I like FP+

We'll see SOON!:woohoo:

CAN'T WAIT; FIRST time using FP, magic bands!:) ALOT OF PLANNING went into this trip; HOPING FOR THE BEST!:santa:

Count me in as a FP+ Fan!

I love the freedom it allows. I've never understood how someone could say it's more restrictive than legacy FP. How is pulling a paper FP for a random time that may or may not work for your schedule better than scheduling the ride for the exact time you want?

I also agree with Frozen when they said it allows them to tour efficiently. Anything that saves from my feet from needless steps is a "win" in my book. ;)

This! I was just at DL and readjusting to the old system was very difficult. I never managed to pull more than 2 or 3 FPs a d ay, but running all over the park, plus finding that a currently issuing return time overlaps my lunch ADR or another ride was frustrating. FP+ could use a tweak (I really don't think they needed to add it to EVERY ride; some don't need it), but overall it's an improvement.

I wish they'd add it to Sum of All Thrills. Anyone know why they don't?

No running around collecting paper FP and confusing my littlest one by going over to a ride we were not going to get on until later.
I hadn't thought about this before (I was always the "FP runner"), but I can see where a lot of kids would be confused/disappointed by this aspect of old FP.

Take them up to the entrance...and then they don't get to go on the ride.

Happy to hear this! I keep thinking I must be missing something or not understanding, after trying to educate myself on FP+ for our upcoming trip. I knew how to work the old FP system, for sure, so I had to try to wrap my brain around the changes. Trying to plan for our March trip (first with FP+) and it seems like it will actually be better for us. I'm starting to realize that we don't HAVE to be at every single park at rope drop. I like that I can choose the FP time around other things, like ADR's or picking a later time for a certain ride to give me time in the mornings to hit other things with no wait. With the old system, we were very subject to to progressing return times as the day went on, you had no flexibility. I think the concept is great, I can't speak for if the technology needs tweaking...
I think it's also ones mind set. If we go in thinking how other theme parks are, and you have to stand in line for every ride, it's just an added bonus that you can FP at least 3 of them, possibly more.

I like it as well. We've used it twice now and I found it works really well for our family. We had been several times with the old system but found it a pain to use with having to run across the parks to gather FP and return times that ended up not working for us. We missed rides like Soarin and TSM because we didn't get to them early enough to get a FP too.

So far much happier with FP+. And I don't notice crazy lines on other rides either. :confused3 Like in the past any ride can get busy now and then but when that happens we usually skip and return later and the lines have died down.

I like FP+ too, but it was nice to be a "super-user" (i.e. abuser) of old FP and pull like 20 in one day.

Well that's just ridiculous. There aren't enough hours in the day to pull 20 FP

Loved it too. We've done both FP+ and paper FP. We are also big planners. It worked great with Touring Plans.

Only issue we had was 7DMT. I didn't bother getting an FP+, because we were going to get it at RD on an AM EMH day. We didn't make RD; I blame the Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party:( We just rode after Wishes with ~30 minute wait. We may have waited that long at RD anyway. This isn't really an FP+ issue either, unless they start doing FP+ for alcohol, and we keep missing RD:)

My only issues are the tiering and not being able to get FP 3+ using the app/web page.

FP+ is useful for being able to sleep in and still be able to have FP to use when you get to the park. I just wish we could book 5 or 6 at the 60 day mark. I hate having to go line up in the park to see what is left for the 4th FP+.

You forgot:
  • changed their RD experience
  • ruined the touring plans they have used for years
  • made all the other ride lines 7,000 times longer
  • kills puppies for sport
  • bathes in the blood of the innocent
  • invented telemarketing and
  • was on the Grassy Knoll in Dallas in 1963.

I'm sorry but this made me :lmao:

I don't like the tiering either...trouble is the solution is more rides...and while rumor points to HS getting more soon, I haven't heard much for EPCOT other than an third theater for Soarin, and reopening Malestrum as Frozen...of course the new Frozen ride will be a tier 1 ride...they would need to build another couple new rides in order to drop the tiers or else EVERYONE would FP+ Soarin, TT, and Frozen.

The app issue, is probably something we will see changed sooner. Afterall, we are not even a full year into the full roll-out, maybe they wanted to get the system running before adding the pinstriping.

