I had a major serve fail yesterday when I tried to load a $200 visa card at Dollar General. Their computer system was slow and it wouldn't process after I entered my pin# so I told the cashier just to cancel it after the second try. She did and gave me a receipt for $0. When I got home I checked the balance on the Visa and it was $0 and showed a $200 transaction to Dollar General. It's not showing up in my Serve account. I called DG and they went through all their receipts and said their drawer balanced. Anyone have any suggestions where to go from here?

Back to Dollar General with your receipt and a copy of the Visa balance showing the transaction? I wouldn't trust that phone call response.

Just used some of my fee free plastiq dollars to pay my daughter's paino teacher. They reviewed the payment - wanted proof it wasn't just a peer to peer payment, and were looking for an invoice or website or something. I was stumped for a minute (paying by plastic because this teacher won't take paypal or venmo or anything - she says she doesn't even us ATMs so checks and cash are all she will accept - couldn't imagine trying to get an invoice or something from her). Then I remembered that her bio is posted on the website for the school where she teaches. Fortunately, they took that and approved the payment .

Working on DH's CIP#2 spend. Its super annoying - it is going to be for his real business, but that business won't incur $5k of expenses within the SUB period, so I'm trying to burn through as much of the spend as I can - the accounting is a pain because we really can't co-mingle funds between his business and out personal stuff, so I'm having to track the transfers back and forth very carefully. And I'm locked out of online access for the business checking account, and need DH to call and reset it - hopefully we don't have to spend hours at the bank tomorrow getting it sorted out like @amalone1013

I had the Chase offer for ATT - two purchases of $15, get $35 credit. I made two payments on my account, last one on Monday but I dont have any notifications that I triggered the offer. Does paying a bill not work? What works to trigger it?

Wait it out. The funds probably got refunded to the card and that can take 7-10 days. I wouldn’t worry yet or drive 90 mins to the store.

Back in the day I purchased a MO with a VGC and a manger saw after the transaction went through so they had to refund me. The funds got added to my VGC but it took a bit.

It's less bother for me to just carry my passport when I need to. And, for us, we definitely have shown less documentation to get our Passports and GE's

Definitely a good PSA for anyone starting out getting all these documents! Get one that has the name you want to use for the rest of your life and then make sure all the others match as you get them!!

Yes, this is what we will be doing, just traveling with our passports. Getting the passport was actually way less hassle than the DMV.

It is something that I see what happens in the future and tell my girls about as they get older and start to get more documents with their legal names on them.

As far as I understand, and from a quick google of the real id act, he can still travel by carrying his passport. And, I have a real ID license since 2017 for Maryland - my star is not yellow? Is it yellow in your state? edit - I googled and see it now. My DL (and star) looks like this:

I know he can use his passport but he is insistent that his non federal ID DL is compliant because our state was not listed. I think I may have convinced him last time we argued about it. But he still says he will worry about it when he needs to and not before. Though I know how long they take to come back, several weeks, so you can’t wait too long if you need it. Our passports expire soon too so may not have that either.

I also dropped both my kids at college yesterday (they are both going to the same college). It was horrible. I cried so many times. If I hear the word "empty nester" one more time - I think I will strangle someone. DD18 was very hesitant and I think just scared and nervous. She has like 6 other good friends from school there and her brother so I'm sure she will be fine - just going to take a little time. Her roommate seems nice and is also in the Nursing Program so that is nice too. Now I have to come up with some new hobbies...

I was freaking out because the cards say they can’t be reloaded lol but refunds are fine lol to make matters worse the guy refunded me a $1 more than he was supposed to so the balance going back to the card was $501 and it was a $500 GC. The $501 went on the card without any issues after a few days so I profited a $1 lol I would have said something but I didn’t realize until I got home and I wasn’t going to fix their mistake and drawing more attention to myself

Easy, very reliably pays out on a set schedule as well so you know you did everything right. Only downside is you need to babysit the account for 6 months until you can close it or they'll claw back the bonus, but it's worth it.

That's interesting, I hadn't thought about it from the perspective of proving that your a resident. It's also interesting that, so far, it seems the consensus is that all states have 2 options.

Not sure if all states offer 2 but I know we were one of the last to figure out how to handle it. There's a real push here about getting it sone with ridiculous commercials using animated farm animals going on vacation needing their real id by 2020. Cause that gets adults attention? Bus ads and stuff too.

I got my real id this year since I had to renew anyway and don't want to carry my passport domestically.

18 years ago, when my DD2 went away to college (3.5 hrs away ) she would call every night. We talked almost an hour every day. We only missed a couple days when DD1 and I went on our first Disney trip. She currently lives right across the road with her husband and DGD.

I had my older daughter 2 doors down for a few years until she went to teach in Europe. When she returned she wanted a bigger house and the tenants she had were stable (still there) so she moved further away. I probably see her just as often now as I did then, even though it's 45 minutes away.

Last minute trip advice....myself and DD3

AofA LM room (assumed) thru a PLE deal for $76/night...total $343.40. Never stayed here.

OR

Any other value around $120/night AP rate, Moderate $160-190 AP rate, AKL $256, YC $296/night.

My head always says save money (points) and my heart always says walk to the parks. I am so awful at making these decisions.

OMG - DH is out of pop up hell AND we got him the Hilton biz!!!!!!!!!

All this Amex talk had my try again after I all but gave up. I upgraded his biz green to a biz plat and laid off apps for a little bit. I tried maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago when there was talk of no pop up with second app. Got pop up on BOTH apps. But the first statement was due recently, over 3k paid in full (natch) with another 2k or so sitting on it right now. I have not really used his other cards much as I’d given up (BBP and SPG biz). The only bummer is I referred from my BBP instead of plat so that’s 15k MR VS 20 but I’ll take it!!

I thought we were one of the last ones, it just became available to get in July or August and like you, I thought if I have to get a new DL might as well get the Real ID. I'll just be traveling with my passport, not the end of the world.
