My boyfriend's parents are absolutely wonderful. I can not even begin to tell you how amazing they are.
Last week, that craptacular blue car of mine (the one with 200,000 miles/no air/windows wouldn't roll down/leaked when it rained/no heat in the winter/etc) started acting worse than usual. The car would not acclerate over 30 mph and anything under that, it "chugged" down the street. The heat was going up into the red, and it was just an absolute mess. I hate that car with a passion. I would sweat horribly in the 10 minutes it would take me to work (couldn't roll the windows down enough and no ac) so I'd have to take another shower or clean up at work.
My bf's father likes to work on cars, so he offered to fix it for me. In the meantime, he let me borrow their third car, a little beater that got you from point A to B with no problem. I was grateful for that, because it at least had ac.
Well, apparently on Sunday morning he took it out for a drive and realized that it could NOT be fixed. He looked in the paper, found a car that interested him, went out to Longwood and took his wife with him.
Tuesday morning, my bf's Mom called and asked me out to lunch. She said that we needed to go to Longwood, and it didn't strike me as out of the ordinary because she likes those quaint little places in small towns. When we got there, she told me she needed to pick something up for her husband.
We got out of the car and met with a man who shook her hand and then mine. She turned and looked at me, pointed at a car and said, "You see that white car over there?" I said yes. "Well, it's yours. Al bought it for you."
I couldn't believe that he did this. He bought me a 1996 Oldsmobile as big as my car before this cruddy blue one. It only has 80,000 miles on it, AIR CONDITIONING! and it looks brand new. My bf's Mom told me that he decided that Maddy and I really needed something much better, and he knew we just couldn't afford anything. He spent way, way too much money on this car for me.
I cried for quite awhile, I was so happy.
I told Maddy on the phone that I no longer had my blue car and had a new car that worked and had ac...she said, "YEA! No more ugly car! We won't be hot anymore!!"
I love my boyfriend and his family dearly. God has really given me some special gifts
