I was checking my flights on the Delta web-site.
I noticed my 6:10 am flight which was full is now only 1/3 full with passengers for Nov.
So I called.
Delta said my flight is still scheduled to fly.
BUT ....
The final say of what flights are being cancelled and which are flying has NOT been decided
as of yet.
So make sure Delta has the correct phone # to contact you in case of a flight cancellation.
Also - check your flight on the web-site daily to see if it was cancelled.
The web-site may reflect a change BEFORE you get a phone call from Delta.

Or- you may not be on a flight you wish (if you have to change).

Just a heads-up
:bounce:

Delta just announced the job cut of 13000 people and the cut back on scheduling. I would suggest you who hold a ressie, keep a watchful eye on it.
They are also cutting fares.
here is the article from the NYTIMES:

Filed at 11:33 a.m. ET

ATLANTA (Reuters) - Delta Air Lines Inc. (news/quote) (DAL.N), the third-largest U.S. airline, on Wednesday said it expects a substantial decline in revenue through next year in the wake of sharply reduced demand for air travel following the Sept. 11 attacks.

The Atlanta-based airline, which earlier Wednesday followed other major commercial carriers and announced layoffs of up to 13,000 employees, expects its stake in a $5 billion direct aid from the federal government will only provide short-term relief, Chief Executive Leo Mullin said.

Mullin, who told reporters during a press conference in Atlanta that he would forego his salary for the remainder of 2001, said Delta is talking to aircraft maker Boeingabout slowing down its jet acquisitions.

Laid off workers may have the option to later return to their jobs, he said.

The airline will also ``absolutely'' be cutting air fares to offset the sharp downturn in demand that followed air attacks by hijackers in the United States two weeks ago.

i just checked on my flights for 9/30 and 10/6. All are scheduled to go. BUT, I was told to call 24 hours prior to confirm again.

We have tickets using frequent flyer mileage with Delta on Delta Express Newark to Orlando in November. I will keep checking my account. I know before the WTC attack, they had changed my return flight times from 2:30PM to 6:30PM without calling me.
Thanks for the reminder.

I keep checking my itinerary and the flight schedules and they are still there with seats available. What I don't understand, is why the non-stops flights (mine) don't appear when I search for fares. Anyone else notice this? What does the rules state when you have a non-stop flight and they try to cancel it? I'm not doing a connecting flight nor do I have the luxury of rescheduling for a totally different time. My DD is in school and the 3:30pm flight fit perfect when I booked (she gets out early that day). She can't miss any more school due to the new school penalties/policy.

Thanks

I too have delta express (e.g. direct to orlando from non-hub points) tickets. If you look at their site they say FIFTY percent of those flights will be cancelled and pasangers will be handled on regular delta flights (in other words flights that connect through atlanta). It doesnt say which ones and on my travel dates all the flights are still listed, so i assume they are still determining which ones to cancel.

,
I just checked my flights for November. They are still scheduled, but the preice has gone up by $50.

Hey,
I did not make the fares, write the article, I just quoted (copy and pasted) it from the NYTIMES. It is out there for anyone to read.

Gail: Sometimes your posts confuse me  Your post suggests that someone was blaming you or something. I didn't see that, course, maybe I'm misreading your posts... again ;)

I don't recall saying you said it.

I was quoting the article, not you. I didn't think I had to state whom I was quoting since it is right there in black and white.

just a quick reminder about schedule changes. depending on how early in advance you made your ressies states as to when they contact you about it. if you have 2 or 3 to go thru they won't call you until the last one. other wise they would be calling you 3 times. and for some reason many people get annoyed with that.

now for the fares that people are complaining went up right now...thats cause the fare that you had gotten at the time of purchase may no longer be available so the regular fare is now there. they don't have the same rates all the time except for the full coach and first class fares. and yes they will be comin g out with some wonderful fares. just have a littel patience. after all it did take everyone about 9 months to get here didn't it?

dcgrumpy
when somethings shows as quotes it is generally assumed that you are addressing the one you are quoting.

