While we were out getting my refund check cashed, my mom told me that my great-aunt Cornelia died last week and mom and dad found out about it this past weekend. My dad lived with her for a year when he was in fourth grade (basically, he had accidentally shot and killed someone with a gun that his stepfather left lying around and his mother and stepfather were ashamed of him so they sent him away) and that was the one year when he really felt like he had a mother. Because of that, she was like a grandmother to me (which my biological grandmother never was.) When I was little and I said my prayers, it was always "God bless mommy and daddy and Great-Aunt Cornelia.) We hadn't had much contact over the past few years, but I'm still really sad about this (I think I was shocked when my mom first told me but now that I'm actually typing it, I'm starting to cry because it seems more real.)
