Well, now I know that this weather of mine has truly caused Hades to freeze over!!! I just got a call from AA. Thanks to whoever posted the link to the executive contacts page awhile back. I finally emailed the relations exec, and today I got a call back from his department. I should have all my miles back tomorrow!!
Finally! I think I would also request (demand) a new account number and log in that is totally different from the corrupted one so this can't happen again.

Well since I am 12 pages behind at 3pm :chat::rotfl2:

:offtopic: DD GOT HER DCP ASSIGNMENT!!!!! She is working at Tomorrowland terrace...which I think means lots of dessert parties. Can you imagine looking up at the fireworks from your job!? What? Dream come true!:yay:pixiedust:
Still playing catch up but wanted to say congrats to your DD

:offtopic: But I’m not sure what other thread to post this on. We did emh last night at Epcot and did frozen last. We decided to go around the countries to get back to yc and it was completely deserted. A couple people here and there but I saw something I’ve wanted to see since I started coming to Disney......a Disney CAT!!!!!! I’ve been looking out for one forever and we finally saw one last night in Morocco. Some people might think it’s dumb but we love cats and I’ve wanted to see one since I heard they come into the parks at night

Welcome to the thread! It looks like you've gotten a few responses with regards to AA miles. With the recent talk about Gyft, I went to go look and was surprised to see that you can buy Royal Caribbean gift cards thorough there (which made me remember someone on this thread asked about RCCL), so that could be an option for you to consider.

If either you or your husband are under 5/24 (see glossary on Pg 1), then the advantageous cards for this avenue are the CIP (earning 3xUR) or the CIC (earning 5xUR if paid through Paypal) as mentioned in the past couple pages. With the CIP, you'd get 85,000URs (worth $850 in cash or $1062 through the UR portal) from the sign up bonus and MSR. With the CIC, you'd get 53,000URs (worth $530 in cash). You could use the RCCL gift cards through Gyft toward meeting your MSR too, building your UR balance even faster.

Since the Royal Caribbean card only offers 10K pts right now (and is only good for $100 on RCCL), for me that would be a hard pass. Even if you got the 60K offer, that's $600 that you can only spend on RCCL. If you got the CIP, you may even find you can pay for the cruise booked through the CIP UR portal and get an extra 25% value out of each UR. With the CIC, you can still book through the UR portal but don't get the 25% bonus.

Thanks for the info, I had not looked at gyft until I started reading about it on the last few pages.
I applied for the Barclay, and am waiting to hear back from that one. I will probably look into the CIP for my husband next.

Ahhhhhh!! I've only seen them at Disneyland

The Amex offers really seem great. I almost feel like the discounts I see that I cannot utilize could offset the AF on their own! I didn’t do the BBP… but now IDK if I should still make that the my first Amex or start with a big card and spread the MSR to have Amex not hate me? It seems like Amex will decide whatever it wants to about me.

Lol I understand the FOMO on Amex cards! That's where I was about a year ago with the MR earning cards. The Amazon promos for 20% off or $30 off $60 using 1MR toward payment were taunting (and tempting) me.

I'm for the highest MR signup offer you can find for your first MR card with a fee you can stomach, (lore has it that the 100K Plat unicorn shows up more for MR innocents) before going for the BBP because once you have the BBP you can put daily spend on it easily (thus helping to keep Amex happy with you) and with $0 AF it's one you can hold forever.

I've found the Amex offers and Amazon promos can offset the AFs - on DH's BGR he saved almost $500 on a card with an annual fee of $175 (though the year he had it, the fee was waived), and that's not taking into account the 185K MRs he generated from that card (95% of those were from the signup+cross-referrals+spending incentives). I ended up canceling it (still second guessing myself on that) because he has a hefty $450 AF coming up on his Biz Plat that I might keep. I guess it will depend on if I can get a Schwab for him or if I get a pop up since I canceled the BGR.

This is probably old news, but I found a $75 back on a $350 spend at Loews Hotels on my AMEX, which might be useful if someone wants to stay at Universal. Just thought I'd share.
Unfortunately, if you read the terms, the on-site Universal resorts are excluded from the offer :( I thought about trying it since we’ll be there Th-Sat but might just put the spend on my Arrival + to help meet the MSR.

[GALLERY=][/GALLERY] The view from our room at the Renaissance at SeaWorld. Not too much bad for a free night Cat 4 cert with upgrade thanks to being Platinum! We ended up taking an earlier flight since they closed DS’s school today. It’s a bit chilly but definitely better than the weather back in MD.

Thank you for the super detailed reply! Yes, I meant the SPG biz, sorry that was very unclear!

I don't have the SPG Personal or the Lux, but not planning to get them since I want to stay under 5/24. Same reasoning for not getting P2 the SPG Personal.

My thinking behind choosing the AmEx route, even though I don't plan to get all 3 SPG cards, is because so far they've only done soft pulls for us. I've already taken a lot of hits on Eq and Ex with Chase. DH wants to take out a HELOC to do some remodeling on our rental property. From what I read, I think what I've done so far churning wise is okay, they just might ask us to write a letter of explanation. I just don't want to add to it further. Also, I had to go to recon for my CIC recently, so another reason to take a break from Chase. AND - I feel like I already got started with AmEx, if I stop and slow spending, maybe I'll get the pop-up when I pick back up.

According to FM (is that the correct abbreviation?? lol), the SPG biz AF will be waived, so the plan is to apply after the elevated bonus and before the waived AF offer ends (2/12-3/28). I hope they're correct, since my plan is based on it.

Quote:
"If you want more cards, but can’t qualify for a signup bonus, then the best option is the Bonvoy Business (SPG Business) Card since it does not add to your 5/24 count. Even though the annual fee on this card is going up to $125, if you apply before 3/28/19 your first annual fee will be waived and the next one will be only $95 (then $125 after that)."

Yes, FM has the correct info, at least from what I understand of my email from AmEx regarding the changes - except FM is easier to understand :)

*The fee increase will take effect on your next renewal date on or after 3/28/2019. If your Card application was received before 3/28/2019, the fee increase will take effect on your renewal date on or before 3/28/2021.

So for applicants between now and 3/27/19 they get 2019 $0, 2020 $95, 2021 $125. I believe this is because the card agreement stipulates the AF $0 first year and then $95 thereafter so they are giving up to 2 years to get everyone on the new AF. Since I got mine last year I'm expecting my increase in 2020. For anyone already paying the $95 they get increased on their renewal after it goes into effect on 3/28.

I may have to start pulling up incognito webpages with Amex! I've previously pulled the 50,000 Gold and 75,000 Platinum offers. I have plenty of time :bored:

I was so happy! I actually would’ve missed it but Dh luckily saw it and pointed it out. It was walking across the street in Morocco and went into the spice road table restaurant area
We were sitting on the Tomorrowland bridge waiting for wishes and heard this rumble in the bushes. A legit rat the size of a small cat darted and ran right over DS’s hand. He was so disgusted made a run to scrub his hands. I’m petrified of rodents but we had to laugh and said it was Mickey.

I'm thinking of applying for the CSR in a couple weeks - my kitty needs to go to the dentist so I need a new MSR! Here's my stats, please yell if anything throws up a red flag:

CIP - Approved 7/10/18
SW Biz - Approved 10/20/18
SW Priority - Approved 11/14/18

I also have two Amex business cards sprinkled in there from October.

Questions:

1) My current CL is 22k, or about 27% of my stated income. Should I reduce my credit limits to increase my chances of auto-approval?
2) Can I open a PNC account under my DH's name and fund it with a credit card under my name?

Thanks for any advice you may have!
