I just can't take this any longer!!!!

Hi ya guys!

I'm up at 1:28 a.m. We have had some really bad thunderstorms here in West Monroe, La. While I was up, I decided to check the www.disneyworld.com website to see about 2008 rates.

Well, guess what?!? When you put in 2008 dates, it no longer goes to Processing Quick Quote and then to Alternate Discovery. It says Processing Quick Quote and then it says View By Price. When it gets to that screen, it says the site is down for maintenance. Last time it was down for maintenance, I still got the Alternate Discovery junk.

Maybe......the 2008 rates will be out later today? Not keeping my fingers crossed too tightly though. We'll see!

Lisa,
Last week when I was playing on the disneyworld website (Sun evening Oz time-about 3-5am USA time), the website was different and I also thought the rates would come out the next day but that of course didn't happen.
The wonderful weeks of Disney page was different, it went in order of the seasons and the booking dates were in the middle of the page. It also had different pictures
A pumpkin popped up with the fairy godmother and she asked if I wanted help to ensure I got the best value deal
The main page had different pictures, not the castle stay advertisement that is currently there,
I was also asked to do a survey about the changes,
I must have written at least ten times that to make the site better they could put the 2008 rates up, they obviously didn't listen to me.:surfweb:

But I am sure they are getting very close to advertising rates. I doubt they will come out over the weekend, more likely during the week when they can have extra staff on the phones.
:rolleyes1
Heres hoping

I just got off the phone and was told September as well. :sad2:

AAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!! You have got to be kidding! Well, we were debating between Universal and Disney for our March, 2008 trip. I guess if Universal pricing come out first, maybe I will just go there....

Too bad, I like to plan ahead and would like to shop my dates around.

I'm also anxiously awaiting rates. We'll be going in either Feb or April depending on prices.

I'm right there with ya! My husband and I were talking last night about this same subject. There are tons of Disboard members just itching for the rates to come out. I've read a lot of people are going ahead and booking room only.

You know good and well that all the other people out there are thinking the same thing.

Now I'm afraid that, if I don't go ahead and book a room only reservation, we might not get the resort we want.

It's suppsoed to be really simple to cancel a room only and then turn around and book a package. I'm hoping so.

Lisa

We're going the last week in January and my AAA TA recommended that I do the room only rate now and then when the new rates come out she'll go ahead and change the reservation/make the new reservation to reflect the AAA discount and add the DDP/Hoppers. I was afraid that because we need connecting rooms with bunks at WL that we wouldn't be able to get them if we waited much longer.

Add me to the list as well. It's driving me insane! I just got the go ahead from my hubby to book for January '08. We're planning on the 3rd-10th. I am dying to book. We went two years ago and Jan and got the park hopper/water paks and more option for free. I hope they come through with something equal. I now have to pay for my 3 y.o. and get a room that will sleep 5. If the rates go up too drastically, I don't know what I'll do! I justr want to know how much I have to come up with. I have my deposit ready Disney!!!!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I almost thought I was alone in the frustration.

And you can't even try to guestimate what the prices will be for 2008 because mostly everything is booked for 2007!!!

What is sad is that one night last weekend, I had a dream that the 2008 rates were out and that we were able to get the resort and room that we wanted! Isn't that sad? I know, I couldn't believe that I actually dreamt that!

I dunno if I even wanted to book a room only for June 2008 because it still is a long time away, I just wish I had a spot that was guarenteed!

Planning my trip in 2004 was a breeze!! Why is it sooo hard now!?!?!?!? How could it be that hard to come up with pricing for the next year?? Like someone said, for most places, you can book like 2 years in advance, why can't we do that for Disney?? I can't even imagine what the people that are going in Jan that don't even have a solid reservation, I feel for you and I would be literally pulling my hair out if I was you!! The only advice that I can give you is to try to keep calm but I know its hard.

Phew!!! I think I might feel a little bit better but I would feel a whole lot better if I was able to book for 2008!!! Ok, I am done venting now!! I will still be here glued to my computer screen just waiting very UNpatiently for the rates!!!

Thanks to whoever started this thread because if they didn't, I was gonna!!

Yes Rachy it is very hard.

We have all our flights booked, $12 000 from Australia, but we have no accomodation booked, we may end up sleeping at the airport:eek: !!!

The worst thing is that the visitors from the UK can book now but no one else. I was on their website last night and I can't get the hotel I want for the dates I want. I hope they release more rooms for everyone else.

Universal is the same they haven't released there rates either, I think there waiting for Disney first

Patience is a virtue ( whoever made that quote up obviously wasn't waiting to book Disney holidays!!:headache: )

The rates must be coming soon, their systems are currently down again for maintenance

Good luck everyone:upsidedow

You are not alone...I too have actually dreamed about the 2008 prices coming out...how bizarre is that :rotfl2: I did book my room only for June 25-July 5, 2008, hoping that would at least guarantee me the room...but then I read somewhere else that that really doesn't guarantee anything...:sad2: so I am not sure if that helps or not...I just want the rates out!!

I think this is my most frustrating Disney vacation to plan. I will admit that part of it is that I am more informed due to this great forum and that makes me be more picky about pricing, ADRs, etc.

We do have a room only at POP for Jan 1-7th. and finished booking our ADRs but can't get pricing or dinning plan (in other words the package) and am tried of checking the internet several times a day!

Come on Disney!

