GRADUATE with my MSW in December 2006!!!   :dumbo: :simba: :figment: :stitch: :goofy: :sulley: :hmghost: :tigger: :ccat: :mickeyjum :donald:

I thought I had another semester (Spring 2007) but when I talked with my advisor today, she said that I miscounted my classes and had one more than I thought!!! pixiedust: That means I have one summer class, two fall classes, 500 hours of practicum and I am FINISHED!!!! I will then be able to go to WDW in May 2007 and wear my graduation cap with Mickey Ears!!!! I won't actually be able to "walk down the aisle" until May 2007, but I will be FINISHED with classes December 2006.

For those of you who don't really know me, this has been a VERY long road. Started my MSW program in 2002 with every intent of graduating 2005. DS needed a kidney transplant in 2003 so I took a year off from school to be with him. Went back to school full time in Fall 2004 and have been working full time, going to school full time, taking care of DS and a household (I'm a divorced mom with no support from DS's father). So I feel very tired, but re-energized that I actually see a light at the end of the tunnel!! :woohoo:
Thank you for letting me share this here--I just needed to tell SOMEBODY my good news!!!!

Congratulations! That's fantastic. You definitely have earned your WDW trip! :goodvibes :cheer2:

congratulations! what type of practicum are you going to do? when i worked in social services we could always count on a new group of msw candidates starting their practicum each semester-with at least a few deciding to hire on once they finished (esp. if they hired into one of the programs that offered tuitition/gsl reimbursements). my best friend's husband learned through his practicum placements that he realy enjoyed working with kids-so he's ended up working in a very diverse school district where he counsels kids in a variety of grades k-12.

i realy think that an msw should be considered as marketable as an mba-both are offer training and skills that are valuable in a variety of careers.

Congratulations!! You are very inspirational, I am a single parent and sole provider to my daughter also and I really want to finish school, especially since I was so close to my BA.

Thanks for sharing :goodvibes

Right now I'm working in the Resource Unit of our local Children and Family Services office. By day I am a caseworker for DCFS and I do my practicum nights, weekends, and one day per week. The resource unit is SO different from my regular job because we are responsible for recruiting/maintaining quality foster parents that can meet the needs of the kids coming into care. Its been quite rewarding.

Next semester I am working in Adoptions. I can't wait!!! Thanks for all the support--this is a very big thing for me!!!
