I had 3 rooms at AKL reserved for July 2007 just waiting to add the package once the package pricing became available. In order to get the AAA rate on the room and the package, I need a AAA TA.

Well, of course the CM could not guarantee that by the time a AAA TA got through to book my trip, that the AAA room rate would be available. So, in order to save $946, I switched to room only at the AAA rate. But, naturally I still want packages on the 3 rooms! The CM said it would be a lot of work for me to switch the reservation over to a AAA TA, and really tried to dicourage me from making the change.

My question is, exactly what do I need to do now to get a AAA TA involved? Also, I know I don't need to go with a TA from my local office, so can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks! :goodvibes

Well, my big question to you is this: What do you really gain by booking a package vs. room only?

The room discount and the tickets are going to cost you the same amount whether you book them together or seperately. The only thing you gain is the Planet Hollywood voucher.

If you stick with the room only reservations you can pay off your balance due at check in rather than 45 days in advance, You also can cancel without penalty as little as 5 days in advace, versus 45 days in advace, Stick with what you have!

Agree with previous poster... I would leave it as a room only.

Unless, you want to add the dining plan. (which has some changes for 2007 re: restaurant choices are slimmed down) You can only add the dining plan to a package. And through Disney if you book a AAA discount it is for the room only so you are not eligible to book the dining. Ticket prices are the same reguardless.

Cancellation policy can be better on a room only. They take one nights stay as the deposit and the rest is due upon check in. Cancellation policy for a package if cancelled within 7 days of travel is $200.

Congrats on the savings :Pinkbounc

wait a minute here, if you want to get the dining plan, (is that why you want a package?), you can go through a AAA travel agent and still get the room discount with a package. I would try calling a AAA agent monday, and see if they can book 3 rooms ( if they are still available), get a quote. Then if you get the package, just cancel your room only reservation with disney.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, we do want to get the dining plan. I checked the 2007 DDP and the places we want to do TS are all still listed. So, I will have to get a TA. I like your idea, Sarah! :thumbsup2 I spoke with a AAA TA on Thursday and she said she would let me know the price on the package. So, If she gets the same #'s I may as well cancel what I have and stay with AAA. I will worry about the if not should that come up.
