If anyone is doing the $300 PNC bank bonus, I just got an offer for a $15 bonus if I used their bill pay twice. So, I paid $1 each to a Chase card & an Amex card, and we will see if/when it posts.

I got that on my acct. I bill paid P2 $1, once cashed the credit posted. Now P2 has the offer and I bill paid myself $1 twice. I just got the first check yesterday, the second should come next week.

Is my thought process correct? Paid about 2/3 of my aug trip on my csr to use travel credit and get 3x points for amt over before I pcd to csp. New ap rate out would save me 27 bucks. Csp is due on the 4th.

Could I make new rez, deposit with csp and then cancel group rez, part of the dreams/dis group not through a ta so I can call to do it. Refund will cancel out the dep and I can pay the remaining credit amount on the new rez and that'll put my card back to normal.

Pretty sure the statement closing will make a difference right? Unless the refund from dis doesn't hit before june 4 when the next statement would be due.

I know they could claw back the points but in the end I wouldn't lose them all since I'd be rebooking travel.

Did I cover it all?

I don’t mind calling, so I did, but I couldn’t get to a person regarding application status. It told me to go online and click on the application status link, but when I complete that information it says they can’t find it. I’m sure that’s wrong. Maybe I will HUCA and try to get a person instead of selecting the application status option.

Quoting myself - I did end up calling back and got a person. He was able to review my application right then manually. He asked me all sorts of questions. In the end, I was approved! I should have my card in 7-10 business days. Happy girl!! :cool1:

party:Congrats on pushing through and getting some human interaction going! The things we do for points :P

My Rockettes saga has ended well. I chatted yesterday and the person told me they couldn't change anything. So I called today and they were able to change them for a $10/ticket fee. Persistence pays off:) My other options were to sell and rebuy or take a really early flight to NYC but my preference is to take Amtrak.

We are in similar spots! Just got Hilton biz after CIP2 x2. Will get another Citi AA biz and in July back to more Chaae biz cards I think!

I have to have these AA miles by late July to book my trip for Japan next year, so CIP 2 might just have to wait for me. If I miss out on the CIP 2 deal, I'll just get myself a CIC later this year since I haven't had one of those yet. Not as many URs, but would still be fine. Maybe I could focus on the MSR for the Citi card first and then hit the CIP MSR hard later in the summer. I know that expenses are going to be low next month, but will pick up in June and July.

Totally :offtopic: except that I found a way to pay tuition via CCs but I am so glad we are moving DS to private school in the fall. It is absolutely the right decision. Apparently, the kids are now making fun of him for being younger as he just turned 12 while the other 7th graders are 13 or will be shortly. This is due to him being a bumped up a year from kindergarten to 1st grade. I thought he was upset because I wouldn't get him a pug but he finally broke down on FaceTime after 30 times calling me to tell me he wasn't going to school today and told me the real issue. He even asked to repeat 7th grade so he wouldn't stand out again at his new school. My heart is breaking for him. Middle school kids are so cruel. Just 37 more days to get through...
So sorry for him :( Those kids are awful. I'm glad he is getting out of that situation.

That is horrible!!!!!!!!!! Kids are so nasty.
I remember my dd came home devastated, because the mean girl (who was also the daughter of one of our girl scout troop leaders) made fun of her for wearing an Eeyore shirt from Disney. This was in 2nd grade!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG my arch-nemesis in elementary school was also the daughter of our GS troop leader & she used to tease me about Disney, call me a baby, "she still believes in Mickey Mouse & Santa" etc :lmao: We actually got to be pretty good friends in high school, though. Eventually she told me the reason she was mean to me when we were little was because she wanted to go to Disney World so much but her parents would never take her. They had taken her older siblings before she was born & hated it, so they never went again.

Speaking of Amtrak, just received an email about Share Fare deals on NE Regional. When you buy 2-4 tickets, tickets 2-4 have varying discounts off full price. You use discount code V291 and a 3 day advance purchase is required. I suspect it doesn't work on Saver fares but my everything is being slow today so I haven't checked on how good a deal it is. If you get stuck with regular fares anyway then any discount is good.

I think I figured out a better way. I'll make the deposit with a gc and then use the credit and chase deals or sb to buy dis gc to save more. Plus using a non group rate I can get the gc for opting out of housekeeping so that's another 40 bucks. Worth the hassle now.

Sorry your DS had to go through that. Kids can be so mean, especially at that age!