Count me amoung the frustrated vacation planners! Is it really too much to ask to be able to plan a vacation at least 6 months in advance? :confused3 I know that most of January is slow season, but those of us who travel in January need to plan, too. I remember when I booked our 2003 stay at GF, I booked that package well over a year in advance.

When booking our 2006 and 2007 WDW vacations, I asked the CM if Disney gave any kind of discounts for stays of a week or longer (we stay 10 days). I was always told no.

I sent an e-mail to WDW reservations this morning asking about the new nightly rate system and if they will be offering any kind of discounts for stays of a week or more.

When I get a response back, I will post it.

Lisa

Well, I got a response back from Disney. I put a bunch of the questions other Disboard members had in my e-mail hoping I could get some answers for all of us.

HERE'S MY E-MAIL TO DISNEY:

Good morning!

We just recently returned from a fabulous 10 day stay at the Caribbean
Beach Resort.

I would love to book our ten day June, 2008 stay but I can't do that
yet. Do you have any idea when the rates will be published?

I have also read that the nightly rate system has changed and that the
weekend and holiday rates will now go up. Can you give me any idea on
how this will work? We normally check in on a Thursday and will stay
for 9 nights meaning we would have one Saturday and Sunday and then
check out on the following Saturday morning.

Our check in date for our 2008 vacation would be May 29, 2008 and our
check out would be June 7, 2008.

We will have two 41 year olds and a 10 year old (who will be turning 11
during our stay). We want to book Port Orleans Riverside,
non-preferred. We will need 8 day park tickets (no hoppers or water
parks and more options) We will be driving therefore, we would not need
to add Magical Express.

Is there any way you could give me an estimate on what the vacation
would cost? I know that it would just be an estimate so I won't hold
you to it!

Oh and by the way, with the rate changes, will there be any discounts
given for reservations of a week or more? I know that you offer
specials. What are the chances that we could book a stay at the
Wilderness Lodge for about the same price as a stay at the Port Orleans
resort?

I have a couple of friends who say that they have received pin codes and
postcards with special offers. How does Disney go about selecting the
people who receive these offers? We've been to Disney World 12 times
and haven't ever received anything like this. I want a turn!

HERE IS THE RESPONSE:

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for your recent email.

We appreciate your interest, however we still do not know when the
guaranteed rates for 2008 will be out. We are telling our guests to
check back later this summer/fall. Unfortunately, at this time there is
no way we can speculate on the cost of your vacation.

You may reserve a "room only" reservation for 2008 at this time only by
calling WALT DISNEY WORLD Central Reservations at 407 W-DISNEY
(407-934-7639). Since room rates are not guaranteed for 2008, when the
rates do come out, you will be responsible for the new rate that is
guaranteed. You may also buy your tickets separately now and use them
next year.

As for weekly rate changes, at this time, no plans relating to your
inquiry have been announced.

As you may be aware, the Walt Disney World Resort periodically offers
special resort programs as a courtesy to our guests; however, some
specific promotions also require a special PIN number to access. These
PIN numbers are mailed to randomly selected guests chosen from our
mailing lists. If you would like to be considered for future
promotions, you may update your member account on the following URL:

http://secure.disney.go.com/wdw/register/login?appRedirect=/wdw/myVacation/myProfile/index

This will take you to the login screen where you will need to login or
register for the first time. Then, click on "Profile" on the upper left
side. Scroll to the bottom and click on "Update Your Profile." You will
be given a list of Free E-mail Notification Service options where you
can select "Occasional updates and limited special offers from our
family of businesses" and receive occasional updates and special offers.

Please note that special programs are offered on a first-come,
first-served basis and are subject to availability. This does not
guarantee future mailings.

We hope to see you next year.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Lainie Weidner

Oh well! I tried!:scared:

Still keeping my fingers crossed for an early release of the 2008 rates!:surfweb:

Geez, are they always this way EVERY year? Making us salivate for the news of rates? ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!! So frustrating!! I want to try and start planning my next vacation as soon as possible. I'm right there with ya, everybody :surfweb:

Add me to the list. I think last summer it was mid-August before we were able to book our package. This time we at least have the room reserved...thank goodness because it happens to be the week leading up to Easter. I have paid $1000 towards my room only but would really like to know what the overall cost is going to be. I quit my job at the end of May and that effects how quickly I can pay for the vacation now!

I just had to pay for Hoop-de-doo in advance with my debit card so I could get my ADRs because I can't book my dinning paln! At least my ADRs are over with now! I need a nap. :rotfl:

Tomorrow's the day I can book my ADRs. I can't believe I'll have dinner reservations before I have the Dining Plan. :sad2:

:scared1: I can't believe they are going to wait until Sept to release the dates!!!! OM GOSH!!!! That is absolutely insane!
I'm nervous to see what the rates are actually going to be. I just need to book a room for two nights, a friday, and a sat...and than my group moves to a DVC resort. So at least I have the DVC resort booked and paid for, but I need those rates so I can figure out the best place to stay. I have 12 people in my party..so that means I have to book more than 1 room :scared1:

Let's all keep our fingers crossed that they release those rates sooner than Sept. ...gosh by Sept I wanted to be worrying about airfare....not getting the rooms!!! ARRRGHHH!H!!!!

Well, it's official. I have all of my ADRs for January. The CM asked me if I had the MYW Dining package and I laughed. :rotfl2:
