I just don't understand. someone please help me

Let's wait until we see the app before we decide it's 'Project Xpensive'.

I'm still not sure what the app. will offer the seasoned park visitor (I know where the bathrooms are), but I'm keen to give it a go and will reserve judgement.

I is for Idiots.......

Sorry, had to be said.....

Looks like I'm having popcorn:: with my coffee this morning. :goodvibes

When I think about the time and effort that goes into an app like this, I can't imagine complaining about the price. I wish I had at&t service so I could get an iPhone. I'd buy this first thing. (Guys, why not make this available for the Blackberry crowd, please???? =)

No matter what the product or service is, there will always be people that find fault in it, be it cost or function or whatever. I too am very happy with the price and can certainly see the benefit it will bring us both and I totally understand that it will not suit everyone.
I for one hate surfing the Dis on the Iphone built in web browser, especially posting. This is going to make those aspects so much easier for me. Having the capability to find POI's easily from the palm of my hand whilst in the parks is just a bonus!
I'm sure they'll be some other great stuff in the app too.

I fully understand your way of communicating. Some people just don't understand that can actually bring up a point without necessarily feeling that way. And also, adults tend to behave in similar ways as teenagers. They want to be a part of the "In" crowd. The podcast team and everyone associated with them are "The cool kids". To some people, the podcast team can do no wrong. It doesn't matter if you make sense or not......If it's not a flattering remark, then you might as well not make it.

I listen to the podcast. I went on the cruise. I am going to DAP. I have lots of friends on these boards that I have laughed a lot with. I have a lot of friends on here becasue I went on the the cruise, and I am an active poster on these boards. I enjoy listening to the podcast. I don't agree with all of it. But, I enjoy it. I know that the podcast crew is a great bunch of people.

I only have an ipod Touch. I could buy an iphone, but I haven't, and it's nobody's fault but my own. I will buy this app if for no other than reason than to support the DIS. I am proud of what these guys have accomplished, and I want to support it. And, it's very exciting what they are doing.

And, it really stinks that the crew is so excited about it and people are putting so much effort into knocking it. I see it happen too often here that they are doing really great things and someone has to find a way to ruin it. Let it be a good and exciting thing. And, if you can't use the product, then just congratulate the crew for doing a good job and accomplishing what they have.

I am baffled by this whole discussion. The app is not even out yet, how can you debate it's benefits, usefullness, price, ect...before you have even seen it? :confused3

I dont' have an iPhone, but when I was listening to the Podcast I was thinking about how much time and effort had to have gone into creating this application and then since WDW is constantly changing, how much more will go into maintaining it and then I read this thread and cannot believe there this much debate over the one time SIX DOLLAR price tag. Seriously?

I find this post incredibly offensive and here's why...

It is entirely possible to bring up a different point of view here. The problem that I have with some people here is that they ONLY seem to post negativity. Every post. There is rarely a post of praise or "hey guys, this sounds great!" It gets old. I totally respect other people's opinions. I often have a differing opinion from my friends or from the crew. But every post that I make does not center around criticizing the crew or their actions.

I guess you might look at look at this group as "the cool kids" or "In" crowd or whatever. But this is the most welcoming group of people that I have EVER met. EVER. Sure, there are differences and not everyone is the best of friends, but that doesn't stop any of us from welcoming someone into the group. I consider myself insanely lucky to have met the people that I have through this forum. I've been on the DIS since 2002 but it wasn't until the podcast forum opened up that I truly felt like a member of the DIS. My very best friends are here. And I'm not just saying that...These people are my BEST friends. And I am thankful each and everyday that this forum exists because there are some truly special people here. And believe it or not, we don't always agree on everything...

I think often times people forget that we can disagree with an opinion without being confrontational. There are threads in which I agree with the podcast point of view and those that I don't. If I don't I post my feelings without attacking those who's opinions are different. If someone on the podcast responds to my post I never feel attacked. I am amazed not only on the boards but in real life how people can attack an opinion that is no more than a different point of view. We aren't passing laws based on our opinions, we are just discussing them on a forum.

People on these boards are not afraid of posting their opinions and they shouldn't be. To disagree with everything that the podcast does is just as much of a sheep mentality as agreeing with everything. We all have our own points of view on certain topics and that often leads to different conclusions. I say it all the time but different doesn't mean one is right and one is wrong, it just beans both are different.

I haven't chosen to budget money for an iPhone.
But "IF" I had an iPhone, I would very quickly pay $4.99 for the Toy Story app. And I am pretty sure I would buy the $5.99 DIS app, even though I have not yet listened to the podcast and I do not know much about it.

(when you get further in the alphabet... "T" is for Tracfone - I haven't seen mine in two weeks. That's how much I need a cell phone. I do understand that an iPhone is somewhere "just a phone" and "a lifesaver". Sometimes I wonder how I hold my life together without one!)

Happy :goodvibes to everyone!

Very well said!

Really?? Just reading this thread made my head hurt??

Does it matter what it costs? Don't buy it then! Why come and complain about it?

I rarely buy apps...We are on a very tight budget since I lost my job. I would buy this app in a second and I don't care if it is .99 or $20 if I want it I would buy it! If I dont want it then I am not going to buy it, but I wont complain either because it isn't free.

Everyone is in business to make money and Everyone goes to work to make money...If you have a business and do not make money then you don't have employees who get paid. Vicious cycle...but that is how it works.

Peace!

I’m off to listen to past podcasts whilst driving 18 hours to visit my wife’s uncle’s cousin who is ill an when I get back I’ll stir up more sh*t to compensate for my sad existence.

Oh yes, sorry if I offend anyone...I am off course joking

I completely agree. Some people are just miserable no matter what. I wish they would take their misery someplace else.

::yes:: Well said, Nicole.

I'm going to risk being called a "sheep" but I wanted to toss out an analogy.

I am a coach, have coached many sports at many age levels. If you want to do something that draws out the best and worst of people try coaching. No matter what you do, how you do it there is a group of complainers. They are usually the ones sitting on the sideline watching. Seldom do we have too many coaches volunteer. After taking a year off because I was fed up with listening to people whine about this and that I took a good hard look at why I coach. I decided it was because I enjoyed working with kids, watching them improve and helping them learn life lessons along the way. I refuse to let a few complainers ruin that for me. I'm tired of hearing the whine from the cheap seats and taking away someone that has the experience and knowledge to be a good coach. If they don't like it, too bad, next time sign up to coach.

Take that for what is worth.

ohhh....I don't have an iPhone. I would love to see this as a blackberry app someday. :thumbsup2
