I have to cancel!

Sorry so long!

I have to cancel my trip. I had planned to do Dec 7-13 at Pop and then 13-15 at POFQ. I was supposed to be going to school, and the plan was to go down after exams. I ended up not going to school because it was going to cost WAY too much money, and even with my savings, the max student loan, a line of credit, and a part time job, I didn't think I would be able to survive. The residence alone was costing me $17000!!! (And then the residence won't even refund me the $600 deposit, even though I cancelled BEFORE school started. I'm NEVER applying to that school again, I'll get my masters ELSEWHERE!) Anyways, I had my priorities straight and decided that I still wanted to go to WDW in December, as I'm a teacher, and I figured it will probably be the only time until I retire that I'll be able to go in December.

I started the year off substituting and working PT at a store. I was offered a teaching job today, in the school board I wanted to work in, as my Leave Of Absence was from another school board. I'm happy to get this job, but it's just so depressing NOT to be going to WDW!

Thanks for listening! I knew my Dis friends would let me vent, as my here in PEI friends really don't get it!

you must be heartbroken - but keep telling yourself that this is the best move to save up for future visits. Sounds like you are young - I didn't do Disney at Christmas until I was late 30's with kids!! Lots of time.....

Best of luck in the new job - I hope you bring a little Disney Magic to the classroom.

I really appreciate the hugs and the congrats. I'm really looking forward to the job. I've been teaching 5 years, but was looking forward to getting my masters, and my trip! I so didn't want to cancel, but I'll be fine. I just needed some comfort from people who understand Disney. A friend and I drove to Halifax yesterday to the nearest Disney Store, and I spent $150! I feel a little better now. It was all Christmas presents though, I was a little disappointed in the selection though. Nothing much there for adults, which I why I bought tons for my nieces and nephews for Christmas.

Thanks again, everyone. I will get back to WDW eventually, just not for another 20 or so odd years (at least) until it's December!

Wow! Another Islander! Welcome to the disboards! You understand that it's not always easy for us to get to WDW when we want to then. Let me know when you go back, maybe I'll jump in your suitcase!