Even if I was addressing you, I wasn't quoting you.

I was just making an observation. I thought it was interesting that I checked my flight this morning and the price was the same. I came here and read the article, so I checked it agin and it had gone up $50.

I thought it would be helpful, so everyone wouldn't expect that all fares were going to drop.

Bev,
Hopefully, it will lower to Jamaica. :) That would be wonderful, especially since I can get 35% off at Sandals. No kids, no strollers, free booze, free food, ahhhhh heaven!!!!!! :)

Beverly: could you explain the first part of your post again? I must be having a "dahhh" moment because I don't understand your explaination about schedule changes.

thanks!

I called Delta again thia AM. I spoke to a very nice gentleman.
He said DELTA is offering very nice "lay-off" packages ...ie he can retire early.
Delta may be in financial trouble but is doing right for the employees.

Also - when I checked the flights for yesterday, today and tomorrow...
LGA -> MCO Delta flight 1601 at 10:40 AM has been cancelled
LGA -> MCO Delta flight 667 at 6:10 AM - was flew yesterday, today and is
scheduled for tomorrow.

Flight 667 is my flight :) and seems like it'll still be running.
For those of you on flight 1601 - watch the delta web-site carefully.
You may be bumped to flight 667 or afternoon flights 775 & 349 (connection in ATL)

http://www.delta.com/home/index.jsp
Enter your flight # at the bottom of the screen and select either today. tomorrow or
yesterday.
To see YOUR flight - if you are a skymiles member you can go to your ITINERARY.
Or select the dates & airports in the top section - enter approximate timesa and ask
for 1 seat. If there are any seats on your flight - you will get a list of flights
and you can click on the one you are on to view seating, type of plane, ect ...

Hope this helps anyone searching Delta's web-site ;)

I just looked at the "scheduled" flights today and mine doesn't appear from Ind to MCO for the date I'm flying. It did yesterday. The flight home (which I'm not concerned about) is still scheduled. I can't fly any other time of the day from Indy. I haven't been told of any changes, but it still shows me confirmed.

This is what was posted on Delta's site. I guess my flight was cut. I have no idea what we're going to do. I had to fly at that specific time on Tuesday!

Schedule Changes

With the November 1 schedule, Delta will reduce its capacity by 15% as measured by available seat miles from the level of service provided before September 11, 2001. In making these schedule changes, the company took into consideration current and anticipated demand for air travel, the comparative revenue potential among routes, and the ability to accommodate Delta customers conveniently on other Delta flights. Delta Connection carriers will adjust their schedules in line with Delta’s and also have implemented cost-saving initiatives.

As part of these reductions, Delta will suspend 50% of its Delta Express capacity to major destinations in Florida because of a dramatic reduction in leisure travel. Leisure passengers to these destinations will be able to fly on Delta mainline flights to Florida through connections in Delta’s strong hub structure. In addition, Delta will replace mainline service between Atlanta and both Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton, Penn. and Harrisburg, Penn., with Delta Connection carriers’ service. Delta now will offer only Delta Connection service at Reno, Nev. Other schedule changes will focus on reducing flights from major Delta cities, including its hub in Atlanta.

They did cancel our flights (just found out) and are refunding our tickets money for 3. I should have a credit in 5 - 7 business days. My DH is flying down the morning before, but nothing can be done about refunding his yet. She said if Delta cancels the flight, we can have our $$ back, fly on a different flight, whatever I wanted. The only way out for my DH is if they cancel his flight. I can't fault Delta for not allowing a refund on his, but I thought I plead my case ;) Actually, if DH didn't want to fly, he can get a voucher and pay $50. His company is paying for it anyway and told him not to worry if he didn't want to fly.

I booked POFQ for two more nights (we're driving now) at the same discounted rate!
