Wow wow wow! I love your story. I'm a Catholic school teacher too, and it made me cry. Your DH has obviously had a huge impact on the teens he teaches. That is just the thing we all hope for when we accept our calling and fulfill our vocation as teachers. I pray that he recovers fully and that you all have a wonderful trip.

Last year two high school students noticed a man slumped behind the wheel of his vehicle in our McDonald's parking lot. Concerned that he may not just be dozing they checked him out. It appeared he had suffered a heart attack so they called 911 pulled him out of the van and started CPR. Those two teens saved his life. They were so modest when the news reported on it.

I teach middle school, eighth grade and they can be a handful at times but they really do amaze you at other times just how sweet and generous and caring they are.

thanks for sharing such great story, and so sorry about your dh's issues. Hope he recovers quickly. My dd16 has a seizure disorder, so I know how scary it is. How's your dd? Finding her dad like that must have been traumatic... just keep on eye on her, after-the-fact and when things are back to normal is usually when anxiety will kick in from something like this. I'm sure she'll be fine, just something to keep in the back of your mind. hugs to you all.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes.

He's still in ICU, though he'll be transferred to the Cardiac Care unit as soon as they have an open bed. From there it will be an acute rehab center. But he will recover.

And the kids and I are busy making tentative Fastpass plans. They're had a predictably rough week, though seeing their dad recovering has helped tremendously. The fact that he can now sit up, feed himself, take some steps, and joke around with them has improved their spirits immeasurably.

The school chaplain asked my husband whether there was any message he wanted read at last night's mass in Disney, so he sent a heartfelt thank you to the kids.

And their Senior trip to WDW is over; within the next hour or so the first of the 3 flights should be back in New York. My husband is determined to be at graduation in early June, even if more of a guest than a working member of the faculty that day.
