I think paying out depends on the state. My old job was headquartered just outside seattle but I worked at the CO location and CO requires them to pay out. I was told they had to update the manual because it said you didnt get paid out originally, after some people pointed it out to the owner/HR lady (who were in WA)

Could be but I also know they underpaid us and left us understaffed so who knows. They also wouldn't count the year and a half I'd been there as a temp because that was policy too, which I get but don't agree with. It's not how you should treat your employees.

Is your DH supposed to use up the 2019 time by September 30? If so, that September trip would be okay? If you have flexibility, maybe you want to postpone the October trip. Because it's a new supervisor. Perception is important. :)

I don't agree with this. It's not his fault the supervisor is new and the supervisor shouldn't come in expecting the employees to have no vacation scheduled. I wouldn't reschedule because of it. The new sup could have vacation already scheduled for that matter. Just like when I take a job I say I have x planned and paid for. Unless you are going to pay me to change or cancel my trip then I'm taking it regardless of whether it's paid vacation or not. If they have a problem with it then I don't want to work there because it shows they won't be flexible, understanding and the employee will always come last.

I completely forgot that I lowered my CIP CL to $1k on Friday. I wasn't using the card and was planning on opening up a new one (not sure which yet). I was able to cancel my Plastiq payment that I had scheduled, thankfully.

Can I raise it back up? Red flag if I want to apply for another Chase card? I am at 4/24.

If you have any other Chase business cards, you can move some CL from them over to the CIP. You can’t move CL from a personal to a biz. I’m pretty sure if you request a CL increase, Chase will do a hard pull. Probably not what you want before applying for another card.

I always like to establish a level of mediocrity from the start with a new supervisor...:lmao:

Kidding...(or am I.....)

If we weren't in way different field I would swear we worked at the same place! Lol. I also had to wait 13 months to contribute to a 401k because I had to be there over 6 months, my temp time didnt count, AND they only enrolled in January and July. So I finally got enrolled in July then left at the end of August...

Ok so we’re saying two separate things here. :)

To clarify:
1) Useaamiles.com offers better rates logged in than not logged in (and better rates for elites and cardholders)
2) AAvacations.com I believe has the same rates For everybody (I think)

And YES aavacations has the better rates for Disney Resorts (even with the throwaway rental car). Useaamiles still has usefulness for non Disney hotels or rental cards, etc.

Okay -- the aavacations site is not showing me any options with points. I am logged in and I have some points. I don't see any way to change the search function from dollars to points. What am I doing wrong? (Except thinking about applying for another card -- I think the universe is trying to tell me something :( )

Just click on the hotel you want. When you get to the payment screen it will show points. It’s not very intuitive unfortunately.

Also: Applying for another card is always the right answer!!

I think there is a generational divide. Younger workers are more likely to take vacations (& to take longer vacations) than older workers are.
I think this is how it is in the US as well, hence my asking about people's ages.

We really need to find a balance between work and personal life ! I am glad Japan is working on this, hopefully the US will catch up to this thinking soon.

I did think that maybe I had to try to book before I saw the points option but I am a little afraid of accidentally actually booking a non-refundable trip . . .

I know my older relatives have not used most of their vacation time each year. My FIL never has taken more than a week each year for like forever! However, as my MIL has always been somewhat 'fragile', he's worked from home a lot so I think he compensated. And then there is my dh, again almost mid-40's, takes every single day he gets. He occasionally carries over a week but then he just takes it the next year. He waits til year end though which is end of June for him. So, all of May and June, he's off like half those months. I'm trying to finish up homeschool and here he is being off work and distracting to everyone else

In looking at the aavacations site, I am now seeing several Disney resorts with a 'resort credit included' under the promos. Not sure what that is. The prices are the same or higher.
The current room only offer includes a Disney Gift Card at checkin for stays May 28 - June 30. (Per night = $10 values, $15 mod, $20 dlx, $25 villa). I bet that’s what they are referencing there.

FYI: @wendow - when you were considering rooms at the Swan and dolphin with AA miles, you were using useaamiles.com, right? If not, I wanted to point out that they are cheaper on there than aavacations!

My dh will always use or carry over what he has been GIVEN. Now that he chooses his time I'm sure he will slack off on the amount of time he takes. He is in outside sales and his office is at home so he is able to work that angle a bit as well. But he certainly puts in more than 40 hours/week!

I haven't given my well wishes yet, but know your MIL and family are in my prayers. I have had a few steroid back injections so I know the relief it can provide, but you usually gloss over the negatives it can cause. Not anymore!

But my dates are August - as you well know ;-)
Yeah - it seems their coding isn’t sophisticated enough to filter out some of these discounts by date. I’ve noticed strange comments carrying over that don’t apply.
