While I would love to go camp with the mouse this year my DH has had enough of Mickey for a while (SO HE SAYS)...so I booked us a week in Myrtle Beach at Lakewood Camping Resort. From what I can tell it looks pretty nice online..Has anyone ever been there or stayed there before that can tell me if I made a good or bad decision? I used to live in Myrtle Beach, but of course I never went to any of the campgrounds because I never thought we would ever own a camper..but we do now....:cheer2:

I tried to get Piratelandpirate: and Ocean Lakes but they were FULL!!!:sad2:

I sure am gonna miss the mouse this year!!!:sad2:

TIA

We stayed at Ocean Lakes a couple years back. I think Lakewood is right between Ocean Lakes and Pirateland. All three are fairly similar and Lakewood is run by some good "Christian folks". Very family friendly from what I hear.:thumbsup2

I like Lakewood alot, pirateland is always my favorite but lakewood is very nice too...we will more that likely be staying there from here on out because pirateland won't let you bring your own golf cart. You'll like lakewood there's alot to do there, sites are nice too.

We camp at Ocean Lakes. As a matter of fact, we just got back from there last Saturday. I don't know when you are going, but it is really hard to get a site during the summer. We got one for Easter week with no problem, but we could only get 4 nights in July. We were told that there weren't any full weeks available during the summer. You can book 18 months out and I guess that's what most people do for the summer, but I just can't plan a beach trip that far out. My brother and his family stay at Lakewood and they really like it there. They don't camp, though. They always stay in one of the rental homes there. They said that it's a really nice place.

If you can't go to the Fort, Myrtle Beach would me my second choice! :thumbsup2

We really like Pirateland but they are all right there together. It is nice because they are mostly camping people there and I didn't think the beach was as crowed as when we camped at North Myrtle where the condos were.

You will love it! :goodvibes

Wow, finally something I can reply to lol...Lakewood is about 7 minutes from our house. How long ago did you move away from here? If you really miss the Fort you can always come to our place and we'll set up a camp fire out back and drive around the neighborhood on our carts.....

We have stayed in all three of those and Ocean Lakes is our favorite but Lakewood was wonderful also.We stayed a week last Easter. You really can find things to do and never leave thr campground. They have activities for the kids.Go to their website and you will get lots of info. We love to rent a golf cart and ride around all day. Our little mini dachshund loves to ride.Have fun!:thumbsup2

I moved away in 1998..I only lived there for 8 months in Seagate Village. DH had just gotten out of the Air Force and got a job at the FD in Pawleys Island...well he found out they were hiring at the FD here in our hometown and he packed us up and moved us back to TN..Those ditches on each side of I-75 were my feet dragging the whole way here. I didn't want to leave and I cried the whole way to TN!! I keep telling him that as soon as he is able to retire we are moving back. He hates the crowds, but I loved that there was always something to do there!!!

Oh well...sorry for the rant..I just love the place!! I do like Disney more though...lol

I was getting rather scared when Ocean Lakes and Pirateland were booked I may have just taken you up on your offer then...:rotfl:

Thanks everyone I feel much better about our decision now!!

Well, just let us know, can even try to get some chip munks to join us. I used to be a FF up north but didn't try down here. Maybe when your husband retires, he can join the Reedy Creek Dept.

^^ After our first trip to Disney I found the Reedy Creek employment website just to see if they were hiring any firefighters..LOL

I am determined to leave Tennessee ONE DAY!!! :goodvibes

Hi, we stay at Lakewood at the end of June every year for a week and really like it since we're beach people. Its a nice campground, very busy. Just be careful with the little ones near the roads. The speeding golf carts are outa control. WE cant make it to the Fort this Easter so we just booked Lakewood for Easter time also.
