I am a first time user at this board, but have been lurking for the past month trying to learn from all of the experienced posters here on how to get the best deal. At 7:00 am we called to see what Visa discounts were available. We got a room only quote of 5% off at French Quarter, where we wanted to stay. They also quoted 30% or 25% (did not work out the discount, but it seems in between these two) off at Carribean Beach for 6 nights at 888.51. The CM also gave us a stay, play dine of $2960.88 for 6 days in a standard at CB, plus the 5 day PH and the disney dining plan. We hung up to talk it over. My wife and I talked it over and we called back to book the SPD at Carribean Beach.

The CM we spoke to could not find that deal. she kept getting the Visa deal with a higher price by about $100. After about 25 minutes, she said she thought she found us a better deal. It was 6 nights standard room at the French Quarter, with the 5 day park hopper and plus the disney dining plan, for $2632.26. That number sounded familiar, and sure enough that is the rack rate quote for FQ and 5 day park hopper. So somehow, we just got the free dining plan for January. This worked out to be over $900 off the rack rate for resort, park and dining, so we jumped and booked it.

I wanted to share in case others could get the same deal.

If those are accurate numbers, then hang on to that deal for sure.

But make sure when you get your confirmation that everything is there...tickets and dining plan, and not left off. Check it good and if it looks fine, then breathe..cause you just got a great deal for sure. :thumbsup2

We got the e-mail confirmation listing everything and the price. I am so happy. I thought free dining was not being extended until January, so I am so glad that we got it. Good luck to everyone else out there. Hope you all get the discounts you were hoping for.

It isn't being extended. Someone clearly made a mistake, but whatever you got you get to keep.

Oh you got a PIN. This is getting more and more interesting. Is there anything else on there that jumps out? It makes me curious if some free dining PINs are rolling out.

Just checked with a buddy - Disney likes to keep everyone on their toes!

FD pins out covering 1/3 - 3/5

ETA: Looks like the same exclusions as SPD - no AoA at all.

I was just getting ready to say. :cool1:

They love tossing out those PINs by surprise.

I know it is sort of mystical how this PINs are handed out ;) but if I already have something booked, it is unlikely I'd receive a PIN, I assume? We are booked for POR right now without a discount, but I'm hoping for SPD or RO. Since it is already booked, I assume there's nearly zero chance I'll get a PIN, since they seem tough to get anyway?

Sorry for the newbie question. I'm trying to catch up with all of you! ;)

How do know if we have a Free Dining PIN?

Pins go out via email and snail mail. You could call and see if one is attached to your name as well.

Having a current booking has no bearing on whether you will get a pin :thumbsup2

Smitch in particular seems to get lots of pins when already booked!

Oh how I wish we could crack this code.

Maybe the secret lies in Smitch? :thumbsup2

Sounds like you received a PIN Code, based on the FIVE phone calss I've made today, trying to get 'er done!
PSD Deal is there, but no FD for us. Yet. If ever. ;)

:cool1:Just curious if you have since checked your email to see if you were sent a code and didn't realize it.

I would call and ask... Would not surprise me if a PIN 'magically' appears. This was happening last May for Fall FD.

I did not get a pin via email. Unless it is coming via US Mail and has not arrived, I do not know how the CM did this. The first CM in the morning did not find a PIN attached to me, just this wonderful woman who found this free dining deal for me.

When I spoke to one of many CM's this morning she told me that all she could tell me was to keep watching in the next couple of weeks for a discount that would start sooner than the 5th....hmmmm maybe she might know something and was trying to hint to me.

But I never got a pin. I just hung on the phone with a CM for a very long time while she tried to find me the deal the first CM had gotten me earlier. Then she found this deal.

My sister and I will be staying at POFQ in 16 days on an FD Pin from May that she still has not gotten via e-mail or snail mail. The day I saw the postings on the DIS I called to see if I might have the Pin, did not but when I asked the CM to check my sister's account and there it was!
