As y'all know, we got Sienna spayed about 2 weeks ago. For the first little bit after her procedure, we kept her in a pen set up in the foyer with her carrier, some food and water, and a small litterbox. It was a little cramped, but as she didn't need to be running around, that was good.
After a few days, we started letting her out of the pen by opening the top of the pen, leaving it open, and lifting her out. She still couldn't jump much, but could at least stretch.
A few days later (after she was well on her way to fully healing), we left her out essentially as long as we were home, and left the top open on the pen (kept it set up in case the boys started playing rough with her and we had to separate her, which happened a time or so).
Well, every once in a while, I found her back *inside* her pen, curled up in her carrier. She climbed in on her own just to get in the carrier. Strange thing is she seemed unable to get back *out* of the pen the same way she got *in*.
So, when we found her doing this, we'd let her back out when she wanted out, then resumed whatever we were doing.
Then the *boys* started jumping into the open pen to get into the carrier! We'd find one or the other of them curled up in that carrier fairly often, silly things. These are the same carriers we use to take them to the vet.
Well, when we took the pen down over the holiday, we left the carrier out since Sienna seemed so comforted by being able to curl up inside.
Only now, the kitties were having squabbles over who got to curl up in the carrier! We'd find one in the carrier, then occasionally another kitty would climb in and force the first one out!
So, we got down a second carrier. Now we're finding kitties in the carriers all the time. Silly things. You would think that since these boxes take them to the vet every time they go, they'd be afraid of the carriers. Not so, or at least not when they're just sitting out.
Just thought y'all might get a chuckle out of the silliness of our kitties.
