I was looking at booking our airline tickets. We are going from Oct 29-Nov 8. I am looking at a price of £816 for Virgin PE. This is a great price compared to what it was the last few years when I have booked. But I can't decide if I should do what I normally do which is buy as soon as it goes to a price I am willing to pay or if this is a sign that it might get even better...

All opinions would be really appreciated.

I am from your neck of the woods too, and we are going 13th october to 4th november. I booked my flights with virgin straight away as when we were looking a woman who worked for the travel agency sector said that flights were going quick and probably wouldnt go down much for lgw to mco.

Have you not got any miles to spend as the fare will then be £655 +7.500 miles each.
if the price you saw is the cheapest you have paid in the past, then book it now as when the seats sell the price goes up

If the price you are seeing is one that you are happy with, can afford and is less you have paid in the past then I would go ahead and book.
There is always the chance that the price may come down a little more - but my thoughts are that they are more likely to go up.
Right now the price of crude oil is about as low as it has been for a long time, hence the drop in prices at the pumps and on flight tickets (oil price per barrel has gone from $150 five months ago to only $36 per barrel). It has also been hovering around this price for about the past month so any impact it was going to have on the petrol and aviation industries is likely to have been factored in by now.
OK the credit crunch is also having an effect on sales so they are probably reducing prices as a result, but I would still suggest the biggest factor is the price of a barrel of oil.

If you are happy with the price just get it booked up. I cannot stand hanging about myself would rather get things booked up as soon as I can then just relax knowing we are going.

Sorry I arrived late at the party. I've had PE tickets for much less than that. But, you never know - they only come down if the flight isn't booking up fast.

All I would say is - log in to the Virgin site and make sure you get seats in the bubble (top of the plane). It is a much quiter and nicer experience than downstairs. You feel as though you're flying in a small private plane.

Just a quick for booking your flights !!!

We have flights booked for the 11th October this year and I did the self same think but did'nt book them straight away hopin for the prices to either stay the same of go down

Ended up booking them 2 weeks later £600.00 more than when I had first looked also returning on a Sunday as the Friday/Saturday flight had gone up by £920.00

However on a positive note our flights have now gone up a further £1100.00 so I'm glad I only waited an extra 2 weeks before booking

Richard & I flew Virgin UC to JFK and back for Christmas/ New Year. On the way there we actually were seated apart by 6 seats. We had booked the seats together and the person at check in never bothered to tell us. To make matters worse, the people on either side of Richard were single people flying by themselves who refused to move when asked by the flight attendants. We checked in very early so it wasn't like we were last to check in. The flight attendants were really great and tried to make up for it the best they could. They also told us we should always check in on line 24 hours in advance. We did this on the way back believe me.
