Ok, let me start by saying that I have been awake since 3:30, so this may be a little wacky, but this makes perfect sense to me(sleep deprived).

Someone yesterday said we should start a golf cart swap.... well my plan is more like a golf cart time share.

Here we go:

There are probably about 40-50 people on the dis that are here pretty regular. We each purchase 1 week of time for about $125, you sign up for a specific week, and that is the week that you get to use the golf cart. We sell 50 weeks, so that would be $6250. We get a cart from tungpo for about $5500, we get a trailer for about $750. Now, we take the 51st week and offer it for free to the person that is closest to FTW and is willing to be semi responsible for the cart. (pick it up if someone cancels, take it in for service + they get the trailer to use for the rest of the year).

Now each person is responsible for the cart, you break it you bought it, kinda thing, regular wear and tear is the responsiblity of the group, that leads to week 52, that is the carts maintainance week. We get someone to do a yearly service.

Now next year, you could sell your week, or transfer etc. There would have to be a yearly service fee, maybe $10.

After 2-3 years, we sell the cart and then vote to decide if we want to buy another or just stop and split the proceeds, so lets say we ebay it for $3000 divided by 50 is $60 each back, so that would be $125+$20 service fees - $60 resale = $85 for 2-3 weeks of golf cart rental. Not bad huh?

Now my only problem is that we have to have this thing going by the 25th LOL.

Boy I wish I could sleep, instead of doing really dumb stuff like this.... please ignore the ramblings of a sleep deprived dis'r unless ......

never mind I was told how to fix my mistakes.

I actually like that idea. You might have to figure in a fee to get a lawyer to draw up paper work that would outline the plan for each person who buys in just like DVC does when you buy in there. Would you have to get a liability insurance policy for the cart or would each owners own insurance cover it?

Maybe I should stay up later at night so I could come up with creative ideas (LOL)

Man for $5,500 I can build a wicked one :cool1: I'm painting a blue one today, I will post some of my painting skills after I finish it. I want to dump some ice pearl in the clear but shes doesn't want it, thats too bad it would really set it off.

I thought you might like this idea... I figured, if we were gonna have a cart, if may as well be an amazing one.... you could put your logo on it, it would be awesome advertising, one of your carts at the fort 24/7/351 .

Great! Awesome! I'm interested! Amazing what you come up with little sleep! Maybe I should try that....

Well I'm hoping to get a bigger trailer that will haul at least two or three carts. If I get one soon I will bring extra carts for you guys to use during my stay ( RENT FREE)

This really IS a good idea....maybe I should wait on a gc purchase?

Your cart idea is awesome!!!! Some of those other parts of the DISboards share a refrigerator...this is waaaaaaaay cooler! :thumbsup2

If you can find a way to make it work, I'd join in. Sign me up!

...starting to feel like I'm renting my whole trip...campsite from Disney, RV from Tina, DVC points from Scott, now maybe a cart?!

Oh, I'm going to have to show this to DH. I think we would be interested.

You know what that's really not a bad idea, if I didn't already own a golf cart I would really consider this, for 5000.00 you should be able to buy a really fat golf cart, we didn't even pay that for ours, sounds interesting.

Would we have to plan our vacations around when the cart would be available to us? what if more than ONE person who owns a share is hitting the FT during the same week/weeks? What happens if owner A runs over a nail and doesnt know it/ turns the cart in to whoever we turn it in to(What do we do with the cart at the end of the vacation?) and when Owner B picks the cart up....it has a flat due to the slow leak from the nail? In other words, who would monitor the carts condition at the end of each vacation?

Come on now guys, I thought this up at 3:30 in the morning. You can't expect me to know all the details.... lol

We could do it like DVC, peak season, more money, off season, less money. But I would think you would have to buy a specific week, so no clashes over everyone wanting it on the 4th of july etc. As far as the leak, fix it thing, I would think that part of the yearly "dues" would have to have a contingency fund for just that type of occurance. Also if you want to go for 2 weeks like me, just buy 2 weeks, but next year, if you are not going, you could rent your week to someone else.... etc...

I don't know if this would actually work, but it would be awesome if it did.

Thank the Lord the Gatorcart is safely tucked away in the garage..... This is a logistical nightmare.

Let me know when you need a golf cart to experiment with for painting. My husband told me when he bought it to come up with an idea on how I wanted it to be painted, but I haven't done anything about it yet. It has been about 3 years now and still plain white. I am really on the ball!:lmao: Maybe someone here can come up with a good idea. Keep it clean because my kids are still young!;)

I think it's a great idea. Could we board it at a cart shop of some kind and then they could handle safety inspections at the beginning and ending of each use. Like all great ideas we just need to tweek it a bit.

40-50 people trying to agree on the same thing. Are you sure you were awake at 3:30 or was this a nightmare in disguise. Who would man the complaint department?

I have my own cart so I am not really part of this. But how about some one who lives near FW buys 4 or 5 carts and rents them out for $100 or so a week and advertise on the DIS. It would be a great way to make extra money plus you would save everybody else money. This way nobody is fighting about that you had to much Kungoloosh broke the cart. :confused3 Just my 2 cents.;)

I have wondered why Tungo didnt jump on this idea.....After all the success TinaH has had renting out her TT, I thought someone would have been all over this by now.
