Our five year old refrigerator is not working properly and it will cost $400 to $500 to repair it. We have decided to get a new one and I went looking today at Lowe's.

I want a French Door style refrigerator and I looked at several brands. Do you have one of these? I like the Samsung. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks!

We have had one for about a year now. It's an LG and I love it! I like it far better than side by sides and definitely bigger than my old regular style. I was very picky about where the ice maker went though because quite a few took up door space in not such a good way. If you aren't getting a water/ice dispenser then there is nothing to worry about.

I don't remember seeing any Samsungs when I was looking, so sorry I cannot help there.

Good luck though. It is definitely a purchase I do not regret.

Thank you. I didn't see any LGs today but I looked them up online. Yes, the icemaker thing is an issue.

Another vote for LG. We bought ours in July. French Doors, freezer on the bottom and ice/water in the door. Love it!

Just make sure you have nothing on either side of the fridge. My friend bought one and then realized that because there's a wall to the left, she can't open the door as wide as it is made to open.

Just for the OP we have countertops to the left and a doorway to the right. They don't get in the way. A wall would be an issue for any double door fridge.

I have French door fridge on top and pull out freezer below. I love it. I looked at many of them but found the LG to be the best value for the money. I ended up getting it at Best Buy with 18 months no interest which didn't hurt.

W have the same style only ours is GE profile, I love it, except for the ice maker in the door. The design doesn't allow for much ice to be made and we are forever running our of ice. LG sounds different. WE got all new appliances when we redid our kitchen and they all happen to be GE Profile and I have to say that I am not impressed. Next time I will be looking at LG.

I have a new Samsung refrigerator from Lowes. While mine is not a french door style, I do have the freezer drawer on the bottom. I just wanted to say that I am very happy with my Samsung. I love the freezer on the bottom! I had a side-by-side fridge for years and always hated it.

We bought ours 2 years ago- It's an Amana french door. And I LOVE it!

We liked the features of that- they worked better for our family. The LG was very nice and we were tempted but couldn't find anyone that would service it in our area- so we opted for Amana.

Another vote for an LG. We have a bottom freezer-drawer with french doors on the top. Our ice-maker is in the freezer-drawer and that has worked out well. We did not get the water dispenser in the door.

I had to deal with LG's Customer Service early on (ordered a part or two that were cosmetically damaged in the delivered refrigerator) and they were *great*. Just called the 1(800) number on the sticker inside the fridge :thumbsup2 (that's also where the fine folks at LG smartly put the serial number/model information).

agnes!

We have a Maytag, I love ours. I didn't want to sacrafice the doors pace to a water dispenser and ice maker, so my ice maker is in the bottom , and the water dispenser is INSIDE the fridge.

We got the samsung refrigerator one year ago. It is the biggest french door one and we LOVE it. We got it along with the samsung steam washer and dryer and absolutely love those!!!! I am in appliance heaven. Just FYI, the filter for the ice and water has to be replaced every 4 months or so at the tune of around $40. It won't make ice without it. Lesson learned

I've narrowed it down to two models. One is a Samsung and the other is an LG. The big difference between the two is where the icemaker is. The Samsung has it in the top left corner and part of the door while the LG icemaker is only on the door.

I'm making my husband go today so he can decide. Actually, he'll probably pick one and I'll say "Oh, I really wanted the other one!" :rotfl:

We have the exact same setup in our Amana refrigerator and we also bought it at about two years ago. It has worked flawlwssly and it holds so much more than our old fridge. The icemaker/water dispenser in the door took up too much interior space and we wouldn't use it much. This setup works just fine.

We haven't bought a refrigerator recently, but have always used Consumer Reports to help us decide on any major purchase, and some minor ones...you can sign up online and have access to all of the items they have tested and rated.

I really want one of these!! Do any of you have problems with space in the freezer or finding things in the freezer? It looks like most of them have bins so you just have to pile everything up.

I thought I would hate the freezer on the bottom but I have no issues. I can fit more into it. It has a slide out shelf and then a separator on the bottom bin to help me keep it all organized. It also has a couple other little shelving areas to put smaller items and the like. I really do like it a lot.

OP good luck deciding what you want. I wanted an external water and ice maker. Whenever we have one in the freezer I never use it. I also prefer crushed ice over cubes. I think I drink more water than I used to since getting this fridge so it is a bonus to me. The water on the LG comes out a little slower than some others but that doesn't bother me. Ice supply is actually more than I need and have never run out so it is a good compromise.

We bought a new refrigerator when we moved into our house a year ago. We bought a french door style, and we love it! It holds a ton, both in the fridge portion and the freezer portion. Plus, Consumer Reports rated it very highly, which is a plus in my book. We have the Kenmore Elite TRIO from Sears. Here's a link: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...ces&cName=Refrigerators&sName=Bottom+Freezers (of course it comes in stainless and black too).

MHO is that you stay away from Lowes, Home Depot, and the like and go to a local appliance store instead. Lowes, HD etc have the manufacturers make models cheaper so they can sell them cheaper (ever notice how the model #'s don't match from store to store?) so even though you are buying a "name brand" you are not necessarily getting their best product. We have a local family owene appliance store that is a member of a buying group so they can keep their prices competetive with the bigger guys but offer much better customer service.
