I have NOT been upgraded!

It sure does seem like there are a lot of upgrades going around out there, and I wonder if some people feel like EVERYONE is getting an upgrade but them. I just figured I'd start a thread for people who have NOT been upgraded on an upcoming cruise. My guess is that in spite of the number of recent upgrades there are many MORE people who have not gotten upgrades and it's really not as common as one might think.

I booked a cat 11 on the 12/31 wonder and we have not been upgraded! (and I hope to not be upgraded, we picked the room location based on our favorite area of the ship and I would not like to be "upgraded" to a category 9 on deck 2!)

Lisa

I'm right there with you. We have a location and a room we are comfortable with. So take that dang Walt Disney suite and try and pawn it off on some other suckers!

Lisa,

If you specified a room, then I think there's less of a chance that Disney would upgrade you. But in any case, if you are happy with your current room, then hey, that's better than an upgrade to a room you might not like!

I booked two rooms for my family. One of the rooms was upgraded, but the other was not. So we'll have a Cat 11 room and a Cat 9 room. That's OK, because now I get to see both types of rooms. I'll let you know which one I like better after the cruise!

This will be our third cruise coming up in October. Our first 2 we picked our rooms and would not have wanted or taken an upgrade. Our upcoming cruise was decide only about a month ago and we only had GTY rooms. Had no idea what or where our rooms would be. I think we got an upgrade but still not confirmed. I'm not holding my breath on the upgrade. I'll beleive it when I see it.

So if we end up with the upgrade thats great if not thats okay. We aren't in the room enough to make it matter anyway.:D

Hey you people who have been upgraded, go away! You have your own threads! fyrworks, you can post HALF a response since you were only half upgraded.

Seriously, I have this weird, irrational.. I wouldn't say "fear", that's a bit strong, but "discomfort" about being down in the belly of the ship. I know you are not under water but I just don't care for being down there. But that wasn't the purpose of my post!

The purpose was to see how many people have NOT been upgraded. EVERYONE couldn't have been upgraded, who is staying in all of the cat 11's?

Lisa

We have only stayed on deck 7 on our other cruises. cat 5's and cat 10's. We picked cat 11' figuring the worst would be deck 5 but hoping for 6 or 7.
I can't tell you how much I have worried about being upgraded to a cat 9 on deck 2 in BELLY of the ship. I do not like the idea of being that close to the water or having a view. I was sick when we had our verandah room but fine for our inside room. SOOO I might not even take the upgrade for the cat 9's. If I could get 2 cat 11 on deck 7 next to each other I would take them.

Last I checked anyone could post on any thread:confused:

Oh
We are booked for the March 2004 cruise (4 cat 11's) and we HAVE not been upgraded so I guess I can still post by your guidlines.

Padre Disney,

It was a JOKE. Sorry I forgot the smilie. Of course you can post on whatever thread you want to... though my original intention WAS to show that not EVERYONE is being upgraded even though it may seem like it. But maybe I am wrong? Everyone IS getting upgraded? :)

As far as seasickness goes, it does seem like being down lower tends to help with that. It still gives me the willies for unknown reasons (though I don't get seasick and prefer when the ship rocks and I can feel it).

glad to see you were joking.

I am one of those that NEVER thought it would happen to me. Why couldn't it be something like the lotto.

:)

What deck did you pick your cat 11's on? We really like deck 7 but have picked deck 6 for March. We do not want and upgrade for March. Our whole family wants to be together because of the kids.

I have heard that being lower will help with being sick but I'm still not sure I want to be that close to the water in the belly.

Lisa,
We booked a cat. 11 online last January and just traveled on last week's Aug 2-9 Magic. We got exactly the room we booked, no talk of upgrades. (I agree with you, we liked our room from the beginning). If you booked awhile ago, you'll probably keep that same room. No worries! :)

I am booked on the 12/27/03 Magic cruise. I booked a cat. 5. Did not receive an upgrade either. And according to most people I have talked to my chances are pretty much slim to none in getting one.

I've booked 4, and taken 3 cruises with the 4th coming up on 10/2. I've never been upgraded (booked Cat. 6) each time, and had a great time. We're in a Cat 11 this trip, and I am OK with that--I'm like some of you, I don't want to be on Deck 2--and I'm not sure why.

Yes, I'm sorry I forgot the smilie!

I always tell my husband that stuff like that doesn't happen to us because we used up all of our good luck finding each other!

I wanted deck 7 but they only had deck 6 available. Close enough! I hope they can somehow get you close together. I agree, that would be more important to me than any other request.
I have heard that being lower will help with being sick but I'm still not sure I want to be that close to the water in the belly.
I would love to tell you to just get over your silliness but I have the same silliness too! We HAVE stayed in a cat 8 before and really didn't think the porthole was worth the extra money. For us, its either inside and budget or splurge on the verandah.

We're booked for Nov. on the Wonder for our land/sea pkg. When we booked through All Seasons Travel, they didn't give us a choice of which room we wanted...just the category. We're booked for catagory 9 deck 2. They did tell me our room after we booked it though.
Our last cruise we had a verandah and loved it!!! This is only a four day, so we opted not to spend the extra money.
Anyways, we are 3 months away. When would we know IF we were upgraded anyways? I thought we wouldn't know til closer. That's what happened with our last one. We were upgraded and found out a few months or maybe sooner before the cruise.

So I would LOVE a verandah, but won't let it ruin my trip just cuz of it. If I HAD to have one that bad, I would have booked it in the first place. But it is nice to be upgraded free of charge. :Pinkbounc

I just can't wait to go!!

Just wondering:
We booked cat 11's knowing what decks they are on. Assuming you got the lowest deck 5 but then were upgraded to a cat 9 on deck 2. Who else besides my DH and me does not consider deck 2 rooms to be an upgrade? Yes you have a window but if we REALLY wanted a window we would have booked one. Still not sure if this upgrade thing is a good as some people think they are.:(
just our thoughts

We've been on two cruises (3 cabins each time) and are getting ready for our 3rd. We have never been nor do I expect to be upgraded. I will check at the port this time because it is just my DH and myself and this is the FIRST time we have EVER been away from the kids overnight (that's 11.5 years!). I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

Like you Lisa, I feel lucky in other areas of my life!

hey we never have either , booked 6 cruises and taken 5 with #6 just around the corner , we have been all over the ship ..

cat 4 - 10 the only upgrade we recieved is the one we paid a Grand for ... day of cruise.... cat 10 to cat 4.

like before .... talked to Donna at Dreams to day prices where crazy ..... will have to work a saturday..... and get a verandah ........

Our October Cruise will be #7 - Category 6, Deck 5 and I do have a specific stateroom that I "own".....
I don't ever want to be taken from MY stateroom on 5AFT even for the WD Suite - and yes, I have been there!!

You pay for what you get and if you get something "better" than be grateful, if not, well, you aren't getting anything less for your dollar!

We are using one of the Cat 11s on our cruise. I like the location too. Deck 6 right in the middle.

BINGO!
Bottom line -= you are there!
