I just lost........UPDATE I won THE game with Allegiant!

When using Allegiant, do you select your seats? Or do you let them sit you where ever they want to put you? I noticed there are fees to select your seats, and fees for luggage. I also noticed that Flights out of Plattsburgh NY to Sanford seem to only take place on Fridays and Mondays, is that correct? That will add to my hotel cost by two extra nights if I do that. I'm trying to figure out if flying at their low rates with all fees and extra hotel stays, would still amount to less than if I pay more to fly another airline that doesn't have baggage fees, and fly on days that prevent the need for extra hotel nights. Whats it like flying with them? Do they have tv's for entertainment, do they offer snacks ect... I haven't flown much in my life, but when I have, it's always been on lines like Air Canada, United and American Airlines. So in comparison, how is Allegiant?

We flew Allegiant in Nov. 2009 from Hagerstown, Md., to Sanford.

You can choose your seats, but you will pay for that option. Because I flew with my 14-year old, and also my sister and her 2 younger kids, we paid the fees to sit together. When my husband and I fly down this November, we will NOT pick that option, we'd rather save the money.

Flights to and from your city are only on the days on the calendar. That's it! This could be a concern if you miss your flight. Because I'm never ever late, I didn't worry about this.

I booked our trip around the flight dates. Allegiant flies out of Hagerstown on Fridays and Mondays-usually-so we booked our hotel from a Friday to the next Friday.

No tvs, snacks if you were willing to buy them. If getting a "free" snack means paying more for my ticket, I'll bring my own snack.

FINALLY................. I did it. I stuck in there and finally got a killer deal. $29.99 each way and traveling back on Memorial Day weekend on Sunday!!! I was in a huge hurry leaving work and didn't get time to check so when I got home from church I was fixing dinner so I checked on my phone and our departure leg finally dropped to $29.99, I did manage to finish fixing dinne and not burn anything and then rushed to the laptop and booked. I sucked it up and payed the fees even though I didn't want to, but I was to afraid to wait till friday and risk them going up while I was driving to the airport. So we are all booked and ready to go!

Sending lots and lots of Pixie dust everyone's way so you can score great deals too! :wizard:

we played the game and won with Allegiant today, LOL .. fares have been $100+ (each way) for our dates in June until today. One leg is $29.99 and the other is $49.99. I'm not waiting to see if the more expensive leg drops... that fare is good enough for me! :cool1:

What does the total of each leg come to with taxes and fees? And do they fly on the days you wanted?
When I checked dates, we'd have to come in a day earlier than we want to and leave a day later, as they show no availability on the other days. Is that pretty standard with Allegiant? But still with the prices you got it at, once fees and taxes are factored in, and even possibly two extra hotel nights, would we still come out ahead of higher prices with another airline?

the dates were exactly what I needed ..I needed a Thursday (or Saturday) to Thursday trip and that's what Allegiant flies here.

it ends up being $111 RT, per person, with taxes and fees. I did not choose to pre-buy seats, priority board, or check baggage. estimated our driving costs to be approx. $500, and flying is less than $100 more. A no-brainer for us.

Allegiant has a pretty standard flight schedule. Your local airport will have flights anywhere from one to 7 days a week. Ours currently has 2 days a week in summer goes up to 3 days a week. And I don't know if any of them have more than one flight out of any airport (except the hub) a day. Their flights don't book up quickly so if you are not seeing anything available on the days you want then they probably don't fly that day from your airport. You can check thier flight schedule on thier website.

We are going a day earlier than we planned, but are saving a 12 hour drive each way, and paying less than driving would have cost us so adding another nights hotel is no problem for us. Even adding 2 nights it would be worth it for us. We also don't take alot of luggage on vacation, for our family everyone gets a carry on suitcase and backpack and we check one bag ($20/each way) and have plenty of room, so I don't see how flying with an airline that has 'no baggage' fees could be cheaper for us when the tickets are alot more to start with.

Good deal! Can't beat that for round trip, patience does pay off in the long run. Congrats!

now I'm on the watch for October fares. My outbound in September is $29.99, but the return is $79.99 .. so I keep checking Allegiant and AirTran in the hopes one will drop!

I've been watching for a possible September trip for the last 4 weeks. The days we are looking at haven't dropped below $69.99. I'm trying to be patient, but how do you guys do it...I don't think we are willing to drive, and I'm really nervous to wait to pull the trigger until 3 weeks out....what to do, what to do?
