Thanks to all of you here. I was never sure about opening an ING account, even though I've seen them around for a while. But I did just open a joint one tonight, and then sent referrals out to DH and DS and even one to myself to open my own account. I would never have known about the referral bonuses. Thanks again for helping me save extra for our trip.

Before I refer my wife and friends, should I wait until my Bank Account gets verified... Or can I do this right away?

Good Morning :) You can go ahead and add your wife and kids on your account without it being confirmed. You will only need to confirm the account 1 time no matter how many people are on the account... :)

Thanks for letting us know you can cancel the referrels people do not use.

Also good note about giving the person your first and last name with an email to send the referrel to right away. Makes the processes even easier.

Mom I have 25.00 going in bi-weekly into my account and 10.00 going into DS account. Come Jan. I will up both those amounts.

I love ING wish I had put this account to go use before now. But hey better late then never.

I wish I had known about ING earlier. I am so glad we have these boards, they are wonderful!!!

I have been using my ING account to help my ds's save for WDW next year! They have chores around the house that they are suppose to do. If they do them they get a certian $ amount. At the end of the month we tally up how much $ they earned and then I transfer half of their $ to their ING account and give them the rest of the $ for them to spend. So far it is working great!!! I am hoping that by the time we go to WDW that they have their own spending money!!!!!

I have had my ING account for a few months so if anyone has any questions you can feel free to PM me!!!!

Guess what? There is no need to fret about cancelling unused referrals - ING does it for you automatically after about a month or so!

I had a few family members chicken out (just didn't trust the internet) after I sent the referrals, but now their names are gone and I have blank, brand-new ones in their place.

The 25 limit set by ING is a limit on the number of new, opened accounts they will consider as being referred by you, not the number of "chances" you get to refer.

And don't forget, if you are a joint holder with your kids, they each get 25 referrals as well!

Just thought this would set your minds at ease.

Thanks for the information! My DH was skeptical at first, but now he is also a ING customer :) I usually pay my Dolphin resort bill ahead of time... this time I am going to leave the money in our ING account until its time to go to WDW ... I may as well collect interest as long as I can...:)

I opened up accounts for my 3 kids and dh also opened one. My mil is "thinking" about it so I told her to look up the company on yahoo financial and research it. I told her I'm comfortable with it, but she needs to be as well, not just because I told her it's ok. ;) I'm thinking of asking a few of my internet savvy friends but don't want to pressure anyone, obviously.

Hi bujuni! And welcome to the DIS!!! :wave2:

Since you are new, perhaps you don't know that in order to get a referrral e-mail you can simply e-mail or Private Message someone who has a ING account. As you might imagine, most who have posted to this thread have an account.

You can e-mail or PM someone by clicking on the appropriate button below their post.

Again, welcome to the DIS! And good luck with ING! :)

ksoehrlein ~ Thanks for the information, I did not realize the kid "joint" account holders could also send referrals. That is good to know :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend ... I stayed away from going out to eat over the weekend to save some money for our ING account!

If anyone needs a referral, I have some still available. Just PM me. ;)

Sorry lailah ~ We are not allowed to ask people to write us to send them referrals. Most everyone on this thread have an ING accounts and thus have referrals, but we are not allowed to ask for PM's etc. They will close our thread, if we ask for pm's etc.

If anyone needs any information they can gladly PM most anyone on this thread for information... :)

Hi MP, great to see you on another board!

I got my ING account going and I'm finally getting around to setting up accounts for the kids. Thanks to my helper on this thread for getting me going.

It was sooooo easy! I am not the financial wiz in my family and even I could figure it out. It is not scary at all.

Feel free to PM me anyone who needs help.

Whew this thread is long!! I just have a few questions, I tried to read through the whole thread but I might have missed some stuff.

If you have change that you want to deposit, how do you get it to them?

How do you get the money out of the acct. when you want to use it, and how long do you have to leave it in before you can take it out? (Or is there no time table for it).

Also I have money in a pay pal acct. Can I transfer that money to an ING acct? (I'm assuming that process is the same as any other bank acct)

How do you put in your first deposit, does it have to be from another bank account?

Thanks for your help, and thanks for the great thread!

You have to deposit the change first into your checking account, than transfer over to ING. Or if you are in Philly, go ask the people at the ING Cafe in Center City (I think its 16th & walnut)

Paypal would first have to go to checking, then checking to ING. It sounds complicated, but its not.

First deposit, the $1, is from your checking account.

Hi, I just opened my account and I need a clarification. You stated that when you open an account for spouse/kids that you only have to verify your account once. I wanted to refer everyone in the family right away, but I don't want to get all of those verification deposits mixed up. I just want to make sure that I am understanding your post correctly. I hope this makes sense...

I didn't have to verify my DD's account since I was the joint owner and I already had an account, plus she was under age. Make sure to sign your children up as the primary and you as the secondary. Also, their accounts will show up under your account since you are listed as joint owner. Hope this makes sense...

I did however, had to verify DH when I signed him up.