Those of us fortunate enough to have a spouse/SO (aka Player2 or P2) play this same game build up the points and miles the fastest. You and your DH should get cards separate from each other and not put each other on as AUs, thus ramping up your accumulation of points. Say one of you gets the CIP, then refers the other to the CIP, you could have 190K URs between the two of you in short order. 85K for P1 from the sign up and MSR, same for P2, but additional 20K for the referral goes to P1. Then move on to CIC... and CIU... (or repeat CIP if that's still working).

Thanks - this is exactly our plan. Question that I can't find the answer to: After hitting the MSR on both CIPs (or any other card with an AF) do you typically cancel the cards, or keep them open so credit rating doesn't drop? Paying the AF every year, esp. when moving on to other cards with biggger rewards, seems like it will get expensive over time (I already have a bunch of card where we pay the AF every year, never use the card, because I'm afraid of my credit score dropping)

Chase bank bonus question.

I thought I would see my $300 for maintaining the $15,000 savings deposit on 4/16. Nothing came through so I figured I would wait until 4/23. Still nothing. I looked back at the old SM I had sent for the extra $100 match (which they claimed was now attached to my account) and I see it says I would earn it by "maintaining the new money deposit for 90 days by April 23"

Does that mean that I should expect to actually see it 4/30? I was tempted to send another SM inquiring about the status of the money, but I can wait another week.

Is DH on pain medication? Maybe thats it :rotfl:

Drugs or not he never cares! Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately) my player 2 is ambivalent at best about finances in general and credit cards in particular. It suits us though since I have always made up my mind and do what I want and he just says he trusts me and goes along with it. I know some of us on here have P2’s that are equal partners about it but that’s not the case for us. I haven’t quite got to the point of pretending to be the other person like @SouthFayetteFan or @speedyfishy but it is pretty close!

Idiots. 7th grade really is the worst!!! It doesn't matter what the "thing" is, kids will find any stupid difference and make a big deal about it. We had our daughter in private school in middle school - didn't stop the stupidness, but the teachers were on top of things pretty quick when they got out of hand (not that that helps with teasing/exclusion/gossip and all the other middle school nonsense that seems unavoidable.) My daughter really wanted to go back to public school for high school, which was fine with us. She thinks the kids at the private school were awful, but I'm still sure the overall experience was less awful than the gigantic public middle school would have been for her. I'd guess that most of the kids she is now friends with were idiots 2 years ago, she just wasn't there to see it!

Yeah - I don't think it matters where you go. Middle school simply sucks everywhere!

What questions did they ask? I also applied for the barclay as biz yesterday and went pending and the online status checker says no applications on file.

I was gonna wait it out.but if the questions about my business selling used baby gear aren’t too bad, maybe I’ll call.

So sorry for your child that this is not going well for him.

My oldest daughter graduated high school at age 17...did not turn 18 until end of Dec, so she was always the youngest in her classes.

Many cards have a stipulation that you need to keep the account open for X months, usually 12, or they can take back the bonus. AmEx is a stickler for it, I think Chase has it in there too but not sure if they've really enforced it. In any case, it's generally advisable to keep it open for at least the first year to stay in the card issuers good graces. Otherwise you seem like a gamer and what's the card issuers incentive to keep giving you new cards if you take the money and run all the time? You'd only keep the card after that first year if you see ongoing value in it. If the card has no AF then it doesn't hurt to just leave it open and just reduce the CL on it. If it does, then you'd evaluate if you'd use the card enough to justify the AF or if it has a benefit that gets you a better return than the fee. Like we keep our hotel cards open that give us an annual free night certificate. It's like getting a discounted hotel night every year that we would be spending money on anyway. If you never stay in a hotel, or don't do at least 1 night annually, then probably not a good use of those funds and you'd cancel it after the first year.

What's special about the cards with AF's that you keep them around? Can you PC them to a no AF version to keep the history? Cards stay on your CR for up to 10 years after they've been closed and still influence your score, so you wouldn't get a hit right now by cancelling them.

That's possible. Chase has typically done the 90 days since account open date, rather than funds deposit date, and it'd be the Tuesday following that. But maybe it was set for the 23rd in your case which would have missed the deadline for this week's posting and it'll show up on the 30th?

If I was doing my maths right the Biz checking accounts have been following that pattern so we're expecting hubby's on the 30th as well, since 60 days from account open is today. Oh poo, just realized we'd not be a good DP for that theory as he opened the account with the 1k required funds so it really has been sitting there for 60 days as of today. Fingers crossed for you anyway, at least you have the SM to refer back to.
