Hi All,
My husband and I leave for our first cruise in a couple of days (the 4 days Wonder cruise that leaves on Sunday). I have some last minute questions...
1. We each have one bag and my understanding is that we have to give them to the staff to be checked on/screened then they are brought to our room. Can we put a bottle or two of wine in there?
2 Also, are there fridges in the rooms (I had heard they were going to be taken out)?
3. And, are there hair dryers in the rooms? We are staying at the Boardwalk Inn upon our return, do they have hair dryers as well?
4. I have heard debarking on your last day can take a long time.
Could someone let me know what the process is? If my husband and I just want to carry our own bags off would it speed up the whole thing?
5. What are the frozen drink prices onboard? (For a pina colada type drink?)
Thanks so much,
Kara
ps--any last minute tips would be appreciated too!!!

Hi swimmer, and welcome to the Cruise Board! :)

1. You will drop your bag with the port curbside outside the port. You are welcome to pack wine in there but you may want to pack it in your carry-on bag instead just to be sure it doesn't break. Your checked bags will be brought to your stateroom door for you. You can only carry on items that are small enough to fit through an airport style x-ray conveyor belt, otherwise you have to drop your bag with the porter.

2. Yes, there are small refrigerators in the rooms.

3. Yes, there are hair dryers on the ship and at the Boardwalk. The ones on the ship are attached to the wall, though, and not very strong. You may want to bring a small travel hair dryer with you.

4. On the contrary, debarking on the last day is very EASY with DCL! Once the ship clears customs (usually around 7:45 am) you can disembark at your leisure...it's not a "cattle call" in the least.

5. I'm not sure on the drink costs; for the daily drink specials they usually ran around $4-$5.

Have a great time! :)

ok...I will give this a shot......
1. Yes...you can bring your own wine aboard....I am not sure about all of the specifics as I have not done it personally

2. There are coolers/fridges in the rooms. I do not remember
them being large enough to hold a bottle of wine....they will
hold cans of soda...there is an ice bucket that is always stocked
with ice so that should help chill the wine if that is what you are
aiming for...

3. Yes...there are h/d in the room....they actually work quite well....I have stayed at the AKL and they do have h/d in their
rooms...unfortunately I do not know about the Boardwalk...

4. Debarking is super easy.....It has never taken us longer than
20-25 minutes to get off the ship, get luggage, and get thru
customs....and that is with a sold out ship....

5. I have had too many of those frozen drinks!!!! I believe they
are in the neighborhood of $5....give or take...it depends on if
you get the souveneir glass...thats what happens when you just
sign for them....you forget how much they cost!!!

My last tip is have an awesome time....dont try and do everything
because it will drive you crazy!!!Relax and take in the wonderful
DCL cruise experience....oh yeah.....and Palos souflee!!!!

You'll hear different views on the hairdryers. If your hair is short and fine, the onboard hairdryer will suffice. If it is long and thick (my problem), it could take twenty minutes or more to dry your hair. It is not very powerful and has a very narrow nozzle which doesn't cover much area at a time.
