I just sent my kitten to the Bridge

.....and boy do I feel awful.

I found this sweet little kitten yesterday all alone, hungry and covered in fleas. She didn't look like she felt very well so I took her to the vet this am. All tests for diseases came back negative and she seemed to perk up a little at the clinic. She had a few minor problems and the vet sent her home with some medicines. Once I got her home, she still didn't seem right but I wanted to give the medicines a chance to work.

Later this evening she seemed to just want to sleep - not very responsive. Within about a 2 hour time frame, she started going down fast. I took her to the vet, but there wasn't anything that he could do for her. I had to send her to the Bridge.

I only had her for a short time but she managed to steal my heart with her occasional soft little purrs. I wish I could have saved her.

It's amazing how much these little furballs can bring you such joy while they are with us and sadness when they're gone. I guess it's normal to say that I feel guilty for not taking her back to the vet sooner. I knew something just wasn't right. However, I know I can't dwell on this. It does bring me some comfort that I was able to give her love and a home during these last few hours.

No, unfortunately not. I called her Princess Kitty but I had been thinking about possible Disney names.

Just think what an amazing gift you gave her. There she was, abandoned, hungry, alone, miserable from fleas, and sick. And you came along and loved her and cuddled her and fed her and got her some medical care. She must have thought she was already in heaven.
