I just booked our airfare yikes

I was surprised by how much more expensive SW was for our trip in August. Back when I booked it, SW was comparable with Delta and other big carriers. I actually got the best deal through Sun Country, and it's a non-stop flight. I booked back in April and SW prices haven't come down in that time. It makes me sad that SW is changing. We always counted on them for less expensive air and no baggage fees.

I hate going in Feb that is all we can do. My husband runs an academy over April break and that is all we can do. I hope and pray we avoid a storm. Last winter was BRUTAL :(
On a side note: We were able to fly in April 2013 and the day we left we had a freak storm-didn't have any impact on Boston but it did in Manchester where we flew out of. They canceled our flight an hour before we got there. Luckily the man at the counter was able to get us out on the last two flights but my daughter and I were on a separate flight than my husband and son. We met each other in Olrando. Our children were small and my son was so upset not to be with me that he cried and screamed and ended up vomiting all over the plane!

I should have booked my December flights the minute SW opened flights. At the time, we were planning on traveling with friends and they kept saying, "No. We fly in Dec every year, and flights will go down. It's too early."

Since then, our friends decided not to join us and the flights have increased in price. We went from looking at $900 for two people to about $1400 for two people.

Now I my not be going at all because of cost. I should have trusted my gut and booked ASAP.

I'm flying out of JFK- New York on Jetblue for my January trip. Is $240/250 a person a good price? I didn't buy tickets, so should i book at this price or wait?

If that is round trip than yes it is a very good price. If your dates are set pull the trigger.

My wife is a teacher as well and it's way too early to purchase. We've gone down to Florida during mid-winter breaks so better rates can be had. Spring Break in April is a whole different ballgame than going in February. Many people like to go in February are primarily retirees who mostly drive and not fly. Typically colleges start Spring Break toward around the end of February.

You're missing the point. Prices from Michigan during college spring break have nothing to do with prices from New England during the school winter break.

The person stated that Winter Break in there area was in February. I was pointing out that those dates coincide with each other as it relates to prices here in Michigan when schools have mid-winter breaks and several Colleges start spring breaks in late February.

I fly out of PVD and BDL dozens of times a year, including every April for spring break to MCO. You definitely have booked too early.
