CFU, CSP, Disney VISA, Discover it, AmEx Blue Cash, and TD Cash.

I have no relationship with BoA, and my application is “in review.” I’m thinking if it doesn’t get approved it might be because of my 2 applications for the Disney Visa and Discover it back in the fall. It won’t be the end of the world, but I’d like the card for the choice of the 3% category that can be changed every month! Does anyone have this card? Any pros/cons? Is BoA difficult to get approved with?

The kids here are getting kind of sick of it. Well you still get the couple that hate everything about school. It makes it super hard on the teachers and me as a sub because the kids have completely forgotten how to behave at school.

I think we got like 5+ I’m not sure though. Dh had to take something to the post office today and said he got stuck three times. They decided not to plow the street next to us which is absolutely ridiculous
We have eLearning at our school, so no days have to be made up at the end.

Based on your last sentence I’d just leave this open a year so you don’t make Chase angry. Have you considered looking at some of the other great offers that are out there. The Disney visa offer is decent but some of us in the thread (many of us really) are earning thousands each year in signup bonuses. :)

Hey everyone! I have a CSP travel protection question. I have a five night trip to Pop next week. I am getting a little nervous bc I’m flying out of PHL and my weather is looking iffy. I’m not worried about flight refunds bc I booked southwest flights. However, I booked my Pop room with discounted gift cards. I have a $.57 balance left. If I pay my fifty seven cent balance with my CSP, would I be eligible for the entire cost of my room for the days I miss due to weather? Or would I only get back the fifty seven cents?
Thanks in advance!

I like to tell them they have more money than sense. This is also friends who buy everything on debit cards, credit cards are bad and you see how much they drop on a puzzle, so lets just say their monthly spending is probably my yearly spending. :sad2::sad2: They had a wall picked out, their house is pretty big. Each section is fairly large, they were putting it together in their dining area. Each section on a big piece cardboard. Without going into too much detail (they are obviously big Disney fans, they could be on here.lol) the joint effort of the puzzle, and other things :rolleyes1, is no longer joint. So that has killed any motivation to finish it, especially since the current occupant of the house is actually not the one the bought the puzzle in the first place.

Dang it! I knew I shouldn't have procrastinated buying those gift certificates.
