I know I should update but I'm afraid to!!

Recently, (before I had to run system restore), a little pop up box appeared on my screen and told me there was an update available for my McAffee firewall. I updated it, then, when I went to get back into my computer, I could connect to the internet but couldn't do anything!! EVERYTHING was blocked behind this! I can only assume that the update didn't install properly!

Well, the little box is once again appearing, prompting me to update the firewall! I don't want to!!!!!!!!!!! I am so afraid that the firewall will again block the entire internet and I will again have to restore the computer. (not go back to an earlier date - back to the beginning!)

Anyone else out there have McAffee firewall plus and HAS installed this update??

Can't help, Colleen, I use Zone Alarm, along with the router. Giving you a bump here. Maybe add 'question on McAffee in title'. Did you Google the problem or check McAffee's support site??

Did I check McAffee's website now or the last time when I crashed? I couldn't check their website then because their customer support is on line and I couldn't reach them!!

We have updated using the computer twice and run into huge problems! I learned after the first time, however I don't think DH believed the problem was with the download and blamed me.....me the one who had to show him how to use an ATM ! To make a long story short, he tried to download recenlty, using Norton's, and once again messed up our entire system! DBIL has never had a problem with downloads of this sort but us, ugh!

When I have probs with my McAfee Firewall stuff what I do (per their tech support) is go into my Add/Remove Programs box and carefully remove my McAfee Firewall program (just that). Then I go to McAfee.com, log in to My Account, and download McAfee Personal Firewall Plus all over again. Seems to work well.
