I went to Meijer to pick up a few things last night. All of the Valentine candy was 1/2 off. I picked up some M&M. Not the individual but the larger bags. They scanned $2.99. Regular price was $5.99! The bags of individually wrapped KitKat's scanned $4.99. Regular price $9.99.

I went over to the regular candy aisle and the bonus bags (extra 10% in the bag) of M&M were $2.99 regular price. The Kit Kat bags were $4.79 regular price.

A perfect example thay sale doesn't always equal a good deal.

Meijer pretending to be Kohl's? lol. I have not shopped there in ages as I got frustrated with their registers not charging the sale prices too many times at check out. On the upside, you have a stash of chocolate!:cool1:

They are worse than Walmart with open registers. The last 3 visits on a weekday after work have seen exactly 1 regular checkout open all 3 times, yet 8 self scans are open. Guess they want people to only buy 12 items or less. Also, Meijer's placement of Valentine Candy makes no sense. At our store, it was between shoes and sporting goods, on the exact opposite end of the grocery side. Who is going to look for candy there?

That's where ours was this year. Usually they have a special section in the grocery area.

I will note I prefer their self scan with the large belts for big orders. I absolutely hate for anyone to bag my stuff

For sure!!!! I ran in Meijer the other day to get a Health and Beauty item - which is just inside one of the sets of entrance doors. No checkouts were open at that end at all - I had to walk all the way down to the grocery doors to checkout. Not that it was super far, but if you have people using both sets of entrance doors, you should have registers open at both ends!!!!

I picked up valentines m&ms today at kroger for 1.99. I love our meijer but its out of the way. They always have registers open.

Really? Every Deli employee at every Meijer store is that bad??? You must do a lot of shopping to know that.
Sorry, that just struck me a a rather broad generalization. :rolleyes1
Ok the deli workers at the meijer I shop at are the worst. Is that better? Jeez

My mom always says they. We'd to change the sign from "Why pay more?" To "Why not pay more?" I used to shop their sale items, but for the past few years, their sales are no better than regular price elsewhere.
