omg this is so bad....I just got off the phone with USair...They had half of out party leaving 45 minutes after the rest of us. Then they were going to NC and the rest of us were going to DC. In DC we were flying into Reagan International, but flying out of Baltimore??Does someone see something wrong with this? Then the group going to NC arrives at Tampa at 10:33 PM and the other group at 9:28 pm....

Now, the tickets cost me $162 including taxes and fees. I can get a a full credit on my credit card, but I can not find anything comparable right now. UUUGH!!

I am so angry.....Now we are all on the 5:45 out of Boston with a connection in Charolette, NC getting into Tampa at 10:33pm. This with 4 kids....Oh I can tell this is going to be fun!!!

Throwing a hissy fit...a temper tantrum!!!

I had a lot of trouble with USAir when I travelled on September 30. I found out by accident (on the internet) that my flight was cancelled. I called to complain and rebook, and the customer service person I talked to put us on a flight with connections instead of a direct flight like I booked earlier. He said that was all they had left. I was travelling with two other adults and a child. I called back later and asked to speak to a supervisor. I told her I wanted a direct flight. She was able to book us on a direct flight leaving 6:20 in the morning. We had to be at the airport at 4:15. At least we didn't have to have stopovers. Our flight home had no problems, but others in our group who flew from different airports had to rebook. It's just that they are cutting back whereever they can and combining flights. It stinks, and they don't even offer you first class or any compensation. I'm going to write to them soon and complain. It can't hurt for you to try!

glo, I thought I'd straightened out my USAir problems, but now they've gone and messed them up again. Originally I was flying out of BWI at 8:45pm. They changed it to a connecting flight leaving at 7pm. I called and explained there was no way we could make the 7pm flight, especially with everyone reporting horrendous conditions at BWI. They switched us to non-stop flights out of National and that was great.

Now they have moved my departing flight from National back to BWI, leaving at 7:15pm. However, my return flight is the same--returning to National!

I can't decide now whether to try to switch to a connecting out of National or switch to a returning to BWI. I don't want to go to BWI, but it's either that or arrive at midnight or depart at 2:45, which means another day out of school for the kids.

For KBeverina: Don't worry about horrendous conditions at the security checks. You are arriving at BWI, not taking off from there.

You can kee0 what you think are nice reservations but stand by fo even better flights to avoid missing the extra day of school. If you don't succeed in standing by the school will be patriotic and understanding when you call in the morning of the extra day the kids will be missing.

For Glo, I would not mind half the family taking off first if that was the only way to keep low fares.

seashore--right now they have me departing BWI and returning to National. I decided to go ahead and switch the return to BWI and keep the non-stop rather than have the connecting out of National, but I was just looking at the timetables and there is only one returning non-stop. That's at 7am so that's out of the question.

I was just going to switch to a connecting into BWI for my return flight, but do you think if I wait they will add more non-stops returning to BWI? I'm returning Dec. 23rd so I'm a little worried about flights filling up since it's close to the holidays.

I also have another alternative--I could book Southwest and have non-stops both ways, but the disadvantage there would be the fact that they don't assign seats. I have a diabetic child and don't want to risk being separated from him or my 5 year old.

I'm trying to stick it out with US Air, but Southwest is tempting right now. The cost would be the same for either one.

If you are not tied to leaving from Boston, try Southwest out of Manchester, NH. We also had USAir flights out of Logan and they were rescheduled to crappy times, so we cancelled and were able to get round trip, non-stop flights from Southwest for cheaper than our USAir tickets($213). It is more convenient for us because we live in NH, though. I am not sure where you are in MA, so maybe Logan is easier for you to get to. Good luck!

I never forgave USAir after they ruined the best airline I ever flew on....Piedmont. Too bad Piedmont didn't buy USAir.

yes I was working for Piedmont when they bought us out. they at least were profitable. look at what uselessair has done with themselves.

I would check out leaving from manchester or Rhode Island.. Southwest has some non-stop
to Orlando. right now they are going for around $150rt. I am booked for Dec 2-6 for $115 non-stops. I am in the middle of both airports. and parking in Manchester is reasonable..

Just a thought

Glo, I agree with Bosjoe...if it isn't too far from you, I would definitely check out Manchester or Rhode Island...Southwest is a great airline and has non stop flights out of both each day! Sorry about your USAir troubles...I never fly them and that is the reason why...we have had many problems before with them! :(

Well, I decided to switch to Southwest and called US Air to cancel my reservations--they didn't even have my departing flight in the system. They were nice enough and honestly I felt a little guilty, but I am glad to be done with them.

When I first booked my Trip for Oct in Feb, I was booked on US Air. My flight changed 3 times and finally was cancelled. My TA called me and told me. I had to be booked on Delta. I was also coming back into Bradley at 830pm. Next trip I think I'll try Southwest.

If you haven't rebooked yet try Delta again. I was looking at January but they had 169 rt to both Orlando and Tampa from Boston.
