Trying to convince my parents to let my 16 year old sister to fly alone and meet SO and I at MCO. (16 is fine to fly alone, right?) I want to go to food and wine to get the AP magnets for a weekend lol This is my sister that I took to Disney last year and she complained about her feet hurting. Why do I torture myself? JK we had fun and she wants to go back so it couldn’t have been that bad. (She really probably just likes to get away from my parents lol)

Hawaii 2020 plans are under way and coming along. I wound up scrapping the Alaska companion ticket plan as it wound up costing more money, time and stress than I was willing to undertake for 6 people in order to make it work. On to Plan B.

PlanePrincess and I are well accustomed to long flights but the rest of my family, not so much. Therefore, I am breaking up the flights from the east coast to Hawaii with a stopover at LAX for one night on the way to HNL and then a few days at DLR on the way back. It also allows for easily finding flights with lie flat seats without convoluted positioning.

I found award flights in lie flat seats over and back on each segment between AA 62,500 miles pp and UA (Polaris) at 66,000 miles pp which makes PlanePrincess and my mom very happy. I also secured two rooms at the Embassy Suites near LAX with HH points for the overnight stay. Now, I'm just waiting on return flights from LAX - MIA to be released.

SO was kinda upset I used that many points for club level. He was like Coronado springs is nice and that was 55,000 points and did we really need club level. Well, you know what he should answer his phone at work when I call to confirm the plans before I book. Plus, he acts like he is the one earning the miles? I earn them so I pick what we do lol
Dh would’ve said something similar to that. I usually wait until he answers my emails or gets home and sometimes we’ve missed out because of that.

I really just wanted a splurge lol I could have probably waited but I think I knew he would have told me I’m nuts and we would have been at Coronado. lol Last August I booked the Disneyland Hotel with UR points and didn’t book club level to save the points for another trip. (SO said club level is a waste) September/October rolls around and I can no longer use URs for Disney. I gotta splurge when I can lol

I wish we could use our URs for Disney. Although, I’d probably waste all of them on weekend trips lol. We could stay at Movies for like $400 but it’s for my birthday and I’m thinking we’ll splurge a bit. I’m kind of in between BW or AoA in a cars suite since the skyliner will be open.

Is this true on both Sunrise bank and Metabank? I was surprised that the 2 I bought at the first staples were Sunrise and the other 2 from the second staples were Metabank.

Ooohhh idk I haven’t seen sunrise here. I would just look in the packaging

Mine is a Sunrise one and it says "no value until purchased and activated at checkstand" so I would assume it's activated once you buy it. It also says the PIN is the last 4 digits of the card number

The best was you could book an AP room rate through Disney and transfer it and pay with URs and could even add the dining plan, tickets etc all while getting 1.5 cents per point lol I would totally splurge for your birthday! When we went for my birthday we splurged with French Quater lol for SO we spent his birthday at the Yatch club lol

If my DD could fly to Tokyo alone at 14 y.o. your sister can fly to Disney at 16.

Still no insurance offer on any of our amex cards. I have a 6 month premium due next week. :badpc:

Well you could get lucky like me. I got the offer, but when I went to call and change the billing on our insurance from my ex to me, they noticed that they were supposed to adjust our policy to 2 stand alone accounts. No more multi-car discounts. When our divorce went final they didn't split our policy. It IS kinda stupid as we DO swap cars still and live .5 miles apart. So it's not like one of us is in a shady area. We are in the same neighborhood. Grrrrr. So saving that 20% is going to likely cost me a lot more.

I live on the West Coast and I've done that three times flying back from Europe. We flew business to New York and then spent the night. It's is easier on the kids. I have a PlanePrince that hates flying. I'm so glad we're doing a transatlantic cruise this time. The flight going to Europe never seems that bad. At least as far as jet lag goes. Coming home is a different story.

That seems like a big difference, but I love both of those resorts lol. Yacht Club has the slight edge since you can walk to Epcot and it has SAB, but I absolutely love POFQ. We never try to stay at the same resort twice, though. YC was an option for our trip in Nov, but I want to try something new so that's why I was thinking BW. It is pretty expensive, though. These are our choices:
  • ASMovies-$414
  • OKW-$1022
  • AoA (Cars Suite)-$1160
  • BW-$1558

I think I've decided that we'll do my birthday trip a little late and go the weekend of November 14 instead. We've never done MVMCP so I'd love to throw that in there. There are a lot more hotel options for that weekend. I think we'll wait to book one until Dh's CSR travel credit resets and then book. I already have Oga's set up for two different days that weekend just in case.
Hey I know that weekend! I’m gonna be there too! (FYI Sat is Dapper Day at DHS if you weren’t aware. Sun is at EP. I have no idea how that does/doesn’t affect crowds. We kinda set our Sat at DHS in stone before we realized it was Dapper Days so lol, guess we’ll find out!) If you’re interested in a quick meetup lemme know! (Totally ok if you’re not :D )

Which Kalahari are you going to? We’ve done GWL many times and I am thinking Kalahari might be a nice change.

We're doing the Sandusky one. I told the kids, no Cedar Point. We did it twice in June so they should be good for the summer, LOL. Got in on one of the "end of summer" deals. Gotta love that Ohio goes back before Michigan. Well atleast back before my district does.