I like both systems- neither or perfect but there are pros and cons to both. I've used fpp for several trips now and not had a bad experience- there really hasn't been much of a change to my touring strategies.

We've been fortunate to go five times this year, and I'll admit it's been a learning experience - thinking about what other attractions you want to do beside the FP+ ones, where they are, how much time to allow between FP+'s so you can enjoy other things and also to travel from one area to another. But overall, we too agree that it's better than sending the FP runner and waiting to hear what the time is so that we can plan the rest of our day!

I like the new fastpass system as well but I never used the old system. One thing I am telling myself to do though is treat every trip to Disney like it's your first time. For example, last year was my very first year at DW and we only went for the Christmas party (4-12am). We waited 45min for POTC, probably 30 for HM, around 20 for SM etc. We only saw the Christmas parade and fireworks, no characters/shows, and I was SO excited and happy just to even be there. I didn't care how many rides we rode or how many characters we met because I was in DISNEY! We didn't plan to hit everything we wanted, so nobody was disappointed.
This time around with Fastpass, we didn't get anything really big when our window opened up, and that was fine with us. We ended up picking the safari, EE and Lion King show in AK and that was going to be our plan until everyone started posting about the mine train and a&e openings. Then it was like "sure why not?" didn't care about the times, just picked what was available. T-14 days till our trip and there's been no stress or worries, just excitement :cheer2:

Totally agree with this. I would think having no idea what FP you would get before could throw off your day, especially with the hard to get ones that could be for much much later after you got them.

Some of these responses cracked me up. Thanks for the laughs :rotfl:

I think the app thing will sort itself out too. Fortunately, we never waited long to get additional FP+.

It would be great all the way around to see enough rides to not need tiering. However, it would require us to spend more days at the park to do everything that we want.

I am almost afraid to admit it on here but I did like FP+. I went to the parks under the legacy system and hated all the endless tromping around and running to grab fastpasses. I like being able to plan my schedule in advance and choose the rides we want to ride in the order we want to ride them in. But I am not a real big thrill ride person so most of the fastpasses for shows, characters, and smaller rides don't tend to be the ones that bring out the crazy anyway.

I really like FP+ too, especially since I used to be the ticket/FP holder and runner with the legacy system. You cannot even imagine how much less stressful it is for me :thumbsup2 We tour the parks so much more efficiently now without the endless criss crossing. Rope Drop is even more amazing than before, if you go the opposite direction of the crowds you can ride so much in those first 2 hours and then have the headliners waiting with your FP+.

It just amazes me how many people refuse to ride a ride without a FP. Are you kidding me :confused3 We did more rides/attractions on our last two trips on the FP+ system than we ever did before with the legacy system with about half the stress. We never wait longer than 20 minutes for anything and we rode tons of stuff standby....even during Thanksgiving week which was a fairly busy week.

I also love that on days we want to do a waterpark, or something offsite, or just relax a little that we still know we have at least 3 FP attractions for that day. It takes a little bit more work on the front end...but our trips are much more relaxing on the back end. Like everyone else I would like to see some enhancements (app, tiering, removing it from rides that don't need it, etc) but for the most part we really like FP+ and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the magic bands!

I think some people forget that they had to have a runner. Maybe they weren't the person that had to run around. Or maybe they were, but they didn't mind that they weren't with their family while they were doing it. I don't know.

What I do know is that I like the fact that my husband can now tour with me.

We never had a "runner" we just all walked together really fast to get whatever fast passes we could. I tried suggesting that to DH but he would not hear of us splitting up. "I didn't come to WDW to walk around without my family!" LOL

Anyway, I also liked FP+ for our October trip. I was leery after reading everything here and then when I reserved my FP+ for the first time and although I found it a bit confusing at first, once I figured it out I was able to get most of what I wanted. We are not morning people, so I love that I can hit the parks later in the day and know I'm all set to hit a few rides. We usually know what parks we will be in which day anyway for ADRs.

That being said, we are not big ride people and we go a lot so it doesn't really matter to me if I don't hit a certain ride or attraction this time, I can always go next time. So I can understand if you want to hit a lot of attractions and you're only able to reserve 3 beforehand how this could be disappointing.
