I have issues with Spotify/Apple Music

I long for the day when you could pop into your local record store and buy a CD, tape or Vinyl and relish the thought that it BELONGED to you; it also bolstered up the artists. Now with Apple Music/Spotify you don't really own the music and, knowing a professional musician who hates the systems, I must confess that the royalties behind every download is minute in size, suffocating the industry. Now artists have to rely on live performances or library music. Not so cool. Convenient for us users, yes, but not great for composers.

Digital purchases for movies, TV shows and video games are the same way. You do not own that piece of content. You are buying a license for that content. The owner has the right to take it away whenever they want even though you paid for it.

This is why physical media is so important for preservation.

We do the same for our video games if it comes in a physical copy we will get that vs a digital download. If there's a movie we really like we get the dvd too.

You can usually get physical copies for cheaper than the digital too. For example a video game may be $30 on ebay but it's full price on the digital store.

Also it's yours forever. If companies could barge into our homes and take our physical media away, they would LOL
