Thank you everyone for all the support. I must say, I'm pretty dazed right now and I keep thinking that I have to get up in the morning or I should be going somewhere, but I guess I'm not. For 20 years I went to work at the same office with nearly the same people and to know that I will no longer ever go there again, it's almost that same feeling you have after you graduate high school... like... ummmm... now what??

I guess I will find out after the first of the year... till then I'm on vacation! I told my DH that I'm not getting off the couch tomorrow. Tomorrow is "I'm going to feel sorry for myself day" but that's it, just one day.

On January 5, 2009, I'll be out pounding the pavement again looking for a job. Next week, I go file for unemployment. Good times!

Luckily, in my situation, I didn't have time for it to hit me right away...I lost my job 5 days before my trip to WDW, my BF and my friends were great, they wouldn't even let me think about the situation, they just kept telling me ''you're on vacation, worry about it when you get home''.
You are entitled to your feel sorry for yourself day, you deserve it.

File for unemployment as soon as you can, but if you got a severance package, you can't claim any unemployment during that period...Make sense?
I was only at the company 6 months, but they gave me 2 weeks severance anyway...I was laid off 10/23 and just got my first check from unemployment yesterday 12/4.

Funny thing is (not funny ha ha ) I got my daily e-mail from Monster.com letting me know what was available for jobs in my area, in customer service...There was 1 company on todays e-mail....Guess, what company? The one that laid me off....Same position...I guess they just wanted to get rid of the 5 of us

I am so sorry for you, there have been a bunch of layoffs at the hospital where I work, I have been ok but some friends have lost there jobs. I hope that you are able to find something that you enjoy soon!

I am so sorry- these are frightening times we are in-

went through this with DH three years ago, scared the heck out of me, I cried for two weeks. We got through it of course, and he now is very happy with a great job,
