once you book and make a deposit and try to change something they charge me a 50 fee for down grading and it isnt even time for my final payment for another month. so if i want to get rid of the meal deal i loss 50 bucks, if i dont want park to parks and try to change another charge.
i have tried to ask many questions here and got lots of answers thank you even when i seem to be asking the same tthing in another post , i do apologise for that , i have health issues i that interfere with my thinking and processing ,again thanks for bearing with me .. anyway i am beginning to wonder if i should of stuck with what i know WDW, just trying to make our vacation for hubby and me for 30 yrs anniversary fun and different.. i reallly looking foward to Harry Potter :) thank you again for all yr help :flower3:

When you book a package, there are change fees if you do so within a certain amount of time left.

If you just book your hotel separately, directly through Loews, there are no change penalties unless those changes are made within 5 days of arrival.

Here is what the website says for when you book packages:

Revision Fees:
Once deposit and/or full payment is received, a $50 revision fee per transaction, plus any applicable services fees or price increases, will be assessed for any changes made to the reservation including, but not limited to, dates, air carrier, hotel, and ground transportation. If your vacation includes airline reservations, air change fees apply, plus a $50 per reservation revision fee and any other fees or price increases imposed by the airline will be charged. Fees are non-refundable. Certain types of airline reservation changes, including name changes, are prohibited based upon restrictions imposed by the carrier.

Cancellation Fee for Bookings:
DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL - PENALTIES
46 days or more - Full refund*

45-0 days - $200 fee per reservation, plus fees imposed by hotel, airline and/or other components

*Additional Terms & Conditions apply regarding transactions including air travel, Halloween Horror Nights, Blue Man Group, VIP Tours and Discovery Cove.

Refunds:
Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing refunds.

Since you are before your 45 days, you can just cancel the whole thing for a full refund and then book everything individually, not going through Universal Vacations.

Packages have all kinds of fees associated with them...make sure you read the fine print.

good advice thanks .. we got it all fixed now i can relax :) live and learn course i am more than old enough to know better LOL

Also, remember Disney will charge you too if you have a package and make changes within 45 days. -just in case you do decide to stick with Disney make double sure of all your plans there too. ;)

We book room only with US and Disney for that exact reason. I don't like extra fee's unless I have to change something very last minute.

Once you get onsite though, I think you'll love the advantages that gives you. :goodvibes

We book room only with Universal and Disney too for that exact same reason. We the date gets closer, we call and add tickets, packages or whatever with no penalty. We never miss Uni when in Orlando. We are big fans:)

I hope I'm not hijacking a thread by asking a question.
What if you change from a 2 queen standard room to a king standard room? :confused3
Does it make a difference if you have paid in full then do this change?:confused3

if the room rate and view is the same, i think you will be fine.

Are you within 45 days? The only reason I ask is that I downgraded our ticket package from the Orlando Flex ticket to the 14 day park pass. The CSR "mentioned" the change fee for downgrading, but then also mentioned that she'd waive it since we could just cancel outright and re-book it with the extras we wanted...but we were still SEVERAL months out (like 6) and our room catagory was still available...so we were able to make the change without an imposed penalty.

They were very accomodating for us with the room only..they let us move our date and keep the same rates when calling the resort directly. I always book things separate as well...seems to always be easier for change-ours were due to health reasons as well.
