it works for some so imho it’s worth shot but Barclays recon can be brutal. I failed to recon a personal card and a business card with them, the part where the person listed off every single credit card I had opened with their tone of voice oozing sarcasm was particularly painful. Have your thick skin on before you call.

Those Barclays reps are straight up rude.

Omg I hear you. Some days you just need a day off- even on your once in a lifetime vacations where you can’t imagine taking time for that! I think the reality is that it’s especially on those vacations we need “time off” because we push to see so much all while our bodies are screaming at us the clock we’re using is a liar...)

I just called and then handed him the phone. Too late! They said they couldn't change it, he'd need to send in documentation for the business. Bummer! At least DH said, "I'll just try again in 30 days" Just would have been nice to finish off the MSR so quickly.

This is why I hovered over hubby's shoulder when he did his first biz app and wouldn't let him hit submit until I double checked it all. I know he's a grown man and can actually act like it some times, and we discussed how to fill out the app a few times, but we were on time crunch and I couldn't wait to reapply if it got goofed. When he got approved the next morning and gave me the 'see, was it really necessary to breath down my neck?' smugness I felt a little bad. It didn't last long, he did his own AmEx biz app all by himself with success and I thought we were set when going for biz app #2 with AmEx but while we were discussing it I ask him something about, "well what did you use the last time" and he's like "I don't know, what should I use?" (worked out, although I think he's finally learning the importance of screenshots in everyday life... it's not just a way to CYA on the job, works at home too )

I just called Barclay recon#, and they said my application is still pending (even though website says denied) and waiting for the documentation to verify my identity. They asked to send in copy of driver's license, bank statement or utility bill etc via MAIL.
I am NOT comfortable sending my personal information via US mail (identity theft ?!?!), so I requested them to cancel my application.

I saw the upgraded Delta biz offer, so that's where I am going....

Jury summons in the mail today for july. First time called in WA and only 2nd time since 2004 in CA so I guess I can't complain too much. Plus it's just down the hill a few miles, closer than the last few places I've worked.

With chase offers do they ever give you good one's again after you've used them? I used all I had to get dis gc but now I'm stuck waiting for places I can do it again. I get starbucks a lot which is good but I need a 10% at lowes or rite aid or staples etc again. I'm down to 179 credit left on my csp from my refund and I still have 2 months but I'm impatient.

No... I've been trying to lay off the Cheesecake Factory too, so I've been using Grubhub pickup. Fortunately, we have a lot of options here in SF.

Thanks. I've been alternating between grubhub and CF gift cards, and saving up the gc for some unknown time in the future when the kids are here (or we all are somewhere). One of my sons is a cheesecake fan (well really any kind of fancy desert fan) so I think I'm leaning towards the gift card for this month. The grubhub choices here are pretty lame.

Ugh! We had to have a lot of tree work done and the bill was over $4,000. We're just about done with my CIP#2 MSR, so I tried to convinced DH to apply for a CIP #2 (he's a reluctant player). But he agreed! I sent him the link and he went off and applied. He just told me he got the "being reviewed" message. I thought no big deal, then he told me he "just made up a company name". We have a vacation rental house as our business and he put "Lastname Rentals". Anything I can do at this point? Can I call Chase and have them change the application to just his name as the business name? OR can we cancel the application? and try again? It was just an hour ago that he applied.

Yup. My DH did the same exact thing. I let that application lapse and will reapply for him in 3 months.

Everytime I do this process I think 'alright, I need to cool it for a while. This is annoying!' and then 2 months later I decided to go on a mini-app-o-rama.

I also thought of a brilliant idea that wasn't one after all. I thought since you can book vacations through AA using miles why not use Avios since that dandy 30% bonus is hanging around. Yeah, no. Even though the site setup looks like the AA version the Avios charged are much more than the AA miles. Plus you can't even get to the final payment breakdown screen if you don't have the Avios in your account. Well, it was a good idea in theory anyhow. This also confirms my thought that if a great miles/points deal exists it has already been found, blogged, and exploited . Probably not many hidden gems for lowly ol' me to think up.

So I have a few cards and at the looking to play back in. Which card from the ones i currently have should i be using to maximize and which should I/we apply for. We mostly want points for hotel stays or cash back. Do store cards count against the 4/24 rule or is it 5/24? I caved and opened and Ulta CC that i have only used once and will only use once. They had 20% off and i was making a big purchase lol.

I waited...24 hours after DH called and confirmed that his application (that he did wrong, of course) was closed/lapsed and applied for him. Only one DP but I don't think you have to wait 3 months, ours was more like 31 days.

The wheels on our current spinners are starting to misbehave. We got the set at Costco before traveling to China w dd just about 5 years ago so they have lots of miles and flights on them! I'd like to get new bags for dh and I before we go to Rome in November and, fingers crossed, India in December.

India in December - YES! THIS! My favorite place. Where are you thinking of going? Haven't been there in years, but its awesome (and crazy, and can be upsetting, but beautiful and awesome).

I really love that! I was judged on my Safari by a snotty fellow traveler for taking pictures with my iPhone (isn’t the quality really bad?) but dude- I can bust out these photos whenever I randomly want to show someone or just for myself whenever I want. Let me see you do that with your DSLR 5000 Mega Awesome Camera.

Ha- my DH is a pro photographer and he always says the best camera is the one you have with you. He has fancy cameras for work, and sometimes you really need that (for high-res, large format stuff, or shooting in difficult conditions) but you should see all the beautiful photos he has shot with his phone - and its an older iphone. Every time someone hears that he is a photographer, they want to talk gear - he's like, well, if you don't know how to use a camera, all the fancyness in the world isn't going to get you better pictures than your phone would.

Was checking my Marriott account and I didn’t get credited my 250 points per day where we skipped housekeeping in Colorado Springs. That was 1000 points. Used the missing stay form and put that in the comments. Will see if that works or if I actually have to call them.

Question on free night from the biz card. I think I saw 6-8 weeks DPs on receiving. Does that sound right? I might use on next trip to Seattle in July so hoping it Shows up in next two weeks (which will be 8 ). Does it just show on you activity page or do you get an email? What should I look for?

It is soooooo hard to wait and I only need to wait until Monday!! That will be 3 months for DH since his CIU and he can apply for CIP #2. Sometimes it amazes me how fast I am going through MSRs. Not spending extra money but all those bills I never put on CCs (property tax, insurance, tution). They really add up.

In March I bought the away bigger carryon. It’s awesome. I fit I solid weeks worth of clothes in there, plus several pairs of shoes and my daughters nebulizer in there. It rolls so easily, the battery was great when our flight was delayed 2 hours and I had to entertain a 1 and 7 year old with the iPad.

I got it in blush, and i checked on the way home. It got a few marks, but they came off with a baby wipe.

I also bought a lo and sons Catalina tote. That’s some nice stuff
