Been on seven cruises. Everything I've read, including this board, something somewhere from DCL, Passporter, etc.,etc.... They all said it is 1/4 of a mile around deck four on the Promenade for all the exercise nuts!
On every cruise, as part of my DCL Guilt Suppression Program(GSP), I try to walk deck four every day. Goal - 4 miles!! Quick old math - 16 laps!!! Usually lose count somewhere along the way! The only thing I do keep track of is my lap time. And everytime, when I check it, I say to myself, in the words of a famous sitcom philospher, "Holy Crap!, I'm slow!" This can't be a quarter mile!!! Must be more...someone stretched the ship!!! It was always depressing! My only hope was when I overheard some jock say to a friend that he was sure a lap was more than 1/4 mile. Only then did I stop from throwing myself overboard!!!....But still, the "official" word....1 lap = 1/4 mile.
Last cruise...on the Magic. Working my DCLGSP...Feeling depressed before I even started....AND THERE IT WAS!!!! I know it wasn't there on other cruises!!! I could have missed it, but I'm sure I would have seen it in my desperation. A Plaque!!! Right on the starboard side forward just before going into the tunnel. Don't remember if it was wood, or brass...too excited to care!!! 'Cause right there in Disney looking official print was the inscription "1 lap=.333 miles". Something about meters too, but who cares!!!! New math... 1 mile = 3laps (not 4) .... 4 miles =12 laps (not 16). I felt 20 years younger!!!!!
So the next day, when I missed my walk, I felt 25% less guilty!!!!
