decorating is not for me, atleast the labor part. Last night as I was putting sizing on the walls I was thinking "Where is Zurg when I need him?" I also told DH this is the last of me decorating. It is just too difficult with 2 DDs underfoot as I am trying to sand/wipe down trim and apply the sizing. Maybe if DH ever returned for first shift I would reconsider it:rolleyes: All I can say is I am thankful for my Dad who painted the trim and hall for me while we were in Chicago.....otherwise I think I would have moved out by now. Tomorrow is the hanging of the wallpaper and border....I have never hung wallpaper so who knows how I will be feeling by then, DH should probably stay away for awhile.

You are a brave woman!...When you are all done with your project you will look back and feel so good!.....Can you show pics when you are done!...would love to see it!

Holycow

Some advice from someone who has been there: DON'T hang wallpaper alone! Find a friend, hire a neighbor teen, and as a last resort, ask your husband! lol. You really do need someone to help straighten it out especially if you are hanging long pieces and this is your first time. The trickiest part is plumbing the wall. It may look straight to you but when you hang the paper you realize just how crooked your ceilings/walls are. Also, little kids and wet sticky wallpaper do not mix. ;) Make sure they are far far away while you do this. :) Once you get the hang of it (and ruin a few sheets) it's kind of fun...

Lucky4me...I have a friend coming to help me, she has hung wallpaper several times and acts like it is no big deal.

holycow....I took pictures this morning for the before effect and will take pictures once the paper and border is hung. DH will have to post them.

I really hope this is worth it. DH is planning on taking the girls out tomorrow so they are not around while we are working in the kitchen.

LOL! I think Zurg is making a lot of men look bad.;)

I don't have the patience to be a decorator. I like things to be simple so I don't have to think about it.:teeth:

browneyes....I also like simple. I could leave my walls bare and be happy. DH wants the house decorated and I don't trust to let him do it.;)

HAving done the wallpaper routine many years back, I will say........ENJOY!!! :teeth:

LOL! Let Catsrule decorate for you.:teeth: I can see wall to wall Simba pics adorning your walls.;)

I could just let the girls decorate the walls like they did at Gino's in Chicago:rolleyes:

I love to decorate. I look forward when Stephen will be gone for awhile, because then I paint, wallpaper, strip, stain, whatever comes to mind. I like to do it when he's gone so he can't suggest anything that might mess it up! Believe, I wish I could be there to help you out. Wallpapering is one of my favorite things to do. It changes the look of a room to quickly and dramatically, and you don't have to wait for paint to dry before you bring furniture back in. Have fun!!!

tc...I also wish you lived closer, not only to finish my wallpaper;) but because you are a wonderful person.

I am thinking I need to get Zurg to talk to DH....I would love for my bedroom to be redecorated while I am in Graceland with my Mom(March).

As you know from my other thread...decorating-impaired here!!!

tc I can't paint a straight line for nothing.

Good Luck believe. I have NEVER hung wallpaper either, not even a border.

I hate doing that stuff too. Good luck with the wallpaper, I've never had the guts to try to hang wallpaper, myself.

Good luck with the wallpaper Amanda! I helped my dad hang border in his kitchen and that was enough for me to realize that painting is much nicer ;) Oh and I think the girls did an excellent job with drawing at Gino's :teeth:

Thanks, Amanda, you're also a very nice person. I don't wallpaper much anymore because it can get so expensive. I usually paint. You can get such great results with paint and faux techniques. Good luck and let us know how it all turns out.

Cat wallpaper borders! Paint the rest of the walls to match em'. Then I will make you some Simba, Cali, Whisk, and Melody pics to hang. :teeth:

Sorry catsrule but the kitchen is being completed with tan and mauve wallpaper and an American Apple border (blue/green/mauve/tan).....not cats this time, I wouldn't want to scare Melody and Whisk and have them think they have been invaded.

Saw Shep pick out the Apple light switches.....maybe I can help with the basement when it is finished......:teeth:

Maybe we'll decorate the unseen storage area with cat stuff..:p
