When booking our 2006 and 2007 WDW vacations, I asked the CM if Disney gave any kind of discounts for stays of a week or longer (we stay 10 days). I was always told no.
I sent an e-mail to WDW reservations this morning asking about the new nightly rate system and if they will be offering any kind of discounts for stays of a week or more.
When I get a response back, I will post it.
Lisa
Well, I got a response back from Disney. I put a bunch of the questions other Disboard members had in my e-mail hoping I could get some answers for all of us.
HERE'S MY E-MAIL TO DISNEY:
Good morning!
We just recently returned from a fabulous 10 day stay at the Caribbean
Beach Resort.
I would love to book our ten day June, 2008 stay but I can't do that
yet. Do you have any idea when the rates will be published?
I have also read that the nightly rate system has changed and that the
weekend and holiday rates will now go up. Can you give me any idea on
how this will work? We normally check in on a Thursday and will stay
for 9 nights meaning we would have one Saturday and Sunday and then
check out on the following Saturday morning.
Our check in date for our 2008 vacation would be May 29, 2008 and our
check out would be June 7, 2008.
We will have two 41 year olds and a 10 year old (who will be turning 11
during our stay). We want to book Port Orleans Riverside,
non-preferred. We will need 8 day park tickets (no hoppers or water
parks and more options) We will be driving therefore, we would not need
to add Magical Express.
Is there any way you could give me an estimate on what the vacation
would cost? I know that it would just be an estimate so I won't hold
you to it!
Oh and by the way, with the rate changes, will there be any discounts
given for reservations of a week or more? I know that you offer
specials. What are the chances that we could book a stay at the
Wilderness Lodge for about the same price as a stay at the Port Orleans
resort?
I have a couple of friends who say that they have received pin codes and
postcards with special offers. How does Disney go about selecting the
people who receive these offers? We've been to Disney World 12 times
and haven't ever received anything like this. I want a turn!
HERE IS THE RESPONSE:
Dear Lisa,
Thank you for your recent email.
We appreciate your interest, however we still do not know when the
guaranteed rates for 2008 will be out. We are telling our guests to
check back later this summer/fall. Unfortunately, at this time there is
no way we can speculate on the cost of your vacation.
You may reserve a "room only" reservation for 2008 at this time only by
calling WALT DISNEY WORLD Central Reservations at 407 W-DISNEY
(407-934-7639). Since room rates are not guaranteed for 2008, when the
rates do come out, you will be responsible for the new rate that is
guaranteed. You may also buy your tickets separately now and use them
next year.
As for weekly rate changes, at this time, no plans relating to your
inquiry have been announced.
As you may be aware, the Walt Disney World Resort periodically offers
special resort programs as a courtesy to our guests; however, some
specific promotions also require a special PIN number to access. These
PIN numbers are mailed to randomly selected guests chosen from our
mailing lists. If you would like to be considered for future
promotions, you may update your member account on the following URL:
http://secure.disney.go.com/wdw/register/login?appRedirect=/wdw/myVacation/myProfile/index
This will take you to the login screen where you will need to login or
register for the first time. Then, click on "Profile" on the upper left
side. Scroll to the bottom and click on "Update Your Profile." You will
be given a list of Free E-mail Notification Service options where you
can select "Occasional updates and limited special offers from our
family of businesses" and receive occasional updates and special offers.
Please note that special programs are offered on a first-come,
first-served basis and are subject to availability. This does not
guarantee future mailings.
We hope to see you next year.
If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.
Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Lainie Weidner

Oh well! I tried!
Still keeping my fingers crossed for an early release of the 2008 rates!
