Now I have to find a hotel. How long and where. Please help. This is our first trip to DLR and California we're going Jan 19-26. I don't want to spend all that time in DLR.

What else are you wanting to do in the area? Will you be staying at one hotel the whole time and taking day trips elsewhere? Or doing split stays?

For your first time at DLR most people would say you need 3-4 days is a good time frame, some prefer longer, but you can see and do pretty much everything in the 3-4 day time frame. With 4 being a little more relaxed. If you stay for 3 you will want to go go go to do everything.

Are you wanting to stay on property? Or close by? There are several hotels right across the street that are just as easy to walk to and from as the on-site hotels at a fraction of the cost. Do you have little ones with you where you will need to go back for breaks/naps during the afternoon?

We can help you find a hotel for the DLR part of your stay based on a little more info and how long you want to stay:)

I think we're going to stay "across the street". Four days sound about right so that we can take our time at the parks and see it all. We get in on Saturday evening and I guess we would start the parks on Sunday. We're flying from the east coast and it will after 8pm our time when we get in.

I'm sure if we will do a split stay or day trips from Anaheim. I just starting research on it all. We will have a 6 year old with us. I'm thinking maybe San Diego for a couple of days and then back to Anaheim. We have an 11am flight back home from LGB on Saturday 1/26.

I've been to WDW many times and found it easy to plan. This trip seems like more has to go into it.

Do you plan to rent a car for the trip to San Diego? 4 Nights should be plenty for being to fully "take in" DLR

If you haven't already found it, Hydroguy's thread, "A DLR Guide for WDW Vets," is a must read for you:

San Diego is a must do-in my opinion if you have never been there. The beaches are beautiful, and your 6-yr-old would probably love Sea World and Legoland as well, depending on his/her interests. I think you have the right idea in sandwiching San Diego and maybe some sights around LA between a couple 2-day stints at DLR. This would let you start and end your trip with a little extra magic.
